Song: The Wrote & The Writ

Singer: Johnny Flynn

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SLdfzDnftY

You wrote me oh-so-many letters

And all of them seemed true

Promises look good on paper

Especially from you, from you

The weight of all those willing words

I carried all alone

You wouldn't put your pen to bed

When we hadn't found our own, our own

Your sentences rose high at night

And circled round my head

The circle's since been broken

Like the priest before me is breaking bread

Song: Open Book

Band: Cake

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUkLbsc6434

She's writing, she's writing

She's writing a novel

She's writing, she's weaving

Conceiving a plot

It quickens, it thickens

You can't put it down now

It takes you, it shakes you

It makes you lose your thought

But you're caught in your own glory

You are believing your own stories

Writing your own headlines

Ignoring your own deadlines

But now you've gotta write them all again

And this one’s on writer’s block

Song: I Typed for Miles

Band: Jets to Brazil

I can’t share the link of the song because the ending has swear words. But the music is good. I am sharing the lyrics here.

I live in a hotel, I must keep writing

If I'm to be better than everyone else

Like figure skating, like asphyxiating

On your own seeping fumes, you're just waiting

Living in a hotel, I'm not traveling

Between two points, in midair I'm levitating

Above the earth, beneath the sky, with eyes like static

In my three feet from bed to wall sleeps a genius

Leave me here to my devices
The call could come at any time

They're playing love songs on the radio tonight
I can't relate to that right now

Note to self, no one cares, your voice is average

In worried piles I typed for miles, you just stood there

I will begin, I will put right this morning terror

I have been kissed between the ears with human error

Leave me here to my devices

I need a word to change my life

I've tied my ankles to the table legs with wire

He can't write so much as type

Leave me here to my devices

I can't think with all this noise

They're playing love songs on your radio tonight

I don't get those songs on mine

Paperback Writer: The Beatles

Songwriters; Lennon/Mc Cartney

Dear Sir or Madam, will you read my book?

It took me years to write, will you take a look?

It's based on a novel by a man named Lear

And I need a job

So I wanna be a paperback writer

Paperback writer

This was the first proper Beatles song I had heard (before that I had heard Imagine by Lennon)

Plus this was written on top of our maths book at uni smiley36

This song is too special. Thanks for tagging smiley31

This song was on the first-ever Beatles mix tape I heard- the beginning of a life-long love affair with their music!

I always wondered why the name Lear? I thought it’s a some cleverly woven reference to Shakespeare’s King Lear at first. smiley36

I remember cackling over..

I can make it longer if you like the style

I can change it all but I wanna be a Paperback Writer! ...the desperation! smiley36

And

If you must return it, you can send it here

Reminds of Snoopy's innumerable rejections! smiley36

PS: Your Uni seems like a cool place! smiley16
