basically Big B is that family elder who has to be invited first for every function with due respect and his blessings taken and only then rest should follow
if that doesnt happen they will sulk, nag and crib like anything
most families know this so they do this ritual first and then do whatever they want
kjo and co forgot this in their hubris and self importance and big b wont let them live it down for years to come
also pre gangu, she wanted block buster like Baahubali in her kitty but post gangu, small role is not what she wants
but professional actors will continue their work irrespective of what their position is currently and not show it
so many times outdated movies release like shahrukh, salman and madhuri's hum tumhare hain sanam after srk became huge
also i am not sure alia's current strategy is great, gangu type roles come once in few years, you have to star opposite male actors in limited roles (that is the way the industry is), except kjo nobody is going to give her roles at the expense of the male actors and she will find limited takers because of this, she is already not a fit for glamorous roles anyway
Edited by vcs17 - 1 years agoYou are right. She didn’t fit in at all. She got a good 20 minute role plus that end credits song but failed to make any impact at all.She was so good in Gangu that I was shocked to see such a bland performance in RRR, didn’t expect her to be so bad.
That’s because she’s very limited in what she can do.
Gangu was crafted in such a way that it hides her many flaws. It was a very one-tone performance. Not to mention the inflated box office figures.
Tell Alia to do a Mary Kom, Priyanka in Barfi, or something like a Cocktail, Tanu Weds Manu, Queen or even a Mimi - and she will falter and fall flat.
