You have summarised what we all have been waiting for since Kanwad Yatra, actually since their marriage, and Shiva's dialogue, "Raavi naam hai iska." All of what was expected of these characters, that would made this a story to truly love for being relatable, for standing out from the cliches of a billionaire-hero-poor-girl cliches we constantly see.

Character growth is something that has been demanded constantly, repeatedly, yet the makers can't even be bothered with their own favourite characters. In fact, shockingly, those are the worst characters on the show.

All I felt while reading this was a feeling of missing out, a sense of what if these characters had progressed the way we expected them to, or even better.

Alas, it is never happening.

Realistically speaking, it's really hard to write good character growth. You really need to own your characters and think about what decision they will make at every single conjecture. For ITV writers, it doesn't help they are pressured into writing a script within short periods of time to meet the demands of the channel [It takes me nearly 4-5 hours to write 500 words, so I can only imagine the struggles these guys face].

But, at the same time, I don't think the Choubeys truly understand their own characters, and that's why so many characters have had their downfalls. They should've taken a notebook and written down all the core characteristics of their characters because the more and more I think about it, the character who said "Raavi naam hai iska" might be ashamed of the man he is today, suspecting his wife/degrading her character. This is the same guy who refused to hit Kamini because it was his sanskar not to hit another woman would never character assassinate his wife or throw away food onto the street.

The woman who delayed childbirth just so she could ensure the Pandya brothers had a happy/safe childhood would be distraught her character beat the very children she promised to protect. The woman who respected Gaumbi would never come to the point where even her own husband is scared of her.

And these little character inconsistencies can be said for everyone. The Choubeys have been writing for the sake of writing instead of writing because they are fully invested in the characters, and it shows. But it's hard to just replace them because most people are not interested in picking up another person's work since they don't know the characters as well as the original authors.

Wow❤️!! Not everyone has the capability of penning down their thoughts so beautifully!! And I loved everything you said about this show. And this post really made me to delve into what this show could have been💔

But the growth of characters in this show is just episodic because the writers are amnesiac so they can't remember how much the character has gone through and it would not make any sense for this character to again spiral into the same hollow of darkness.

Well here is my experience about how I started liking this show and then left it and then again became obsessed with it:

I'm not someone who is following the show from episode 1. But my mother is a avid ITV watcher and that's why I'm the kind of person who knows what's going on in every show. I did became regular viewer after the shaadi track but was soon detached from it during haveli track.

I know many fans sing praises of haveli times but for the life in me can't understand why!? Because I was something entirely different from the show! I hoped for some angsty conversation between shivi about how much they hate to be in this situation but will still move forward for their families. I wanted some monologues from both about how sorry they are for ruining each others life because they had to be in this love less marriage. And so much more but we all know conversation and shivi never go hand in hand. All I got was some girna padna and ek dusre ki aankhon me kho jaana...though the chemistry was undeniably but it wasn't what I was looking for in the show.

But still I tried to give the show atleast a month because I liked the plot of the Tamil version which I read in Wikipedia but nothing I wanted to see happened-

first of all, it was very off puting to focus so much how rishita is not able to adjust in the family. Because frankly someone else in the family has gone through so much more and their feelings were my priority.

Then the scene with deshit's pda and Raavi being humiliated. They bloody showed the same precap for a week! I was so excited for a face off between Shiva and rishita but there came the mahan bhabhi to save the day! And it was super frustrating!! At that point of time I even liked dhara and was far away from any social media platform about the show. Still it was really off putting

For the life in me I still can't understand why Shiva and Krish thought that Rishita will start respecting the family becoz of the bhoot drama?? This again shows the incompetent writting.

Then come the infamous danda kaand, I don't even need to voice my utter hate for that sequence. But the least I expected was for Raavi to intervene and save Shiva and Krish, which didn't happened, hell! We didn't even got a scene where Raavi tended to Shiva's wounds. Around this point of time I gave up watching this show on tv and only saw some passing glimpses because my mother was watching it or watched it on insta.

Rishita saving Pandyas from falling khandar and suddenly becoming a dhara bhakt was something that I still can't digest. It would have made sense if someone from pandya family had saved everyone including rishita which made her to have a change of heart about the pandya fam and then she starts trying to mix up with family.

This all hinted towards how disconnected the story writting was and thus by the khander kaand I completely left the show.

