I never heard/read about Prabhas being arrogant to audience or to the industry people. He’s humble, his colleagues call him “Darling “ pyar se😆

Were Bollywood stars always seen as arrogant, elitist, entitled and haughty or is it recent perception thanks to nepo kids like Harshvardhan, Alia, Ananya, Shanaya, Sonam, Sara etc?

Can someone tell me if BW was seen as arrogant lot during times of Khans, AB, Kaka, Dharam, Vinod etc?

Do videos of Jaya B getting angry, Rishi blasting media, Hema being angry or not knowing how to hold broom or Salman using fake accent to speak English or Saif's rant on eugenics have a role in BW getting image of arrogant lot?

Maybe not exactly humble, but surely well behaved. I don't think it's related but most of them complete their education before getting launched. Surya, star kid, has worked in a garments company before getting launched. He doesn't have to, but he did. Likewise his brother Karthi was a mechanical engineer, who worked and went on to do Masters in US( on scholarship) . Probably it was their back up plan, to have an alternate career choice. Unlike the BW star kids who are unaware of a world that exists beyond South Bombay. And the media here is brutal. I remember how Vijay, son of  a successful director was trolled for his looks when he was launched . And Surya was severely criticized for his dance and acting. They don't treat the actors with kiddie gloves just because they are star kids.

We cannot generalise just because they are celebrities. I have seen people who have achieved it all but are still as humble as when they started. Some celebs might be arrogant, some might not be. We can only form opinions based on whatever IVs, fan interactions we see of them, we don’t know them personally so 🤷‍♀️

The fan clubs are massive in the south.

I would not say the south stars are humble, more self aware. They understand that their behaviour can make or break them plus with the advent of social media and cell phones they are very aware.

They travel to the interiors of the states to act in very rural settings so the understanding is there.

Most of them have a plan b if their careers don't hit it off.

The writers and producers are very bright and they also Hire the best teams to show them grounded. Also they are very rooted in their language and culture (not talking of religion) .

Example irrespective of religious divides Malayalam stars celebrate onam and respect other religions. The Tamil stars stood as one during Jallikattu, The Kannada stars stood by the industry when the cauvery agitation happened. Tbh the Telugu stars are quite arrogant, have nepotism and clouts very like Bollywood but do a better job of not showing that side

Nawazuddin brought this up in an interview, he said in the Hindi film industry most Hindi scripts are in English and all the cast and crew speak in English, but in the south hardly English is spoken and all stars and crew interact in the same language which builds that connectivity.

Bollywood is bigger than KJO and his gang but they are the ones most on social media and pr and like Anurag Kashyap said, life starts and ends in South Bombay, London and NYC. Hell, they also say they do not watch Hindi movies and act in them. The command over the language, culture is missing.

Look at Neena Gupta's or Manoj Bajpai or BigB diction and dialogue delivery, the command over the language is amazing. That is what is missing, the connect with the mass audience that is the reason why Amitabh ruled he could connect to the masses, because of the characters and films he did and it showed in his command over the language and understanding nuances of playing a common man too

Very well put. Especially the point on language, awareness of culture, society, diction, voice modulation, body language and dressing etc and awareness of local issues and politics are spot on.

Today's actors know no Hindi like Amitabh did.

Nor do much research either. Aamir stayed with taporis in real life and observed taporis to do Rangeela and get rid of his limitations as a typical Bandra boy.

That level of dedication is missing in today's lot.

To be honest even their English is poor and not like Amitabh spoke. They use slang and chatspeak. Sound like wannabes and have poor vocabulary, think they are cool if they use innuendo.
