Part 39

Durdhara came to meet Chandra who was busy in contemplating about the war, she tapped his shoulders lovingly. He got shocked. He saw her and for the first time felt uneasy. Durdhara said what happened? He said ah nothing, was thinking about something, why are you here? There was a strange detachment in his voice. Durdhara hugged him. He hugged her back. She said I missed you. Nowadays you rarely spend time with me. Chandra felt a little awkward after his moments with Swarna. He broke the hug and said I missed you too. Durdhara lean forward and kissed him for the first time. He got absolutely shocked at this. He broke the kiss. Durdhara felt weird. She said what happened Chandra? Did I do something wrong? I am sorry, I thought we were close enough..he quickly said no it's nothing, I am actually too busy that's why stressed. Can we meet later? My head is hurting. She said don't worry, I will do your champi. Chandra thought it was fruitless, he knew he couldn't tell her the truth so he just now went along with it..she was doing his champi with oil..... Durdhara said what now? Feeling better? He sadly said, yes Durdhara I feel better now. She said great, I want to talk with you. Chandra made her sit with him, he faintly smiled and said what is it? She very happily said, Chandra will you marry me? Chandra got shocked. He got up quickly. He said marriage? She said yes, marriage. Swarna got married too and you guys did not tell me about this, I am very upset about this but let's leave it there, will you marry me? Chandra said Durdhara......I ....I don't know, she got shocked, she did not expect this answer. she thought he would be very happy hearing this but opposite happened. Durdhara said, is something wrong? Do you now don't want to marry me? You love someone else? Chandra said Durdhara, I won't be making this decision anymore. Even my marriage from now on will be arranged by Acharya. If you wanna ask, ask him..if he says yes, that's my yes as well. Durdhara was shocked at this, the guy who so wanted to marry her few days ago was now throwing this decision on Acharya. But she thought he said this because of War. Durdhara said I understand, there is a war coming and in all of this marriage is something which should not be in your mind. I will ask Acharya about this. Sorry to disturb you. She turned back and slowly went away. Chandra was in deep pain..He thought how can I bear lying to her, she is my best friend and my love. Lying to her is pricking my heart. I have never been untruthful to Durdhara or anyone of my friends. Acharya why did you involve me into this, he mourned.

He said poor swarna has foresaken all her rights and is behaving like she is my slave and my beloved is someone who wants to marry me but I cannot be honest with her. He started crying. Is my life from now on is gonna be like this? He later made himself calm and thought I must involve all my energy in my goal. I won't be thinking about love anymore. Let Durdhara and my relationship's fate be decided by gods. If they want us together, we will be together.

Durdhara went to Acharya. She bowed to him and sat in front of him. Durdhara was very shy but still got the courage and asked, Acharya can I ask you somewhere,? Acharya said what my child? She said Acharya I want to marry Chandra and I proposed him but he said he would marry after your approval. If you tell him to marry me he will marry me.....I know usually parents of a girl brings proposal not girl herself but Acharya I want to be bride of Chandra now.

Acharya smiled and said, my child, for now, I want you to leave Taxila and go back to Magadha. Durdhara got shocked.

Nandini was in her room reading a book when suddenly her mother came..she said really good news my dear.....Nandini said what mother? She said your friend Nayantara is here to meet you. Nandini got really happy. She said Nayantara? I am so.....happy....... Nayantara (princess of Asakya) entered the room.. Nandini went to hug her. She was extremely happy.

Bhadrashal had finally met Dhan Nanda, she said Samrat , there is great chaos going on in Taxila after Ambhiraj's death. There is terrible confusion. We must act and capture Taxila and Pauravdesha. The emperor was drinking wine and smelling a flower. He said I know Bhadrashal but my dear Suhasini does not want me to attack Pauravdesha. And let chaos be in Taxila, let these two janpads destroy each other as I have got the news of Malayketu betraying Kalyani. Bhadrashal thought, how can he such a womanizer that he is loosing this wonderful opportunity. Bhadrashal tried to convince him but all in vain, he left disheartened. As he was going outside he saw Nandini and Nayantara in garden. He was staring at Nandini and her whole body like a predator. He said aaahh....I wish this beautiful flower would be mine. He smelled a rose which he took from a nearby vase. Nandini, one day you will be mine while he rubbed that rose on his lips.

