When Dia Mirza bit biscuit off SRK's mouth

15th July 2007 20.55 IST
By ApunKaChoice

It was not a romantic scene but a shoot for an advertisement.

Dia Mirza and Shah Rukh Khan recently shot a commercial for a biscuit brand. The ad shows Dia and Shah Rukh as two lovers who have a tiff after which Dia teases him.

One part of this teasing shows SRK nibbling on a biscuit and Dia snatching it away with her teeth from his mouth.

While the shot was supposed to be canned in just a few takes, Dia got repeatedly nervous while biting the biscuit from SRK's mouth. Sometimes, she was unable to bite properly, and sometimes there would be an expression of awkwardness on her face.

However, the director of the commercial, Vishal Punjabi, showed remarkable patience with Dia.

Even SRK was very co-operative despite the fact that he had to eat many biscuits because of so many retakes.

Finally, Dia got her focus and gave a perfect shot. She got adequately close to SRK and bit the biscuit off his mouth.

By the end of the day, the team had gorged on more than two-dozen packets of biscuits.

SRK And Anupam Recreate Magic

SRK and Anupam whoop it up for Heyy Babyy

On Monday,a bit of very hush-hush post-completion extra-special shooting for Sajid Khan, who's much-talked about take on Leonard Nimoy's Three Men & A Baby entitled Heyy Babyy is being readied for release.

However, there was one song, accompanied by a few comic scenes left. Says a source, "Sajid wanted Shah Rukh to make an appearance in his directorial debut. After all, his sister Farah Khan has directed both her films with SRK in the lead. When Sajid requested Shah Rukh to put in a guest appearance in Heyy Babyy, SRK agreed without a second thought. His only condition was that Sajid would have to wait until SRK returned from his family holiday in London."

The minute SRK returned to Mumbai he allotted the dates to the anxious debutante director.

From Monday, SRK's comic scenes and songs with Anupam Kher were shot at Film City. Apparently Sajid has tried to create the same chemistry Anupam and Shah Rukh had created in Aditya Chopra's Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Mahesh Bhatt's Chahat and Amol Palekar's Paheli.

Says the source, "The crew was in splits watching the duo's antics. The unit had a ball on Monday at Film City. Anupam and Shah Rukh added to Sajid Khan equalled a laugh riot. Loud laughter and grand guffaws kept emanating from the studio floors where they were shooting."

Shah Rukh Khan is smitten

14 Jul, 2007 02:49 pm ISTlINDIATIMES MOVIES

The Khan is in some great shape these days, so much so that even actor Hrithik Roshan is asking him for some fitness tips. Too busy and upbeat about his next production venture Om Shanti Om, that'll introduce the sexy model, Deepika Padukone to the filmi duniya , we hear the girl has already impressed Shah much. If a unit member is to be believed, Shah Rukh is extremely accessible to everyone on the sets and people can enter his makeup van at anytime they please, but the actor-producer is extremely partial to newbie Deepika. Is this partiality upsetting? As long as the other members don't seem to mind, and work is going on fine, there is shanti galore on the sets. Om Shanti Om, we say.

SRK statue to be unveiled in Paris

By MovieTalkies.com, 16 July 2007

This is a new one for Shah Rukh Khan. The reigning Hindi film Badshah will soon become the first Indian actor to find a place at the French Graven Museum in Paris. A statue of the actor will soon be installed at the museum.

The actor is feeling quite honoured. He already has a wax statue at Madame Tussauds in London where he has the likes of Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwariya Rai for company. In fact, SRK has received quite a few honours and laurels in recent times. He has recently been awarded the Officier dans Lettres by the French Government for his prolific output and his contribution to the development of Indo-French cooperation in the field of cinema. The French Graven museum has statues of author Salman Rushdie and writer-activist Mahashweta Devi, and SRK will soon be joining their illustrious company.

Yashraj Films under fire from Indian Women's hockey body

By MovieTalkies.com, 16 July 2007

Things are not going too well for Yashraj films. Their last three films – Kabul Express, Tara Ra Rum Pum and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom – have not had a good outing at the box office. And their latest offering Chak De India too seems have run into problems even before its release.

The women's hockey association of India is apparently very upset with Yashraj Films and has demanded a screening of the film to ensure that the players have been portrayed in the right manner. According to the hockey association head honcho, they helped Yashraj Films with a lot of inputs and therefore feel it's only fair that they get to see the film before its release. The hockey association has alleged that they never heard from the production house after they helped them out with the research.

Shah Rukh Khan to feature in wildlife conservation awareness campaign

By MovieTalkies.com, 17 July 2007

The Honorable President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in a message, has said, "India's wildlife and natural environment is the pride of our great Nation - it sustains our people, enriches our lives and lends benefits to all the people of the world. To cherish and protect this magnificent heritage is a privilege and a duty that all the citizens ought to undertake responsibly for the benefit of posterity."

Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in a wildlife conservation awareness campaign shortly. Sanskara Development Trust, along with the Asian Conservation Awareness Programme (ACAP) / WildAid, will launch a national educational awareness campaign on wildlife conservation. The campaign is a multi–media education and awareness campaign that aims to protect the future of the world's endangered wildlife by drastically reducing consumer demand for endangered species parts and products.

With the support of the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF), the campaign will run on leading television networks like Doordarshan, National Geographic, Discovery/Animal Planet, CNN IBN, NDTV, India TV, among others. The Airports Authority of India (AAI), Ministry of Civil Aviation, and Parliamentarians in India have also supported the campaign that will start with the broadcast of superstar Shah Rukh Khan's message across all international and domestic airports.

Shah Rukh highlights the challenges faced by forest guards in protecting India's wildlife in his message, "……… he is our nation's unsung hero - the Indian Forest Guard. He is a real life hero because he does this to save the jungle, and the animals that live there... day in and day out, he is matching wits & battling powerful enemies - wildlife poachers & timber smugglers, and he is willing to lay down his life for this".

After seeking help from The Women's Hockey Association of India for SRK starrer Chak De India, Yashraj Films has kept the association in dark about the actual portrayal of players in the film

After three disappointing films, Kabul Express, Tara Ra Rum Pum and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, there is still no peace for Yashraj Films. Their trump card, Chak De India, reportedly, has run into trouble even before it has released. The Women's Hockey Association of India is pretty upset with Yashraj Films and has demanded a screening of the film to see if they have portrayed the players in the right manner.

Vidya Stoke, President of the Women's Hockey Association of India says, "We want to see the movie before its release. Couple of years ago, when the movie was in the planning stage, Yash Chopra sought help from us. We were more than happy to help them thinking that it would create awareness about the sport in the country. They took a lot of inputs from us and it has helped them big time in making the movie. It's only fair that we get to see it before the release"

She added, "However, after we helped them out with research, we never heard from them. Now, we got to know that the movie is releasing very soon, but they have not kept us posted about it. We should have been given the script of the movie so that we could have an idea about how they have portrayed women's hockey in the film. We want a pre-release screening of the film. That's it."

Chak De India is based on the women's hockey. The movie shows women players from different corners of the country. The entire team enacts a team of underdogs and how things change with a new coach (Shah Rukh Khan) at the helm of affairs.

The team of underdogs gets their self-confidence, and finally wins a championship.

Stoke lets us in on the reason behind her displeasure. "Our women's hockey team is doing really good. If they are showing that they are turning women hockey players from zero to hero, that's really unfair. That will reflect badly on our team. A coach enables players to perform well and never transforms them from zero to hero, not in our team at least," she said.

She finally says "If they are portraying us in a bad light, we are going to take serious action against them."

Yashraj Films' spokesperson remained unavailable for comment.
