Hey guys,

Sorry for the late update and thanks for waiting.

Well, I'm just kidding 😉 because 'dosti mein no sorry and no thank you.'😳😳😳

Here are the next two chapters for you.

Hope you guys like it.

Chapter 3

They managed to get only halfway when the downpour started.

The rain came abruptly, hitting them like thousand shards of glasses.

The pitch black darkness ahead was so blinding it felt like an alien landscape from outer space.

"Parth, hurry up. We have to run." Vibha fumbled for Parth's hand. The lashing of rain against her face was making it difficult to even keep her eyes open, let alone seeing something.

Finally her fingers brushed against his skin and she wrapped them tightly around her wrist.

"RUN, Parth." she raised her voice over the howling of the chilly wind and both of them plunged into the darkness ahead.

A jagged bolt of lightning pierced the sky. Then came the thunderous rumbling of the clouds, making Vibha wince with panic.

She was actually scared to death by thunderstorms. It kept her awake and praying in stormy nights, even if she was safely tucked under her blanket in her cozy bedroom.

"Bappa jee please bacha lena." Vibha chanted under her breath.

She had been doing the same since her childhood, seeking the blessing of Lord Ganesha whenever she was in trouble. It gave her the strength to face even her greatest fears.

She heard a little chuckle coming from her right. "Mam, never knew you're so scared of lightning." Parth sounded a little amused.

Vibha rolled her eyes, even though he couldn't see it. "Mazaak mat karo, Parth. Hurry up or else..." Her words were interrupted by another flash of silver across the dark sky and she immediately went into the devotee mode. "He Bappa jee bacha le, jai Ganesh, Jai Ganesh, Jai Ganesh deva." she whispered fitfully.

"Mam, do you have any idea how cute you are?" Parth chuckled.

"Achcha so you think it's very funny? Tumhe toh darr bilkul bhi nahi lagta hai na?" Parth wished there was enough light to see Vibha's face, 'cause he was sure she's pouting at that moment and it must be cute as hell.

"Dekho Bhagwan jee ko lekar koi mazaak nahi, samjhe? Aur ek baat...Oh, OUCH!!"

Before she could realize what was happening, she found herself lying on the wet ground, face-down.
Apparently, her fancy heels were not so user-friendly during monsoon and had given up on her on the wet grass.

She found Parth's frame crouching over her "Mam, aap thik toh ho? Kya hua? Aap kaise gir gayee?" He asked breathlessly.

"Oh..uhh...no, I am fine. I slipped...it's just my shoes." Vibha nursed her ankle which felt numb. She then tried to stand up, ignoring the helping hand offered by Parth.

At first her right ankle was feeling like rubber. She took a step forward, and whimpered in pain. It was like being hit by multiple needles on the feet.

Too bad she had to limp the rest of her way home!

"Parth, I need a moment!" she gasped, trying not to limp and to maintain a steady pace.

Suddenly a pair of strong arms lifted her from the ground. She found herself nestled safely in those arms, her head leaning against a stone hard and wet surface,

The wild beating against her skin told her she was cradled to his chest.

"I am sorry mam, but you have to trust me on this." Parth's heavy breathing could've been a result of all those running, but Vibha wasn't sure. The pounding in his heart matched her own.

"I am going to carry you to your home, and trust me it will be fine." He comforted her as if she was a toddler. "Just close your eyes and pretend you are somewhere else. Anywhere but here. There is no thunder, no storm, just a beautiful valley with lots of flowers." He whispered softly in her ear.

Vibha squeezed her eyes shut and tried to focus on his voice. She really needed to imagine she was somewhere else now. Not cradled in the arms of her student in a stormy night, soaked like a homeless bird.

She tried to ignore how strong his muscles felt beneath that t-shirt, which was hugging his frame like a second skin now. She tried not to think of the warm spots forming on her cheek when it brushed against his bare, wet chest again and again.

*Vibha Anand, you stupid girl. YOU REALLY HAVE A DEATH WISH!" a voice in her head warned her.

"We are almost there. Just another couple of minutes." Parth's voice was breathy.

*Then why does it feel like eternity?* Vibha just wanted to get over with it.

Or did she really?

********************************************************************

"Mam, ab aap ankhen khol sakti hain. Aap ka ghar aagaya."

Vibha opened her eyes slowly, only to found herself staring at the black wooden doors of her cottage.

Vibha's little cottage was about a mile away from the main building. When she joined Warrior High as a teacher, Anwesha mam was gracious enough to offer her this lodging arrangement near to the school premises. The previous owner was a physicist who was presently teaching in a Canadian University.

