THE BRIDE- a short story

Oh my God!!!!

The frantic screams of Mrs.Shamsher Singh upon seeing the face of her newly wedded daughter in law. 

Nehmat Sandhu!

Advait stood up at once in a huge shock . Couldn't believe his eyes 

The bride!

It was not Malika but Nehmat.

" Yeh sab kya hain", finally he struggled to speak.

Deep inside he was relieved somehow.

Thankfully , it was not Malika.

Why was he glad to see her best friend as his bride?? Something was amiss.

His messed up mind had tons of questions while waiting for her reply.

The guests looked on in astonishment.

Ekam was broken. His love deceived him.

The pain was too unbearable that he sank on the hard cold marble floor. How could she do this to me and my sister.??

Tears rolling down her cheeks as she faced humiliations one after the other from her family and the guests.

Advait spoke harshly defending his wife.

" Nehmat meri biwi hain. Mein uske khilaf aek shabad nehin sununga".

Naaz who was seated in a beautiful pink bridal attire and had just gotten married to Advait's brother at the same venue,  was shocked and disgusted to see her sister as the bride. 

Her jethani!

Oh no! She's gonna rule my life again!

After minutes of silence, finally she gathered some courage to speak in a shaky voice.

" Vo Malika ko aek modelling ka assignment mil geya last minute. Toh mujhey yahan bithaker geyi jabtak vo wapas nehin ajati".

 Everyone presented were taken aback except for the groom who still didn't understand his reaction that he was glad. 

Apparently, Malika left to attend an assignment requesting nehmat to take her place a while till she returned.

The brides were requested to cover their faces as according to Singh family traditions. So Malika took the opportunity little realising that she won't be able to make it on time for the wedding.

Just then a phone rang. Nehmat picked up at once.

" Nehmat, main thodi der pahunchrehi hun".

Malika 's anxious voice over the phone.

She replied nervously 

" Ab bahut der hogeyi malika, shadi ho geyi".

The line disconnected .

An hour later after the guests left and Malika was thrown out of the mansion.

He gulped two glasses of vodka trying to keep himself sober   "why was i happy?? That i got rid of Malika and married her bf instead.".

What is wrong with me ??

A knock on the door of his bedroom.

The upset brother approached to console his older sibling. Nikhil felt bad for the groom and hugged him tightly.

" Sorry bro. U have to go through this".

He knew he had to pretend 

" Why did Malika do this to me. I won't forgive her".

His inner voice taunted.

" Stop over reacting dude. U are just so happy. Accept it, u moron".

As they pulled away from the warm brotherly hug, he looked away towards the glass window of his room to hide his raging emotions of joy. 

" Main aab nehmat ko hie accept karlunga".

His inner self smirked.

" Ab aya uth pahad ke niche. Sala, tu usko pasand karta hain. Seeda seeda bolta nehin hain".

After reassuring his brother was fine, Nikhil left with a heavy heart swearing never to forgive Malika, little realising that his older bro was hiding in his bathroom enjoying the third glass of hard liquor thanking the twist of destiny that replaced

I had time today. So wrote a short one 

This was how they could have gotten nehmat advait marriage taking place instead of those ugly routes that they are taking right now with Nehmat 's dignity on stake . And humiliations on her way. 

Also the other twist.

After the bride swap, advait is glad he didn't get married to Malika realising he actually likes nehmat 🤣🤣🤣

But pretends he is sad🤣🤣🤣

Woww that was amazing 

Advait is such a meesna 😆 I tell you

Unfortunately nehmat is going to get bashed left right and centre in upcoming episodes and I feel so sorry for her 

She is just trying to help everyone but got herself in trouble 😵‍💫

P.s. can you please write a passionate os on nehvait whenever possible as we won't get to see their romance till their marriage I guess

Excellent writing Ani 👍, you have beautifully penned down all the events of the marriage.

Although I really don't wish Nehvait marriage goes this way,

Because this is the same thing which happened last year in Sirav marriage of ssk2,

However the who short story was very well written!
