Nah, while SM have some effect, let’s not ignore the fact that shows are themselves crap now, are boring and don’t bring the interest of viewers like previous shows used to bring or even the same shows previous gen’s used to bring . When I was talking about 2.5+ and 3+ trps, I meant just the recent times shows used to get that much. Of course, I have been watching itv since childhood too when shows used to get 10+ and 20+ trps. However, I am not expecting shows to get that much in current times. But less than 2.5 is extremely low in the current times. If the current shows were good, they would’ve been getting at least 2.5+ if not 3.0+. But it’s not. That’s because the quality of shows have declined. Anupama in the beginning years >>>> now. So of course, it will get such poor trps. It’s pointless to blame SM when the shows quality itself has declined. We don’t even get good chemistry between leads anymore nor any great drama anymore. When I was growing up trp used to be 10, 9, 8, 7 then it started going down as more technology became available on where to watch serials. What you're calling mediocre is Gold standard now.
Three to two years ago Ghum and Maa used to get between 3-4 in trp. As SM, becomes more popular of outlet and streaming channels to watch itv, ratings won't increase cause not many sitting and watching on tv at home. It isn't just television even movies theatres are closing cause people prefer watching on devices then going out. Maa still getting high 2's but I'm afraid that, may be it unless GEC, learn to incorporate SM viewership with home. BB that you used to break records, it isn't bringing it like it used to either, so unless you point to a show on another channels that braking and getting high rating, this is it.
BW PHs do the same and blame SM or viewers when there too it’s nepo actors with such poor acting, low screen presence, etc are what’s causing low viewership there. I would’ve blamed SM completely if itv shows or BW current movies were actually good but still getting poor viewership, but that’s not the case here. And the more I am growing, the more I realize the value of good writers. It’s sad neither majority of BW nor ITV fans realize great writers’ worth and give credit only to the actors.
You go on different channel it's the same story with different actors. Triangle and toxicity. 
and Liking jodi is the last thing I care about but it should be a instant feel not something you over think. I'm okay watching a show and leads not my favorite. I think 90's of itv shows I watched never cared for the lead not that I didn't like them but once show finished I didn't miss them.
