Hi Ladies and Gents. Been an Iqbal Khan fan since ages. Have been watching the show since day one. The FL and her character hasn't impressed me much but IK looks kick ass. Hoping for best

It's a modern day adaptation of Bhishma's tale in the Mahabharata -

Devrath (the son of Ganga, the heir to the Kuru kingdom at Hastinapur, who put his father's happiness above his own life, and thus got the boon of iccha mrityu = he's got the ability to choose the time and place of his own death),

Amba

The Kashi Princess who vowed revenge to destroy him since he kinda implicitly forced her and her 2 sisters to marry his step brother. He captures the princesses during their swayamvar and brings them to his kingdom in his chariot, so he's technically bound to marry them. But he did this out of blindly following his "duty", and said that he won the princesses for his impotent step-brother. Amba alone refused, went back to her lover Maharaj Shalva, now got rejected by her lover, and then asked Devrath to marry her which he adamantly refused due to his "duty" and his vow - so they're sort-of exes 😆 She finally does penance and gets a boon from Lord Shiva to take rebirth as the transgender Shikhandi, who's Draupadi's sibling, and she now helps to kill Bhishma in the Mahabharata war.

and the supposedly good step-mom Satyavati (Bhishma takes the ultimate sacrificial oath of never marrying for the sake of his father, step-mom and their kids, ensuring that the Kuru throne will only go to his step mom's children and their descendants).

Nice to see Devrath finding companionship at least in this version!

That's so greatly explain. Even i have read a book about amba how she took her revenge in later life.
