In an interview with India Forums, actress Ulka Gupta opened up about her role in The Kerala Story 2 and the controversies surrounding the film. She revealed that a director once refused to work with her, labeling her as “meme material” in the state because of the film’s sensitive subject matter.
Despite the backlash, Ulka said she remains committed to telling such stories as an artist. She explained that the film focuses on psychological manipulation and crimes against women, and shared that she has received letters from several women thanking her for highlighting these issues.
Addressing a controversial scene where a character is force-fed beef, Ulka clarified that the moment was not about the food itself. According to her, the scene was meant to portray the violation of a person’s will and religious beliefs, emphasizing the emotional and psychological trauma faced by the character.