Vibha was eternally grateful to Anwesha Rajput for being such a caring soul, until today of course, when the distance of a mere mile seemed like eternity.

She could still hear the steady drumming of his heart when Parth slowly lowered her to the ground. He carefully maintained his grip on her shoulders even after she was back on her feet.

"Ek baat kahoon, agaar aap bura na mane toh. Waise aap dikhti itni bhaari nahi ho, jitna ki aap actually ho." Parth's voice had a hint of smile in it.

"Parth! That's too HARSH." Vibha said in a mock-hurt tone. Inside, she was dying of embarrassment .

She limped towards the door, nodding her head to show that she was fine.

She wasn't sure though whether she actually was.

She fished out the key from under the flower pot and unlocked the door. The familiar warmth and cozy comfort of her room beckoned her as she stepped inside.

"Arre Parth, tum bahar kyon khade ho. Aandar aao, please. Come on in." She was surprised to see him standing outside.

"Nahi Mam, aap aram kijiye, Main chalta hoon." Parth sounded hesitant. His eyes were fixed on the floor.

"Are you crazy? Itni baarish mein main tumhe kahin nahi jaane dungi. Tum andar aao. I will get you a fresh towel. Get yourself dry or else you'll catch cold faster than anything. " Vibha scolded him with the same authoritative tone she used in the classroom sometimes.

"Those things can wait, but you need to take care of yourself first. You're hurt." Parth sounded genuinely concerned, so much like her dadi that Vibha couldn't suppress a little smile.

"I think we both need to change first." Vibha pointed at the floor, "My carpet is soaking wet already. I can feel it."

She pressed the light switch, but nothing happened. They both stood in the impenetrable darkness.

"Oh God! the power cut now-a-days. Zara si baarish kya hui, and the light's gone." Vibha sighed.

"Ek minute, main candle leke aati hoon." She took carefully measured steps towards the kitchen, where she kept the candles and a box of matchsticks on the lower rack.

A few moments later, she came back with a lit candle in one hand, her other hand protecting the flame flickering and dancing in the wind.

Chapter 4

"Parth, tum washroom jaake change kar lo. You will get fresh sets of towel there. I will get you some dry cloths." Vibha was busily churning out instructions till her eyes fell on Parth.

The strange patterns of light and shadows seemed to enhance every attractive feature the boy possessed. The wet t-shirt was hugging every inch of his chiseled torso, the transparent fabric revealing the rippling muscles beneath it.

His hair was slick and constantly dripping. The water droplets streamed down, tracing his jawline, kissing his neck and finally rolling down his bare chest.

Vibha's voice faltered as words seemed to fail her miserably. She forced herself to avert her gaze, ignoring the heat that was steadily creeping up her neck.

"Can I get you something warm? Like a cup of coffee or something?" she noticed how he was shivering a little and immediately her heartfelt another guilty pang.

Parth was fighting every instinct not to steal another glance at her beautiful face. In the glowing orange flame of the candle light, her beauty seemed ethereal.

*She must be an angel. Koi itni khubsoorat kaise ho sakti hai!* He wondered inwardly.

He wanted to tell her she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. That she had the purest heart of them all.

He wanted to tell her how much he needed her, in his life; but as usual, his vocal chord betrayed him once again and all he could manage was briefly shaking his head.

"Mam, you are forgetting something. Yeh sab baad mein bhi ho sakta hai, but first we need to take a good look at your injury." He said with a little frown.

"Fiqr mat karo, Parth. I am absolutely fine. Kuch nahi hua mujhe." Parth could tell she was trying to act brave, but her little wince of pain every time she took a step didn't escape him.

"Where do you keep your medicine? Tell me, I will get them for you." Parth was clearly not in a mood to let it go.

"All right, fine!" Vibha sighed "God, you are so STUBBORN! It's in the medicine cabinet. You need not get them for me. I will go and bring something." She tried not to limp her way towards the cabinet.

The medicine cabinet was adjacent to her bedroom. It was a small, closet like space with glass cabinets holding old bottles of cough syrups, files of tablets, old crape bandage (which were sometimes used by dadi), anti-septic lotions and cotton balls.

Vibha set up the candle on the bottom-most rack and scanned the place for something useful, like a can of pain-killer spray or a tube of healing balm.

Finally her eyes found what she was looking for and she let out a loud groan in despair.

A can of 'fast-relief' spray was resting on the top-most rack. It was definitely out of reach for her, and judging by the height, she doubted even Parth couldn't aim for that.

