i dislike ashok as much as any good yhmian but raman's taunt that ashok needs to have a child before he can call himself a father didn't sit well with me. how is that any different than shagun telling ishita the same?

and if i'm not mistaken, in those early episodes, didn't ashok say something about his own kids being in hostel when talking about sending ruhi to one?

Rutu the question you have raised is a wonderful one but honestly I dont think it was too much not because I dislike Ashok but because there is clearly a difference in the way Raman and Shagun say those things.

When Shagun says those its to put down Ishita - make her feel infertile and claim a superiority over her - make it seem all Ishita has - a husband and child included are her rejects - and she ought to be grateful to Shagun for having dumped them in the first place so she could get the spoils so to speak.

But Raman - he isn't making a claim of superiority over here neither is he putting down Ashok just to establish some supremacy that feeds his ego - he is just laying down facts that for Ashok to have a family of his own - this so-called one which he has with Shagun and Adi under his roof, with her as his fiance and him as son - he wrecked apart a marriage, he was the one who chose to tempt a woman, a selfish woman so that he can gain something which perhaps he biologically is impaired to create - a child of his own.

Ishita never had to steal someone' husband or child - rather the child found love, comfort and security in her when she came in her contact...the man is being drawn to her because of who she is a a person despite having a resolution that he would have nothing to do with her post marriage she would only be the mother of his child.

The fact that Raman said the words have your own child were spoken because he wants Ashok to know just by being called dad no one becomes a father - like he told Shagun in the resort - bolne se maa nahi ban jaaogi, this to a woman who has given birth to both his kids.

there is a difference in being a parent and thinking you are one - nature and nurture are as different as chalk and cheese. Shagun always thinks she is a mother whenever it suits her fancy but that doesn't make her one... just like Ashok being called dad by Adi doesn't make him a father - cos he clearly doesn't have the feelings of one nor does he know what it entails.

That was the gist of that scene - it wasn't a veiled insult as it was an eyeopener in that regard.

I dont think it was rude to taunt ashok that way bcoz after whatever he did with raman and ruhi he deserves that...infact he deserve much more insults and taunts whatever raman said was less compared to the things whcih ashok did with raman and his kids...

So far in the show Ashok has not shown having medical condition where in he cannot father a child whereas Ishita has been shown that she cannot conceive medically. That entirely changes the situation. So it cannot be a taunt from Raman regarding any medical condition of Ashok.

Even if he has a medical condition Ashok still deserves this humiliation and more - cos then it would give a whole new perspective as to why he chose to break a marriage, have an affair with a married woman and tempt her into leaving her husband and child behind and take her son along with her.

Ashok has not been shown even once to have any real feelings for Shagun... then why pamper her silly? Why raise her son, something even his bro commented on... it seems to me Ashok doesn't want to declare he is impotent and hence chose to target Shagun as a perfect partner for him cos she is so narcissistic and materialistic she won't even bother thinking of having a child with him - like ever... so long as she has her spas and saris, jewelry and holidays she would be happy.

I could understand him raising Adi if he really loved Shagun too, how can you not love the child of someone you love even if you aren't a biological parent to them? And interestingly it would make more sense too if Ashok is impotent - cos who raises an enemy' son for the sake of revenge?

Here he can claim to be a bigger man if someone asks him about having a child of his own and say he doesn't want Adi to feel he might get a stepson treatment ever and is hence refraining to have a child of his own - while in reality he cannot have a child, something which a man can NEVER admit to and sometimes is a secret within even families...

A woman can have the strength and tolerance to bear insults and taunts if she is barren like Ishita has been shown to do, when filthy narrow minded people cross their path but a man just isn't that strong - his male ego and pride cant take that at all.

it was just to say that ashok has nothing which is his own;
as raman said his fiancee is raman 's ex and his so called son is also raman's; so he mean go and get something new which is yours!
