Mere Apne is a gripping family drama that revolves around a traditional north Indian family that holds itself together against all odds. Produced by Smriti Irani's Ugraya Productions in association with Applause Entertainment, Mere Apne, features the best names from the film and television industry. Bollywood Superstar Vinod Khanna teams up with the first Bahu of television – Smriti Irani, to present an engrossing family entertainer starting November 12 at 10 pm every Monday to Thursday, only on 9X.

'Mere Apne' is the story of a family headed by Kashinath Pandey (Vinod Khanna) and Sharda Pandey (Smriti Irani), proud parents who have instilled great values in their children, Aditya, Vrinda and Shanker.

Speaking about his character, Vinod Khanna aka Kashinath Pandey, said "Mere Apne is not just another family saga; rather, it goes much beyond that in a whole new and far more significant and entertaining manner."

Shot in the beautiful locales of Madhya Pradesh and Benaras, Mere Apne also has some of the most magnificent sets designed by Omang Kumar, who is also behind the grand sets of 'Saawariya' .

Speaking on her co-star Smriti Irani who plays Sharda Pandey, says, "I was extremely scared of how I could convince Vinodji to be a part of this show. Television is based upon demanding schedules. But when Vinodji heard the script, he agreed on the first day itself. I was scared that the pace of television might be too much for him, but he has not only kept up to speed, his is much faster than mine too!!"

Roop Kumar Rathod and Shweta Pandit have sung the title track of Mere Apne penned by acclaimed lyricist Sameer.

Mere Apne has powerful performers like veteran film actor Gauri Nigudkar, Amit Jain and Sidh Makkard in dynamic roles. And, of course, leading the powerful cast are the superstars Vinod Khanna and Smriti Irani, who will charm you and force you to fall in love with them.

Kashinath Pandey lives in Benaras with his wife Sharda and four children - Aditya, Shanka, Vrinda and Rashi. He enjoys the status of a demi God and is considered as the symbol of morality and righteousness by the people of Benaras. Kashinath has always nurtured a dream that his son Aditya should become a doctor and run a charitable hospital in the city. For him, his second son Shankar is good for nothing, and his daughter Vrinda is Kashinath's very reflection, and the apple of his eye. Kashinath will do anything to keep his family together.

Sharda Pandey
Played by: Smriti Irani

Sharda Pandey is Kashinath's wife and mother of Aditya, Shankar, Vrinda and Rashi. She is the ideal wife and the ideal mother. She manages the house and takes care of the entire family. She supports her husband and children in all their decisions. While her husband is treated like a demi-God in Baneras, Sharda too is a strong-minded and devoted wife.

The oldest child of Sharada and Kashinath Pandey.  He is the apple of his father's eye.  He life is dictated by his father.  He is not allowed to make his own choices and conforms to his father's wishes and expectations. His father wanted him to study medicine and send him overseas.  But with the taste of freedom, he fell in love with divorcee Sanya and married her.  He did not want to return to Benaras but Sanya insisted.  Upon his return, he has been thrust with duties of building and running a charitable hospital. His marriage was arranged to Abha, a childhood friend, without his consent. Just before the marriage takes place, he tells Abha about his married status and flees.

Sanya

A divorcee doctor from America. She is Aditya's wife.  An orphan, she insisted Aditya return to Benaras to be with family as she longs to have one too.

Shankar Pandey
Played by: Sid Makkar

The younger son of Sharada and Kashinath.  He is a rebel and has a fighting spirit. He does what he feels is right and refuses to conform to the wishes of his parents.  He acts first and thinks later. An impulsive man. Always sees the bad in others before the good.  Often misunderstood by his father, he has his support in his mother. He is the opposite of daddy's boy Aditya.

Vrinda Pandey
Played by: Gauri Nigudkar

Vrinda Pandey is Kashinath and Sharda's daughter. In mental make up and attitudes, Vrinda is Kashinath's spitting image, and the centre of all his affection. To Vrinda, family is everything, and like her father, she is determined to hold it together against all odds.

Taiji/Jiji
Played by: Kishori Vij

The widow of Kashinath's brother Visvanath.  She has a daughter Krishna. She is Banu Pratab's sister. She blames Kashinath for the death of her husband and hence holds a grudge against him. Her motto is the destruction of Kashinath Pandey.

Shakti
Played by: Shakti Singh

Husband to Krishna. A lawyer. He too wants the destruction of Kashinath Pandey.

Krishna Pandey Singh
Played by: Delnaaz Paul

Daughter of Taiji/jiji.  She is married to Shakti Singh and has a son Nirbhay.  She is very close to Vrinda.  A movie buff, she equates every moment in her life to a movie scene.  A great sense of humour and a gentle hearted individual.  The opposite in nature to her mother.

Once upon a time, Bhanupratap Singh and Kashinath Pandey were great friends; now, they are bitter enemies. In fact, Bhanuparatap is perhaps the only enemy Kashinath has in Benaras. Bhanu is just out after spending 14 years in jail, and he now wants revenge.

Maya Banu Pratab Singh
Played by: Mandeep

A childhood friend of Sharada who is the wife of Banu Pratab. She conforms to the will of her husband. She has a son, Vikram.  The only light in her life.  For her son's happiness, she is willing to do anything.


Vikram Banu Pratab Singh
Played by: Rohit Bakshi

The only child of Maya and Banu Pratab.  He lived his schooling years in Delhi with his naniji.  He is not aware of the enmity between his father and Kashinath.  He is a collector in Benaras.  He is in love with Vrinda Kashinath Pandey.  He is a good boy. He and Banu do not get along.

Abha
Played by: Mihika Varma

The only daughter of Jagat, a good friend of Kashinath.  Her marriage was fixed to Aditya.  After Aditya's disclosure of his marriage to Sanya, she shot herself in the head and died.