She wandered how it ended up there.

*Heck, isn't everything out of reach the moment they are needed the most?* she thought bitterly.

"Think you could get that?" Vibha almost jumped with shock, realizing Parth had entered the cabinet and was standing behind her.

"Not in my lifetime." Vibha said in a resigned tone.

"How about NOW?"

Before she could react, Parth wrapped his arms around her waist, lifting her abruptly from the ground and to a height from where she could manage to get hold of the can, with a little stretching of course.

Her nervous fingers wrapped around the bottle, but they were trembling too much. She lost her grip momentarily and dropped the bottle.

It crashed against the burning candle, extinguishing the flame and drowning the tiny cabinet into pitch black darkness.

"Sh*t" Vibha heard him muttering under his breath. Vibha found herself being gently lowered on the floor, till her feet found the ground beneath them again.

The nervous energy wrecking her body made her sway a little. Her head was swimming with the sudden jerking movement.

She lost her balance and fall back hard against his chest.

"Ouch! I'm so...sorry."
"Mam, aap thik toh ho na?"

Both of them moved at the same time. Vibha looked up to mumble an awkward apology. At the same instant, Parth was bending down to give her a better support.

During all the confusion and hurried movements, his lips brushed against her accidentally.

***************************************************************************************************

Both of them stood frozen to the spot, none of them daring to make another movement. Vibha's heartbeat accelerated ten fold, realizing how close they actually were in that tiny confined space.

Her mouth went dry as she felt his breath softly warming up her cheeks. A few strands of his hair were tickling her forehead. She heard him swallowing hard, and suddenly the strange feverish sensation was back in her veins.

"Mam." Parth whispered. His breathing intensified. She could almost feel the heat radiating from his body, despite both of them being covered in layers of damp clothing.

She sighed softly on his neck. A voice in her head screamed in alarm, but she ignored it. She ignored it till it wandered off and let the velveteen darkness cover her in it's soft embrace.

She could sense him leaning towards her. His hot, heavy breathing burning her cheeks now. A part of her wanted to stop him, but she knew it was too late.

She wanted it to happen as much as he wanted it.

The temperature inside the cabin seemed to have soared like a furnace. It was crackling with some unseen vibes that was passing between both of them. Vibha was melting in it. She was a hot, sweltering mess.

The pain of the waiting was unthinkable. The pleasure of the waiting was unbearable.

Her breath was coming in shallow gasps, till she stopped breathing completely, when a pair of soft, cold lips captured the side of her mouth.

The first contact was brief and tentative, as he was unsure how to handle it. but it opened a floodgate of emotions in his heart, giving her a glimpse of the passionate desire being harbored in it.

Parth wasn't able to contain himself anymore and he decided to go for it. He captured her lips once again, sensing with relief her silent consent in it. This was the first time he's kissing a girl, and he had no idea how to make it perfect.

The only thing he knew that this moment was PERFECT! There was magic in this moment.

SURPRISE! ONE MORE PART BELOW. 😛 READ ON IF YOU WANT TO.

CONTINUED...

His trembling fingers cradled her neck. He pulled her closer, deepening the kiss.

For a few moments, Vibha was in a trance. Her whole body went numb. All she could sense was the touch of his lips on hers, but slowly all her senses started awakening as the gentle feathery touch on her lips grew deeper, hungrier.

The tip of his tongue slowly traced her lips, pleading her to let him in. A soft moan escaped her lips. Her lifeless, doll-like posture vanished for a moment as her arms wrapped around his broad shoulders.

The little parting of her lips was enough for him to explore her mouth. The sweetness and warmth of the feeling was making him dizzy.

"Oh...God!" He moaned as her nails clawed deeper into his biceps.

Parth felt like losing himself in a purple haze. Everything inside him was on fire. The girl standing in front of him was the woman of his dreams. He could never tell her how much he wanted her, until now.

But she was going to be someone else's soon.

The idea was enough to send him to the edge. He abruptly broke the kiss and pulled her into a crushing embrace. He buried his face on her neck. The fruity smell of her shampoo and the jasmine like fragrance that seemed to be wafting out of her skin slowly engulfed him.

"I can't let you go." He breathed. "You are mine...only mine. You know that." He chanted under his breath.

"I love you, mam."

He couldn't believe he said that.

He couldn't believe how wonderful it felt to open his heart out to her, even if for once.

But what's next?

Parth waited with bated breath. He desperately wanted her to say something.

