I think makers did this on purpose. They don't want 2 sets of shippers. They lost last time with the fanbase divided between ekleen and nekham.
Aliya's character was like this from day 1. She beat up the lady at the dance trope in the introductory episode. At that time it appeared to be more like childishness and possessiveness.
I thought she "will grow" out of it because FL's daughter can't be negative. Don't think that is happening anytime soon.
Exactly. They do not want to take a risk of having two strong shippers. Intially, Almaan had a strong fanbase and with this development it will gradually drop. There are still some Almaan shippers. Once they make her a super villain they will also move on from Almaan.
I also noticed the behaviour of Alia. From day 1, her actions were reckless and rebellious. She thinks she can get what she wants. Alish also mentioned it in an interview prior to the beginning of leap. I overlooked all the behaviour because I thought she would grow up ,as you mentioned, because she is FL's daughter. It is kind of an iron rule in ITV universe that FL's daughters are, generally, saint (or at least one of them). So I had a tiny hope that she wouldn't go this far. But that was wishful thinking of mine.
On a side note, although Harleen is not Alia's biological mother, she is by nature her actual mother. Aasma should have been Nehmat's daughter. I wonder how Harleen's gene kicked in Alia's
...murderous gene will kick in the moment Armaan leave her for Aasma.
