In Germany, it's also playing in theatres that usually don't show an Indian movie...but then, the film is distributed by Universal Pictures and also got good critics.

Dev Patel isn't an unknown among German movie-goers and not only people with respective roots will be interested in a movie that combines action, thrill and a critical view on corruption and discrimination in India.

It clearly is an Indian movie with Oscar-known Dev Patel as director, co-writer and co-producer and with a predominent Indian cast.

Netflix might regret to have sold the movie to Universal Pictures...

It's doing good numbers for a weekend release. Posted $10M for first day, will only increase from here on. But I don't Netflix particularly regrets. They have been toeing the line for the longest time with the Indian market, censoring things so it's passable here like in Oppenheimer, and bunch of other movies.

12M for domestic opening is a good number.

Great to see non-tokenistic representation of the Hijra community.

I feel we are not talking enough about how Shobitha has made her way into Hollywood with this obviously hit theatrical movie. Something *cough* *cough* no 1 star Alia bhatt Kapoor Streep *cough* *cough* couldn't do. Shobitha needs better PR.

Oh, I don't regret Netflix either smiley16

Dev Patel is a good actor and also often, I like the debut movie of a director as it is quite of pouring out something  v e r y  important to the director.

Wish such movies were allowed to release here unfiltered but at this point it feels like wishful thinking. In the past, a VPN connection has helped me watch quality stuff like The West Wing from Netflix abroad and I'm hoping it will help for Monkey Man as well once its up on a streaming platform.
