Narine's pinch-hitting proved to be a success for a few seasons before his weakness against fast and short deliveries was exploited and he became a liability at the top. But in 2024, he returned with an improved version of his batting and cracked open the game for his side with some explosive hits at the top. Heading into his sixth game of the season, not only does he boast of the most runs (127) and highest strike rate (201.59) among all players in the powerplay this season, but has also ensured that his team has been the most productive when the field restrictions are on (averaging 54.4 at a run-rate of 11.33), significantly ahead of the second best team - Mumbai Indians.

When Sunil Narine, the batter does well, Kolkata Knight Riders, the team does well. His performance as a pinch-hitter has been an anomaly in the Indian Premier League. Let alone finding success in that role, very few teams have even ventured into replicating that plan with their options.

It's been 22 days since KKR played at home, 63m and 66m square boundaries while the straight boundary is at 73m. It's very very hot today, the wicket looks fantastic, it looks good for batting and it should remain consistent. One of the fastest outfields in the country, the batters getting in can definitely cash in. Lots of runs on offer, the batters getting in can enjoy themselves, reckon Samuel Badree and Michael Clarke, in their pitch report.

For once, Lucknow Super Giants failed to defend a 160+ score, for once Kolkata Knight Riders couldn't fire in unison and ended up coming second best to Chennai Super Kings. It's a long tournament, but both teams are still smarting over their wounds and would want to get their campaign back on track. It's been a short turnover for the Super Giants, who last featured on Friday, and have had to traverse a small distance between Lucknow and Kolkata. On the other hand, the hosts are well rested following their game in Chennai and will now play back-to-back home games in a span of 3 days. It's a day game today and it's sweltering hot in Kolkata with the temperature expected to hover in the mid-30 region. With dew not expected to play any role, winning the toss and bat first could be the way to go for both captains.

Mustafa Moudi : "With 3 Wins already in their kitty, this is a golden opportunity for KKR to boost their Playoff Chances with 5 Continuous Matches at their Home - Eden. With No travelling or change in ground, they must capitalise on this opportunity!!"
