The investigation into the firing incident outside Bollywood star Salman Khan's residence on April 14 continues to unfold with intriguing developments. Recently, one of the accused arms suppliers linked to the case, Anuj Thapan, was reported to have died by suicide while in police custody.
Adding another layer of complexity to the case, the post-mortem examination of Anuj Thapan's body was conducted at Mumbai's JJ Hospital on Thursday, May 2. This crucial procedure was closely monitored by forensic experts and videographed for thorough documentation.
According to officials familiar with the matter, the post-mortem commenced around 4:15 pm and concluded approximately an hour later. However, the findings of the autopsy have not yet been made public, leaving room for speculation and anticipation regarding its implications for the ongoing investigation.
Reports claim that the post-mortem process faced delays due to legal and procedural hurdles. Initially scheduled for 1:30 p.m., the procedure was postponed due to incomplete paperwork.
Further complicating the situation, Thapan's relatives were reportedly en route to Mumbai, expected to arrive late in the evening via train.
For the unversed, the deceased's brother, Abhishek Thapan, cast doubt on the official narrative surrounding Anuj Thapan's demise. Speaking to ANI, he vehemently refuted claims of suicide, alleging foul play at the hands of law enforcement authorities. "He was not the kind who could have committed suicide. He was murdered by police. We want justice," Abhishek Thapan asserted, demanding accountability and transparency in the handling of his brother's case.
As the investigation into the firing incident and its aftermath unfolds, the circumstances surrounding Anuj Thapan's death add layers of intrigue and uncertainty.
