BW is a mess right now. And the worst part is they are not willing to accept it. They want to live in their bubble and that's going to be their downfall.

In KWK karan openly says he doesn't care about the nepo trolling now, it's become his brand/image whatever. And that thinking right there is what's taking everyone down. These starkids and kjo type people are taking the audience for granted. Alia, Jhanvi, kjo openly laughing at audience and acting all high mighty is the problem. You cant make fun of the people that have brought you to where you are right now.

I just found out that apparently this big fashion stylist is also ayan mukherji cousin. Ayan who himself is a nepo product. So basically sab bhai, behen, father, godfather, cousins mil ke movies bana rahe hai. And not giving a shit if the person is talented or even capable. Karan Malhotra has given a dud like brother but he still got a high budget movie to director. Tell me if a outsider director would've been given that chance.

Alia and rk have zero chemistry onscreen but did the makers care!? Was a screen test even done for them, I doubt it. They were industry faves so they were casted. RK has many times proven he isn't capable of doing larger then life roles but he still gets back to back big roles even after huge duds. While the industry people are ready with pitch forks to bring down the people they dislike.

BW isnt going to bounce back unless they stop playing favourites and actually make movies with people that are capable/creative/smart. Plus them trying to urbanize/be woke isn't going to work for every movie. They're trying(failing) to be progressive but people will always choose ott emotional drama over bland logic. The half baked "progressive" ideas won't work if it doesn't have a strong emotional foundation. You need strong writers for that to work and it doesn't look like BW has good writers.

Time for them to really think about what they are doing and start reinventing themselves and for love of God stop hiring people just because they are your friends or relatives.

Whereas for Bollywood, they can't even pull their own audience.

Look, I've started to tailor my expectations depending on which movie industry. If I want a film experience, I go to Marathi or Malayalam. If I want an illogical action movie, I go to Telugu. I like Bollywood for what it is. But they need to actually tell me a story. Bollywood has forgotten that basic part of the business. The writing.

Kuch Malyalam movies suggest karna please

Need to respect writers. Then only competent writers will step in.

In South even though there are many big production houses movies always are marketed as the works of so and techinician/writer/director so on and so forth.

In BW the technicians are not allowed to come up or given enough credit for the work they have put in.

In South every successful director has his own stamp on the films he makes whether it is in Tamil Telugu or Malayalam.

In Telugu most of the current set of directors write their own stories and production houses only keep track of the costs. However big the production house is the technical team is well promoted unlike in BW.

Bottomline is respect the technical team .

Firstly bollywood films stopped being genuine and entertaining …There were such rousing and exciting films being made at one point (3 idiots, Lagaan. Swades, HAHK, Rangeela, Satya heck even k3g and kaho naa pyaar hai etc)…they had fantastic original music and a genuine core emotion …they were rooted films …u were engaged throughout the film …

Now , they have become dull, flashy and empty with little to no depth in story telling …in an attempt to achieve “nuance” and “layers” they now make trash that is neither entertaining nor makes any grand revelations …(cough gehraaiyan, cough haseen dilruba etc etc ) …characters are flaky and hard to root for or even care abt …ppl don’t commit to their story telling…they are too busy being politically correct and elite…

We grew up on comedy gold like andaaz apna apna and hera pheri…now the closest thing to comedy we have is bhool bhulaiyaa 2 and Manish Paul coming in and out of Jugg jugg jeeyo with “Munda” playing in the background …that alone shows how far the standards have fallen

filmfare awards used to be something my entire family used to sit n watch excitedly ….now with those fake reactions, manufactured set pieces , stupid dances, I haven’t watched an award show in more than a decade …

Problem is …

No one tells stories anymore …or wants to entertain …they just show off and promote and just want to succeed …that’s it…

Oh also this whole paid perception building has to stop

It gets so obvious and fake ppl can see right through it

Flooding Twitter with tweets about how a film is a “blockbuster”, asking actors to “take a bow”, calling them “bonifide superstar” …and having nothing to back any of these claims

What kjo does on kwk with aalia and how he tries to ghusao her in every episode …”so sam u beat aliaa how does that feel”, “which wedding was better alia or deepika..”…apparently he invited rajamouli and slb for an episode …anyone can bet there will be a 15 min discussion on “so u two directed a bonefide superstar like aliaa…how does it feel to have ur vision come alive with an actor like her “

like can we have the good old days where we went crazy abt stars and they didn’t go crazy abt themselves to make us feel like we should also go crazy abt them…yeh no

We can add inflated actor salaries to the list. With a lot of the pie going to the (mainly) male actors, I'm sure the writer's salaries take a hit

r/BollyBlindsNGossip - When the male lead takes more than half the budget of production cost as his fee, how will a film ever look well made? What is left for good VFX,sets, costumes? Even the number of shoot days will be reduced. Do you think it’s fair to pay anyone this kind of money when it …

There have been no major commercial box office blockbusters. But there have been plenty of good movies.

For people who care for blockbuster cinema, Bollywood is either done or needs to bounce back. For people who enjoy good movies no matter what the scale - everything is fine.

i feel like BW is so unpredictable today that the writers, actors, directors and production houses should experiment with whatever excites them instead trying to create a formula and follow it. We might just get a complete overhaul and hopefully riddance from the Kjo's pushed narrative.
