Geet, Dadima's new assistant in 'Mission Maan Marriage', had brought the new girl along and introduced her as Parineeta. The girl interjected and added that her friends called her 'Pari'. Maan made a mental note to call her only Parineeta, for he neither wanted to be her friend nor her spouse. Geet gave him a meaningful look as if to say that she did manage to get him a 'pari' as she had promised. Although Maan understood her unspoken thoughts, he merely rolled his eyes and sighed.
Parineeta turned out to be a young, pretty, smart, modern, vivacious and engaging girl, full of life and bubbling with happiness. Dadima insisted that Maan take her along to all the business dinners he attented. While he could not go against his Dadima's wishes, Maan always made sure that Geet, in her capacity as his secretary, was also part of the entourage. This way he not only could keep Geet close to him but also watch her reaction to his proximity to Parineeta. When Geet was around, he always made sure he was extra sweet to Parineeta, flattering her looks and praising her manners, but the minute she stepped out of sight, he was back to his grumpy self, totally ignoring the poor girl. This was because he did not want to lead Parineeta on and give her false hopes but at the same time he wanted to make Geet feel jealous and make her admit that she cared for him much more than she would admit. Parineeta, being the smart girl she is, quickly caught on to what was in Maan's mind. As she had taken a genuine liking to Geet, she decided to play along in the hope of getting the two together.
Geet found it difficult to cope with this new situation. While her mind kept reasoning with herself that the new girl was just the right life partner for Maan, her heart could not help but feel pangs of jealousy seeing them together. She felt increasing lonely in a crowd.