Part 40

Durdhara was shocked, she said what are you saying Acharya? He said that's right Durdhara, go back to Chandra's mother and uncle and do their seva. When the time come the fate will decide the course of your relationship. Durdhara said but Acharya, why? I promise I won't be a hindrance to Chandra. Acharya said my child, you are not hindrance to anyone but right now I am thinking about your safety, Chaya and you are not fighters and Yavanas are also heavily involved here, god forbid but if you are captured then it will be very hard for us to save you. So it's in better interest of everyone till Chandra is able to bring order you and chaya should be at some safe place and what's major safe place than your own home. Durdhara disheartened and said Okay Acharya, I understand, for greater good I will wait for Chandra now. Even if Mura Maa and uncle wants me to marry someone else I will still wait for Chandra. Chanakya said I really admire your pious and loyal nature Durdhara. Chanakya thinks, your qualities will honour you one day Durdhara. Also my child, you have a lot to learn because your foundation of future greatness is still weak, you need to solidify it more. Durdhara sadly left the room. She started crying and ran to her room. She threw herself on her bed. She said why God why? What did I do to you? Why could not we be a normal family? That way I would have married Chandra by now. Surely er wouldn't have riches but we would have been so happy together. (Durdhara and Chaya still didn't know Chandra didn't only will go be a king but uproot Dhan Nanda, something only Chanakya, Shashank, Akshaya and Swarna knew).

Secret wife and secret children. Acharya thinks with long term vision. But for Swarna, this is a bittersweet deal.

Chandra is stuck playing up for his destiny, even if it means doing things he may not like.

Chandra is now married to his first wife. Durdhara is next in line. Lets see if she gets to propose and what happens.

Durdhara is not yet to be Chandra's bride. For now she is to go back to the palace she left. What's Acharya's plan?

Part 41

Durdhara came to meet Chandra, he was busy with Akshay and Swarna when suddenly they saw her, Chandra hinted them to leave. Swarna before going back looked at Durdhara and Chandragupta, she felt sad and she left.

Durdhara looked depressed, Chandra asked what happened? Did Acharya deny your request? Durdhara said he not only denied Chandra he told me to leave Taxila for now. Chandra wasn't surprised, he said his decision is wise Durdhara, till I establish myself you need to stay protected. Durdhara sadly hugged him making him uncomfortable because his relationship with Swarna was making him guilty but he was getting used to this new role as he knew it was all for greater good. He hugged her back and kissed her head. He said my dear Durdhara, one day everything will be fine, I have trust in God. Durdhara said before I leave , I just.....she leaned forward and started kissing him, this time he did not hold back and kissed her... suddenly entered swarna and saw it...she was shocked.....and before they could see her she ran away... Durdhara and Chandra were embracing each other like it was their last day in this world. Swarna came outside crying heavily, she was crying really badly, she felt heartache. She says to herself, no Swarna, you must not. You have no right to feel sad. He is your king not only your husband. You are just here to serve him. You have given him city of Paursa and after we get Taxila he will be declared king of these two places. I .....I have willingly accepted this life, now I can't go back. And she wiped her tears.........

Chanakya was seeing this all from a far away place, he had tears in her eyes. He says ,I never thought a daughter of a Yavana could be so self sacrificing. My dear daughter, one day you will get your honour back. Don't worry....

Amatya Rakshas had a meeting with Dhan Nanda. He said , Maharaj, though I don't day Bhadrashal is a good man but he is a really smart warrior. He is right, Taxila is too chaotic, we must act soon..Nanda said but it will hurt my dear Suhasini. Rakshas says, Maharaj Suhasini is your Bhognya (concubine). She was forced upon you as a wife because it all came out in open....kings don't care for what concubines want..we must act soon or otherwise we will loose a huge opportunity.......Dhan Nanda said Okay, what is your yojana? Amatya slyly said , let us invite Bhadrashal tonight and discuss it..

It was night time......

Chandra was very tired. Next day war was supposed to happen.....He thought, Durdhara and Chaya have left for Magadha.....now I can go into this war without any tension...suddenly Swarna came into his room in her night clothes of red colour and her hair open. She was looking very gorgeous. He looked mesmerized. He said, do you want to seduce me tonight? Swarna said maybe. She came towards him and hugged him. She kissed his chest. She says tomorrow is our big day....let us have some fun before that. He laughed, he took her up in arms and they started cuddling on the bed.

So Durdhara is being sent away for her own protection. She will not go back to the palace but to Mura.

Nandini failed to get any reassurance from the Rishi. He just gave cryptic answers.

Swarna is feeling guilty for lying to Durdhara, but it must be done.

Durdhara goes away while Swarna stays. War is looming.
