Quoted from kingkhan22 (posted in the thread about KJo's next movie - without SRK, btw.):
"Just mimus Kjo and Yrf films from Srk's career and you will practically left with ALL FLOPS and just one hit where he played a villain.
So even without any bias this is a fact that Kjo and yrf films are the only ones which gave Srk all that fame and craze, and what he delivered in those films were hamming or very mediocre acting at its best. ...
And again he was not that famous or popular BEFORE doing Kjo and yrf films which makes for almost 90% of the hit films in his filmography."
Well, let me looking at the facts (with a bias for REAL facts):
green: Looking at BOI as a source for giving the lables (which - for many - reflects the succes at the Hindi - with dubbed films also more or less Indian - Boxoffice):
https://www.boxofficeindia.com/actor.php?actorid=4
SRK had 24 Hit (and higher) movies (without semi-hits) from Deewana to Zero from which 14 he had done either with KJo or YRF...that makes 58% "of hit films in his filmography" (not "almost 90%").
For the black, I have done a little survey with the help of Wikipedia: (Deewana - Darr/ KHKN - DDLJ / RamJaane - DTPH / Duplicate - KKHH/ ). Till KKHH, he had done 3 movies with YRF.
BOI lists 62 movies from Deewana till Zero...minus 14 done with KJo/YRF, that makes 48 movies without KJo directing and YRF being the banner. BOI tells us that SRK had 16 flops (incl. disaster) which makes just one third of these 48 movies - in India!. So much to the "practically all flops and one hit".
For all those who are interested in other facts than the pink "without any bias" fact:
Deewana = "emerged as a major commercial success, becoming the second-highest-grossing film of the year"
RBGG = "The film emerged as a commercial success." RBGG "was released in Japan ... introduced [there] the commercial masala film style, which was well received by Japanese audiences, with the film becoming a commercial success in the country."
MayaMemsaab = "... won the National Film Award – Special Mention (Feature Film)"
KingUncle = "The film was box office success and has since gained cult status, being well received by families and children."
Baazigar = "Khan's breakthrough role as the sole lead. ... Apart from emerging as a major financial success, the film has become a cult film over years."
KHKN = "Produced on a budget of ₹14 million, the film grossed ₹55 million. ... It is widely considered to be one of Khan's best performances."
KaranArjun = "Super Blockbuster" - "the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of 1995"
RamJaane = "was released to a positive reception from audiences and was a commercial success."
EBDM = "It is the third highest-grossing film of 1996 worldwide. ... declared a "Flop" by Box Office India"
Chaahat = "Overseas, It is the 4th-highest-grossing film of 1996. ... was declared "Below Average" by Box Office India."
Koyla = "Critics praised the action sequences performed by Khan, and it emerged as the 8th most successful film of 1997 in India. ... The film shared the record for the highest opening day with the previous record opener Trimurti ... was declared an average grosser."
YesBoss = "proved to be one of the most successful films of the year, and was declared a super-hit." Overseas "it is the 3rd-highest-grossing film of 1997 behind Dil To Pagal Hai and Pardes."
Pardes = "praise for its soundtrack and Khan, Chaudhry, and Agnihotri's performances; ... emerging as a commercial success, and was the fourth highest-grossing Bollywood film of 1997."
Duplicate = "Overseas, it is the 3rd-highest-grossing Bollywood film of 1998 behind Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dil Se."
DilSe = "the film is an example of parallel cinema ... moderate success at the domestic box office; however it was a major success overseas...becoming the first Indian film to enter the top 10 in the United Kingdom box office charts,[6] and it was also a hit in Japan."
I did the same for the rest of the filmography (main films) ...if there is interest, I can post it.
Here, I just wanted to show a line of success that may have (from Darr on) a bit to do with YRF but nothing with KJo.
