This novel was one of the best novels by Umera Ahmed. It was actually adapted for a drama in the past. The director was Sakina Samo, the character of Umar Jahangir was played by Adnan Siddiqui while the character of Alizeezay was played by some girl who was not very famous or pretty. Sakina Samo's direction and execution were impressive, but the production value was pathetic. Adnan Siddiqui looked perfect for the role and acted fabulously too. However, the actress who played Alizeey was a misfit as in the novel, Alizeey was very young, innocent, and considerably younger than Umar.. I guess about eight years younger.. even though the actress acted well but due to miscasting the impact was lost..
In this new adaptation too, there seems to be the same problem. Even though there could be better choices for the role of Umar; yet, I guess, Osman can pull off it too as he was quite convincing in Ehd-e-Wafa in the serious phase of his life.. however, Mahira seems old for this role.. I can't imagine seeing Osman treating her like a younger cousin who he needs to take care of.. In Bin Roye, Humayon doing this for her was believable but Osman and Mahira seem to be of the same age.. also, Alizeey is from a broken home and lives with her grandparents.. seeing Mahira doing this role will be as if she's repeating her role in Hum Kahan Ke Sache They role..
As for Danish Nawaz, I don't know if he has done any such project in the past as the novel is very much political in nature, but let's see what will he offer..