Even though her one word could make or break his world right now, yet he couldn't live without knowing her answer.

But the answer never came.

Parth realized with growing uneasiness that Vibha had gone completely silent in his arms.

In fact, she appeared not to be breathing at all. She stood there like a wax statue.

Parth waited in the deafening silence, till he felt a wet touch on his neck.

A fresh drop of water fell on his neck, followed by another one. The silent tremors wrecking her body told him she was crying.

He took several steps back, releasing her from his arms. His helpless gaze followed her as she rushed out of the tiny cabin.

He could barely make out her form silhouetted against the grey night sky. She was standing near the window, leaning her forehead against the glass panes.

There was something so delicate, so vulnerable about the moment that Parth's heart told him not to shatter it.

But he needed to KNOW!

He gathered the courage to walk up to her and gently placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Mam, please kuch toh kahiye. Please aap royiye mat, mam." He pleaded.

A lump was forming in his throat. Something had gone wrong, but he couldn't exactly place what it was.

Had he accidentally hurt her? Was she upset because of him? Because of what just happened?

His nightmare seemed to be turning into reality as Vibha shrugged his hand off her shoulder.

"Parth, tum please yahan se chale jao." her voice was hoarse with tears.

Parth couldn't believe himself. A moment ago, he was so sure that she felt it too. She too was in love with him.

And now, she was suddenly behaving as if she didn't know him!

It broke his heart so badly that it took him some moments to recover. After a brief pause, he cleared his throat and spoke again.

"Mam, aap meri taraf ek baar dekhiye. Please mam, aise naraaz mat hona. Aagar aap itni naraaz ho gayi toh...mujhe pata nahi main kya karunga. I love you, mam. Bahut pyaar karta hoon..."

His words were silence by a rude, hard slap, hurled none other than by Vibha.

The echo of it reverberated across the empty room.

The impact reverberated across two hearts.

Parth stood there motionless, his one hand slowly nursing his hurt. He seemed to be struggling to form a coherent word.

"Look Parth, tumhare aur mere beech kabhi kuch nahi ho sakta, YOU UNDERSTAND? Agaar tumhare dil mein mere liye zara sa bhi izzat hai, toh dobara mere samne kabhi mat aana.

NOW GET OUT OF MY HOUSE. JUST GO AWAY." Vibha turned her face away from him, pointing sharply to the door.

She didn't look back even once, when he walked away with slow, defeated steps.

She didn't need any light to sense the utter disbelief in his eyes, the enormous pain brimming in them.

As soon as he stepped outside, Vibha dropped to her knees, rocking back and forth with silent sobs.

"Why? Oh, God, Why? Kyon ho gaya yeh sab? Bappa jee, kyon ho gaya?"

Nobody answered. Outside, the wind howled, rattling the loneliness inside the little cottage.

*******************************************************************************************************
The next day, when the last bell rang, Utkarsh came to her seat and nervously handed her a folded piece of paper.

"Mam, yeh aapke liye. Parth ne diya." His expression was unusually grave.

The mere mention of his name sent a big jolt to Vibha's heart, but she didn't show it.

"Why has he not come to school today? Is Parth all right?" She frowned. An unknown fear was gnawing at her heart.

"He wanted you to read this." Utkarsh's lips were pressed in a hard line. He left without saying another word.

Vibha opened the letter with trembling fingers. It said,

Mam,

You said 'Zindagi mein dobara mere saamne mat aana.'

Aap ko pata hai how much your words mean to me.

I promise you will never see my face again.

Main jaa raha hoon, aapki aur apni zindagi se bahut dur.

Don't worry I won't do anything stupid.

If you ever feel alone, humesha yaad rakhna ke iss badi si duniya ke kisi chote se kone mein kissi ke duaon mein aap sada shamil rahengi.

Forgive me. I can't stop loving you. Ever.

There was no name at the bottom.

Vibha crumpled the paper in her hands. Fresh tears were streaming down her cheeks. She pressed the letter against her tear streaked cheeks and whispered

"I love you too, Parth."

P.S To all my wonderful WH friends and fellow VibhArth-ians, like many of you, I am also a big believer in Happy Ending. ❤️

That's why I originally planned to continue this story, with a time-leap (in typical desi daily soap style) 😆 of 4 years, after which our star-crossed couple meet again.

Parth, for a change, will be Vibha's office boss this time and she will be reporting to him. 😉

Does it sound fun? Do let me know if you want me to continue the story.

Till then, good night and sweet VibhArthlicious dreams.
