Newly married couples can register their marriage within one month of marriage. After that fine is charged for registering late. Since there are witness to the marriage rituals, the marriage cannot be denied.

Why do I get the feeling they are gonna take this route? Coz aside from Aditya's family, there was no outsider present at the wedding. Maybe to preserve the Singh family's reputation and prevent the embarassment of having a Dhabewaali as a DIL, the Singhs are gonna publicly announce SP as Adi's wife. And maybe Ginny will be introduced as a maid or something...