But then one day I saw this vm on insta, it was the scene when Shiva wanted to go out of his room but Raavi tries to stop him by coming in between him and the door and wanted to clear all the misunderstandings. She wanted him to forget about what he read in her dairy as it was her past but he said that he wants to cut that memory out from his brain but he just can't!! And leaves the room. That scene did it for me!! I got the angst I was so desperately searching during the haveli times. And though the conversation was in no way a heart to heart long conversation but still it was a beginning. It hinted towards how Shiva is affected from Raavi's first love because he himself started loving her. I know most people at that point of time were rooting for Shiva but I didn't watch all those episodes, all I watched was a scene where a girl who was forced into a marriage with a guy who hated her, all her happiness were snatched away from her in the most cruel way possible, still she was desperately trying to hold on whatever ramnent or hope of love and acceptance in her life.

After that scene I started watching the show again on hotstar from where I left earlier, obviously shivi scenes only! And then got hooked to the current episode during the kawand yatra scenes.

At first, like any other viewer I was just waiting for their confession because shows in ITV usually gets destroyed after confession as the writers don't know how to move forward after the confession. But then all the abuse Raavi went through started becoming personal to me. And in other shows when FL gets humiliate there are many people to support her unconditionally and at times she herself takes a stand for herself. But Raavi never dared to spoke anything against Suman during that time nor anyone else in the family supported her with much conviction.

This really frustrated me and after realising that my frustration is not going to end soon with the speed their story was moving. That's why I turned to fan fiction and after reading the shivi in ff's I was complete goner. Totally utterly addicted!!

But during the time Raavi is going through all that abuse in that house. I didn't realise that I am not waiting for their confession anymore. Because now only thing that I was intrested in was just a heart felt apology from the whole family to Raavi. Sure shivi scenes are still beautiful with great chemistry but only thing that I want from this show is respect for Raavi from the family and Shiva keeping her above everyone else. That's the only reason I'm still here. I don't know how her insults became so personal to me but respect for Raavi is the only thing I care about.

So I'm probably going to watch the show till the last episode because after almost 1 year of viewing this show, now I know that respect for Raavi is a big thing to ask for...I might never get it.

I won't say anything, because I've been there. When I was 13-16, I loved reading stories about "manly" and "hot" guys, and I totally couldn't see through the emotional trauma those MLs were inflicting on the FLs. But, now that I'm a little older, I just want a man who respects me regardless of how he looks, and at the same time, I want to protect others from starting an emotionally draining relationship.

Give it some time. Let them meet people, debate their opinions, succeed and get hurt in the process. Life is all about growth and the willingness to change. Yes, it is somewhat annoying how they shoot down our opinions by tagging us as "Aunties." But, I guarantee you, one day, they will go through the same lessons we have gone through, and they will meet us at a middle ground.

Bold: Ditto. As I grew older, common sense prevailed and I realised that what I was reading wasn't right with what I am used to seeing around me. And fortunately, touchwood, the men in my life, from my father to all my uncles (by blood & otherwise), have set such high standards that I know my expectations are well beyond what some people consider normal. And these people taught me to not settle, to not given in to the sort of blatant patriarchy that these fans seem to find acceptable in Shiva.

Hopefully, these fangirls learn their lesson well before.

Shiva and Kaandyas were doing Ykb when Raavi was trafficked

Har baar jab Raavi aati hain tab he kyu Dhara ko gayab hona hota hain ?

&

Raavi Shiva ko tab he dikhayi degi jab aur koyi nahi hoga, even Rishita bhi nahi hogi tab Shiva ko yaad rahega that there is a person who is Raavi.

Aaya bada party per comment karne wala, apni family ko Raavi ko gaali dene se roka when she got missing ?

Oo wait woh khud sabse aage tha.

Did he stopped his family from doing ykb or stopped them from being happy when Raavi was missing ?

No bcoz dusro ke khushi aur gam ke hisab se chalna sirf Raavi ko hain and agar nahi kiya toh mahaan Shiva ke liye Raavi becomes worst jisko iski family ki kadar nahi hain bhale yeh aur iski family Raavi ko ek insaan tak na samjhe.

Even Rishita had a party when she got her first job. All of them happily participated and that was the time right after Raavi returned and the divorce was filed, Did they stop partying because Shiva - Raavi are going to separate? Suman, Dhara, everyone partied, even joined them because it was Rishita’s big day. Suman even announced a new girl she has selected for Shiva, Rashmi was also going to come to the party.

But what do we get with Raavi, food phenkna on the street and her humiliation by Shiva and God knows who are all going to shout at her😕
