Hello authors,

In accordance with the new rules, we would like to draw your attention to the new age ratings. You can check the rules here

Here is the gist for your easy and quick understanding.

  • (G): General Audiences, content that is accessible to all members as well as non-members. Unrestricted Public Exhibition means anyone can read it. The theme of the fiction should be family-friendly and should not contain long violence or nudity or any mature theme that calls for a specific age requirement of the ratings mentioned below.
  • (M): Mature Audiences, content accessible to members who are 13+. Children under 12 years of age are advised to read the fiction with their parents or any legal adult who are 18+. It shall include Trigger Warnings to the extent of very Mild or Just Mention of Death-of-a-Character/ medical-illness/ mental-health-issue/ murder/ kidnapping/ bullying/ eating-disorders/ trauma/ abuse/ miscarriage etc. (eg. Harry Potter series, twilight saga)
  • (R): Restricted, contents that are Accessible to members who are 17+ of age are advised to read the fiction with their parents or any legal adult. These fictions can contain violent action scenes with some sexual scenarios except nudity and description of genitalia. Trigger Warnings to the extent of Mild to Moderate Death-of-a-Character/ medical-illness/ mental-health-issue/ murder/kidnapping/ bullying/eating-disorders/ trauma/ abuse/ miscarriage etc shall fall under this rating. (eg. Fault in our stars, Hobbit)
  • (X) Only readers/members who are 21+ can read it. Stories with strong/Explicit scenes, complete nudity, extreme violence, or abusive language shall fall under this rating. Stories to the extent of extreme *trigger warnings shall be posted under this rating. Trigger Warnings like suicide-ideation/ self-harm/ drug-usage/ trafficking/rape/ molestation/ prostitution/ domestic-violence/child-abuse-or-neglect etc shall fall under this rating.

If any of your stories has content that matches the description for the 21+ rating, we request you to migrate your story to the FF section. You can find the steps for migration here, or you can contact the FFEs (listed below) for any help. You can request a book cover Here or upload one of your choice, and comment migration can be done here. Also, you have to use the rating feature to ensure that you have correctly marked the story.

Even though a story is rated accordingly, if it violates any rules or is reported, action will be taken depending on the violation.

We hope you will do the needful soon.

This is a message that has been posted across various forums around IF, and we would appreciate it if you could help us spread the word.

If you have any further questions, you can contact the FFEs: Koeli_Appy/Appy| Viswasruti/Madhuri| oye_nakhrewaali/Shibani.

Thank you.

Hi, so what about very old fanfictions like 5-6 years old. It will be too difficult to dig out the threads even from my post option.

And it's not like anyone will dig it out and read them now?

Kindly guide.

Thanks 😊

Migrating forums to the FF section is easy and finding old thread is barely an inconvenience because once you pick your forum, all the threads you opened, irrespective of whether they are open or close, are listed out for you.

Any help, you can always approach the FFEs🙃

No but my point is, who is even reading them? They've been buried in the forum.

Also, say it belongs to some other member who is not even active on IF anymore what about those FFs?

Also came across some weird threads (fanfictions on real ship) in another forum back in 2019, very disturbing what about those?

@first para, chances are people are out there, still search for fda on those ships.

@second para, if they get reported by any user, FFEs will try to get to them or we'll figure something out

@third para, such stories are actually against OF COC rules and should be trashed🙃

Yes i know that now, didn't know it back then, so they exist until someone reports them?

But then whoever stumbles across them accidentally, wouldn't know that either like i didn't, so chances are they will never be trashed and keep existing.

We don't have the manpower to go through so many stories, so unfortunately yes, or unless vijay and the admin team figures something out.

Also, IF COC rules should be known by any IF user.

Any help needed with migration/book cover, the FFDT team around is around to help, else you can contact the forum mods.

Thank you.

I agree that COC should be known by all, but it's like the T&C of the apps we download no? Who really reads them? Unless they encounter a problem and need them.

Also, DT is not wrong in assuming that members have read and understood the COC, i was merely bringing this to your attention because i remember running across this.

If you come across such threads please inform any of the ffes, they will take care of it. Similarly, whoever comes across such threads can report.
coming yo reading rules, well, when you are in a system, we assume people will read if they encounter any issues. Also, IF is an user friendly site where mods are always available and they are easily trackable.
