They say art imitates life, but the other way round is also true. What we see on screen influences us to lead our life that way.

When for decades you portray female leads being tortured in every relationship and yet they never crib or complain (only allowed to cry) and always the first to forgive and forget, it slowly seeps into the psyche of the society as the benchmark of women. Women are portrayed as rehab centres for men. The man can be rude, arrogant, selfish and what not but it is the woman who.will transform him and bring him back to the right path.

Sadly, this is far from reality. Habits can be changed, not the core values. When women try to live upto these unrealistic standards set by TV shows, they are bound to fail.

And if a woman dares to raise her voice against abuse or oppression and calls out the hypocrisy, she is branded as difficult. They blame the woman of being stubborn and adamant and incapable of handling her relationships.

That's the reason why it is so important to show strong female characters on screen who set an example for the young gals watching it. It is equally important to represent real men on screen who can set an example on what it is to be a green flag.

Perhaps only then we will start having matured audiences who clearly understand the distinction between abuse and romance. Currently abuse is portrayed as romance in every show. The problem is men recreate the same abuse in real life and women confuse it as romance and stick around. What a mess! 😞 😞

Wahi toh! We need New and daring creators. People who will make the difference. ITV need that

Strange similarities b/w Babita and Bhavani - both advising their daughters to stay in the relationship. While Babita's advise was explicit and unambiguous, cant wrap my head around Bhavani's advise yet.

Hell yeah! I'm obsessed with her since I came to know her from Code M. I love her acting.

Just like in KMTMG I'm in love with Jeran's friendship tabhi I watch it. My current two shows for the leads (Srijit and Jeran) + IPKKND that I started two weeks ago.

Do you follow it too?

High time!

In OTT web series, women are fighting terrorists with guns. In ITV shows, they are fighting ex-wife/gf while holding aarti ki thaali. Uff the contrast πŸ˜ƒ

I swear. Issue is ITV love saas Bahu (relatable Na, the abla nari Bahu and blablabla), but what we saw growing up and what the New Gen is seeing smiley11 Better our shows with dum tan Na Na in BG. Zameen aur asmaan ka farak. Simply, from a decade, ITV Lost its charm.

So we need a EK 2.0 (man or woman) to enter the business and change some stuff. Why not inspire themselves with western show and give it a desi tadka🀷 Why always a bechari girl? Why not an Independent girl? Why not a businesswoman vs. a businessman? Why always stick to the ITV norms? Why not a female duos? And I Can do on...

Totally agree πŸ‘

The point is target audience. When EK started with her shows in the late 90s, it was targeted towards women, especially the homemakers. The initial slots were also afternoon slots when women are relatively free as husbands would be in office and children at school. To cater to this segment, they brought in stories that relatable to them at a personal level - marriage, inter personal relationships, daily chores, etc. Sadly, though the women now have evolved since their 90s counterparts, the EK template hasn't seen any update.

Also, new concepts are experimented on OTT platforms but itv space still caters to the 90s mindset. The producers might think that a very innovative concept might face challenges in acceptance with the itv audience who is not used to it. So, the same channel might go for different content in different medium. That's how they are doing product segmentation for their different customer segments. 😊

And we are not the target segment for this showπŸ˜ƒ
