I stand on the beach staring at the setting sun
My feet dipped in wet sand, squishing water out.
The skies turn ocher and sun turns gold
I wait to see her parting through the crowd
Dhoondtha hoon tujhe har raah mein har mehfil mein
Thakk gaye hain, mere majboor-e-tamanna ke kadam.
My heart thinks she is searching in the clouds
For drops of rain which the sea once bated her
Maybe she will come tomorrow.
--o00o--
I stand by a plant and pluck an orange flower
She loves the color, the fruit and the flavor.
The skies turn ocher and sun turns gold
I wait to see her footprints pressing grass mound
Aur phir raha mein bikhre the hazaron naghmeMeri woh naghme teri awaaz ko de aaya tha
My heart thinks she is taking a dip in the lake
That once carried the scent of this orange flower.
Maybe she will come tomorrow.
--o00o--
I switch off the lights and burn some oil lamps
Their warmth and brightness reflect my heart.
The skies turn ocher and sun turns gold
I wait to see her shadow dancing on threshold.
Tere saaye ko samajh kar mein haseen Taj MahalChandni raat mein nazaronse tujhe pyar karoon
My heart thinks she is conversing with the moon
That has forgotten to tell me a hello tonight.
Maybe she will come tomorrow.
--o00o--
I run across the park, across the streets
To catch a fleeting glimpse of her sepia veil
The skies turn ocher and sun turns gold
The fleeting glimpse remains just a dream
Saamne aa ke zara parda utha de rukh se
Ik yahi mera ilaaj-e-ghum-e-tanhai hai
My heart thinks she is standing by a window
Looking down the streets and talking to the skies.
Maybe she will come tomorrow.
--o00o--
When I watched the sunset by the seashore,
She watched it by the lake.
When I picked an orange flower,
She picked a perfume for me.
When I was lighting oil lamps,
She was waiting in moonlight.
When I ran down the streets,
She was looking from a window.
She had always been there
Waiting for me
Every day when
the skies turned ocher and sun turned gold
Dil ko bhooli hui yaadon ka sahara dede
Waiting for me always..
