Controversial topics do grab attention. But will new people buy their products or get put off, is another question.

But the debate is, are these ads really controversial? Such ads were always there but now there is a section of population trying to provoke people and get "offended". As someone said on this thread, ifs a ploy to distract people from real problems country is facing

One of the biggest example of this in recent time was the hate against bollywood. Whether relevant or not, bollywood is not even close to the biggedt problems this country faces. But fake nationalism and communalism is an easy way for populists to distract people from real issues country is facing

There is a person called Sadguru . He must be having numerous followers . His ads making appearances on various online platforms. Courts have banned him from TV appearances few hours back…..it’s a correct decision by courts . 👍🏼

Ads should be for benefit of humans,  not to take advantage of their religious beliefs, to gain few moments of popularity.

Sadguru has many followers. His videos does have opposite title to grab attention. But the content is of his promotion only.

They have a marketing team, which works on such ideas. Aim is to grab attention.

Most of the people does'nt get provoked so easily. They do think over on what such adds are trying to convey in reality?

People are more vocal now. Hence more reactions, feelings, are coming out now compared to earlier times.

It is a 100% marketing gimmick. Eggs are not only used on Holi. People smash eggs on birthdays too. No one comes and says don't celebrate birthdays by smashing eggs on the birthday boy/girl. No brand tells that don't waste cakes by smashing them on the birthday person. Plus almost all eggs that the are used in Holi are near the expiry date, so they are going in waste with or without Holi. Shopkeepers actually ask if they want eggs for Holi or eating and then sell accordingly.

Coming to the second point, molesters enjoy anonymity and Holi just provides that. However, this has decreased over the years. 10 years ago, some people threw water balloons on trains, buses and pedestrians days before actual Holi. No such things now. I literally went to office on Holi. Nothing happened.

Good point. People waste lot of food at parties. That is never acknowledged. Festivals are for celebrations. People get irritated by lot of sermons. Sometimes its fine, but lot of times, all the brands bombard Hindu Festival greetings with sermons instead of normal wishing. Its like the message to send across is, your festivals are bad, stop celebrating. For example, people point out hooliganism during Holi, but how many New Year's greetings ads from Brands point the 'drinking and driving' or molestation that happens during the parties. Its because the people who make those ads, are busy celebrating themselves, they have no time to give sermons.

Naturally, its always going to be regarding marketing to be in the limelight, but I think they want to copy the Western style of promotion for sustainability.

When they try and incorporate this into traditional festivals in other countries, it can cause more sensitivity and make them look negative whether intended or not.

There is a huge pressure on industries by animal rights and the vegan society.

Sustainability has become a big thing and insustries are urged and sometimes enforced to encourage that.

The ad regarding domestic violence is not unreasonable and with all the movements that are happening around the world.

The industries definately are making a gain, those billboards spaces are not free, nor cheap.

I find these ads offensive

I would have been okay with it, if they guts to say and show these ads about other religions but they won't and at the end it is us who is intolerant and other shit.

They have proper ads for other religion festivals with no sarcasm and gyaan.

But saara gyaan and knowledge they need to do in Hindu festivals.

I actually like that people are seeing hypocrisy of these and calling out them.

Most importantly we are going against them peacefully,

I would have find it wrong if they did violence but just calling out on SM is nothing wrong and actually a great way to show disagreement rather than protests on road and other stuff.
