The flairs, for example, are useless for every other forum barring Current Affairs or sports. How many different topics can an itv serial possibly induce that we need different flairs? Reddit is a different platform, has different set of functionality.

You already had actor and show tags as a sorting tool. The flairs just clutter the look and interface of the site.

Y'all also need to get moderation done by paid employees who can actually act beyond their biases. The hate speech and conspiracy theories that get platformed here will actually be dealt very swiftly and seriously on other social media platforms.

If it's logistically not possible to have professional moderation, then you as a site owner should properly lay out what your moderation team considers "hate speech", "bullying", "harrassment" etc. to the users so that we know how moderation works or should ideally work.

This again is not reddit or 4chan. Forums here don't act as subreddits.

Hi Blueeeee,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns. I appreciate your feedback and would like to address each point you’ve raised.

Flairs and Their Usefulness:

While I understand your perspective, flairs have proven to be quite useful in many areas of the forum. They help in categorizing and organizing topics, making it easier for users to find relevant discussions. For example, in forums related to current affairs, sports, and even some popular TV shows, flairs have been instrumental in improving the user experience. They provide a visual cue that helps in quickly identifying the nature of the content. We are always open to suggestions on how we can improve their implementation to make them more beneficial for everyone.

Actor and Show Tags:

Actor and show tags are indeed useful and will continue to be an important part of our sorting tools. Flairs are an additional feature designed to complement these tags, not replace them. We aim to enhance the overall organization of the forums and make navigation more intuitive.

Moderation Concerns:

Moderation is a crucial aspect of maintaining a healthy and respectful community. As we expand into new areas like the Current Affairs, Sports, and IPL forums, we are continuously learning and adapting to the unique challenges they present. Our moderation team comprises dedicated volunteers who work hard to uphold community standards.

We are working towards:

  • Clear Guidelines: Providing more transparent and detailed moderation policies, including guidelines on what constitutes "hate speech," "bullying," "harassment," etc., and which topics are appropriate for GA.
  • Continuous Improvement: We are committed to continuously improving our moderation practices to ensure fairness and transparency. We will leverage AI to automate many processes, making moderation more efficient and effective.

Platform Differences:

We recognize that our platform is different from Reddit or 4chan (honestly never heard about it) and has its unique community and functionality. Our aim is not to replicate these platforms but we may take inspiration from features that we feel can enhance our user experience while maintaining our distinct identity.

We are committed to improving the forum based on user feedback and creating a space where everyone feels comfortable and heard. If you have any specific suggestions on how we can improve flairs or any other aspect of the forum, please feel free to share.

Best regards,

I recall you saying that you were planning on creating something known as Sub Forums. Is there any update on this at all? Could this be implemented in the next update?

At this time, we are not planning to introduce Sub Forums. With the recent changes and enhancements we have implemented, we believe these features will address the organizational needs and improve user experience more effectively.

Regarding flairs, I kinda find it repetitive, in the sense, the title name of the topic is already mentioned, so then what's the point of the search feature?

Also, kinda feels bit cluttered to the eyes or something whenever scrolling. Just sharing.

Dear India Forums Members,

We are thrilled to share some exciting news about the amazing features and enhancements we’re working hard on to make your experience on India Forums even better! Here’s a sneak peek into what’s coming your way:

  1. Enhanced Navigation:
We're restructuring our navigation to make it easier for you to find your way around the site. The new design will include a prominently displayed Translate option, allowing you to read the site in your preferred local language. You'll also be able to jump straight to topics of interest directly from the navigation menu.

  2. Cooling Off Period for Account Deactivation:
We understand that sometimes users need a break. We're introducing a cooling-off period for deactivated accounts, after which the account will be permanently deleted. We're considering a period of 3 to 6 months for this change. More details will be shared soon.

  3. Reorganized and Expanded Categories:
We’re reorganizing our categories and adding some interesting new ones to expand into newer areas of discussion. This will help us cater to a wider range of interests and make India Forums even more engaging for everyone! We are also changing the page so that its easier to find relevant Forums.

  4. Improved Topic Display:
We're revamping how topics are displayed to you. You'll have the option to choose between a compact view and a card view. Additionally, you'll be able to see all topics within a specific category in one place. For example, the Star Plus category will show all the topics from the show forums within the Star Plus category.

  5. Profile Image Restrictions for New Users:
To enhance security and prevent misuse, we're introducing new measures to restrict the addition of profile images for multiple identity users (MIDs) unless they have reached the Groupbie ladder group.

  6. Enhanced Blocking Feature:
Our blocking feature is getting a powerful upgrade! This has been a highly requested feature, and we're excited to announce that we’ve found a possible solution. Now, when you block a member, their posts won’t just be hidden. Instead, you’ll see an overlay with a message indicating that the post is hidden because you’ve chosen to block the user, with the option to view it if you choose to by clicking the "View" button. Enjoy a more personalized and comfortable browsing experience. Please note, Non-Ladder Group members, which primarily include DT members and Admin, cannot be blocked. Enjoy a more personalized and comfortable browsing experience.

Stay tuned for these exciting changes and more updates as we continue to enhance your experience on India Forums. We appreciate your continued support and engagement.

Warm regards,

The India Forums Team

Hi Vijay,

I have a few questions on the second feature on the list — a cooling-off period after account deactivation.

How exactly do you plan to implement this? Will this feature delete all the user's posts from your database after the cooling-off period?

What about banned accounts with their posts still visible? Will their posts disappear too, or is this only for hibernated accounts?

And lastly, will this feature work on accounts already in hibernation before it's implemented, or just on those deactivated after it goes live?

Hi SmittenKitt3n,

Thank you for your questions and for your patience. Regarding the cooling-off period after account deactivation:

  • User Posts:
User Forum posts will get anonymised permanently after the cooling-off period. This aligns with the practices of other large forum sites. The integrity and value of discussions rely on retaining contributions, even if the original poster is no longer active.

  • Deletion of Other Data:
After the cooling-off period, we will delete data associated with the user, such as Scrapbook entries, Private Messages, Slambook entries, Testimonials, etc.

  • Banned Accounts:
Banning option is available only at the Newbie/Groupbie level. Above these levels, accounts are suspended rather than banned, and their content remains visible to maintain the flow of conversations.

  • Hibernated Accounts:
This feature will apply to accounts that hibernate after it goes live. However, we will send an email to all users who are currently in hibernation to inform them about the new rule, and their cooling-off period will start from the notification date.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Best regards,
