Pakistan is one of the biggest Muslim states in the world today. The country emerged out of the Indian sub-continent on the map of the world in 1947. The country has a majority of the Muslim population. Pakistan officially celebrates its independence on the 14th of August every year.
From 14th August 1947 to 14th August 2022, it has not been an easy journey. Still, with the development of education, sports, and entertainment, we have come a long way. Today the country stands on the horizon of the 75th year of independence. It all began from scratch in 1947 and wouldn't have reached this far without the efforts of the people who have devoted their lives completely to the betterment of the country.
The Mountbatten Plan carved the independence of India and Pakistan largely based on religious majority, with a Muslim majority in Pakistan and a Hindu majority in India. While East Pakistan became Bangladesh after gaining independence, West Pakistan is known simply as Pakistan today.
Both India’s Congress and the Muslim League welcomed Mountbatten’s plan. The great subcontinent of British India was partitioned into the two countries of India and Pakistan in 1947. Pakistan celebrates the day on August 14th, while India celebrates its independence on the 15th August.
The assembly of the celebration starts at 8:30 AM with the Army and Scouts March Past. At 9:30 AM the military people shoot 38 bullets as a salute to the national flag.
Do you know what the flag of Pakistan represents?
The green is for the majority of Muslims, the white represents the religious minorities, the crescent is for progress and the star is for the light. Overall, the flag represents respect for the minorities as well as the majority in Pakistan.
As this day holds great significance in the life of Pakistanis, they celebrate it by preparing special dishes and by elating the moment with their friends and family.
"We have undoubtedly achieved Pakistan, and that too without bloody war and practically peacefully, by moral and intellectual force, and with the power of the pen, which is no less mighty than that of the sword and so our righteous cause has triumphed. Are we now going to besmear and tarnish this greatest achievement for which there is no parallel in the history of the world? Pakistan is now a fait accompli and it can never be undone, besides, it was the only just, honorable, and practical solution to the most complex constitutional problem of this great subcontinent. Let us now plan to build and reconstruct and regenerate our great nation..."
-Mohammad Ali Jinnah
As the country faces political tensions, this is one day and celebration that reunites every Pakistani and is a moment to appreciate the work of Mohammad Ali Jinnah and his entire team. Together we stand strong to build a greater Pakistan for our future generations! Insha Allah!
