How did you enter this industry?
I used to work for DD Rajasthan as an anchor and then shifted to Reliance Company before joining the industry. I completed my M.B.A along with a friend thus fulfilling the desire of my father. But I was never really interested in it as I wanted to be an actor. I came down to Mumbai in 2005 and got my first break in one of the UTV shows but unfortunately it didn't work out. Then I got a chance in 'Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat'.
How did you bag the role of Yudishter in 'Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat'?
As I said, I came here to Mumbai and started giving auditions for shows and 'Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat' was one amongst them. It was quite a simple audition and the result was not known to me for almost a month, so I thought that I had failed. After that I went to another audition at the Hotel Shreejee in Andheri where I met Vishal-the producer of the show and asked about the outcome. He replied that I was under consideration but nothing had been finalized so far. I had gone as far as the Yari road, when I received a call for a look test and the rest is history.
How is Kapil in real life?
Kapil, in real life is very private man, one who is not comfortable in big groups. But that doesn't mean that I don't enjoy the company of my friends. I take some time to mingle which means that I cannot easily talk to a stranger. I don't like crowds or large groups. I love to party but with people I know well. I also like to be surrounded with persons that I know. If you bring one of your friends to meet me, I will totally go blank and fail to speak with him or her. I fear strangers.
How was your journey so far?
Fantastic! Right from 'Nach Baliye' till date, it has been fantastic; I have experienced the ups and downs of an actor's life. The channel usually treats an actor well when his popularity is at a high. But they are prompt to chuck him out as the trend reverses. The survival of an actor is dependent on his popularity.
What did you gain and lose from this industry?
There is no loss, I have always gained here. I have learned acting and facing the camera here. The director of Raja Ki…used to scold me for my mistakes. I am indebted to him as I have learnt a lot by this method. It was really fun to be in the industry. And last but certainly not the least, I gained the love of the audience. People just loved Kanjali. And what else can I want?
One memorable incident from the journey so far…
There are many. One that I can recall right now is being offered 'Nach Baliye' after I had wished to be a part of it as I had watched it as a lay man.
What would you prefer, a reality show or a daily soap?
My preference is really Bollywood. On the other hand, the reality shows are fun, you can enjoy yourself as you are no one there. You are, in fact, performing for yourself. A person can get to meet new people in reality shows and you get to socialize. We also get a lot of money in reality shows.
How can you describe yourself in a single word?
I am a fun loving person who can have different moods.
How did dancing came to you?
(Laughs) Dancing was always with me. I used to dance in Baraats (wedding) to hog the limelight so that people would notice me. I always loved dancing. I used to take part in competitions and win prizes for dancing when I was in school.
How do you feel about being a part of Star Parivar no longer?
It's a strange feeling for me as I had started my journey from Star Plus which ended rather abruptly. I have mixed feelings for the situation as I don't have anything in my hand right now. But I have hopes of achieving success by thinking positively.
What's next?
I do not plan anything as things never happen as planned. You also get to feel more happy and content when something unplanned comes your way.
Any message to your fans!
I love you all and thanks for loving me even now. I promise that you are going to see me soon. Once again Thanks for loving me. 'Khao Peo, Ash Karo', Rock on!
