of course. Am just glad to make it anywhere in the list. I started with no expectations and after listening to others, am smart enough to continue having no expectations. πŸ˜†Even reverb messing things up has been a boon- it forced me to listen to myself critically more than I would have otherwise. πŸ˜†

First of all, great selection of songs you've chosen, you've got good taste in music. πŸ‘πŸΌ Your voice suits the old Hindi songs perfectly, you've got a good range, you can sing quite high without going falsetto, and you sang really well.

The only thing I noticed was that in some of the songs, especially near the start, the timing is slightly off, but then you rectify it as you're singing along. That usually happens to me when I'm unfamiliar with a song, or the lyrics on the screen are not in sync with the music, which is why I don't pay much attention to the rolling on the screen anymore.

Thanks for sharing Birdie, and you mentioned that you're learning Arijit songs, I can't wait to hear those too. Btw, whenever I go to listen to your entry in the singing competition, you've already deleted the clip πŸ˜† please keep it longer, or tag me, cause the bloody thread is hard to find. πŸ˜†

i think Arijit's songs might be very famous now but they aren't seared into the audience consciousness as some of the old songs are. With old songs, while one can ride on their longevity and popularity, the flaws will also be more easily discernible. So in some sense they are harder to sing and get right. Am therefore thinking the Arijit songs might be something worth trying, although I am guessing those too will not be easy when I get down to them.πŸ˜†

i was enjoying myself. Getting in front of the audience is like falling in love.πŸ˜† I started with one group a couple of years ago, and have joined another one too, it's been that much fun. These days, with all the technology and tracks available online, it's also so much easier to put together events. Back in college, we had to gather our band each time we wanted to play... the logistics were harder and the sessions were infrequent.

doubt if I still have notes about khamoshi but i'll see. I just remember that my mom's interpretation was a lot different than mine. I think her insights helped me maintain straight As, else I might have dropped a grade because of that course. Never got back and told her but will now that I am reminded. I think we take things for granted.

thanks for listening and appreciating what I had.

@B&U: I was about to mention about the music being too loud there in Wo shaam but didn't as I'm not an expert or have very limited knowledge of actual LIVE singing πŸ˜… But good you mentioned it, and hopefully I'm gonna get to hear it one more time in your beautiful voice. And as Heisen told you and rightly so your voice suits certainly well to all these old soulful songs, your voice falls pleasantly on ears, soothing kinds. Good you make time for your passion else people just survive, they have forgotten to live :)

And yes, about Freud..I don't want the actual notes ..just wanted to know your deductions and interpretations. Psychology amuses me in all its forms ..come what may. :)

And Birdie, have you ever tried singing English songs? If yes, please share. πŸ€—

Definitely, what those old composers and singers created in the past, is just another level of genius altogether. Like, to think even after 50-60 years, people today remake/recreate/sing and play these songs, is just something else. As you know, singing old songs is much more fun, they are strong in melody and arrangement style, and in most karaoke sessions and antakshris, it is usually the old songs that are sung.

Arijit sings quite high, so most of his songs are out of my range πŸ˜† unless I sing them at a different scale.

Thanks for the link, I loved your entry, here we can hear your voice much clearer, and I didn't hear you go off sur at any point, you should get good marks for this. πŸ˜†

are you talking about the medley that starts off with Kora Kagaz? I loved that one too, it's probably my favorite entry of his so far. Clearly Dr. Evil beat us all to it though, what with that shayari the other week. πŸ˜† How the heck that guy manages to hunt every nook and corner of the forum before everyone else, your guess is as good as mine.

I think each of these songs has a unique challenge for someone like me. Mere sapnon ki rani imo probably has the smallest range but it goes very fast so one needs to make quick transitions. The other songs have a lot more range and go quite high though it may not seem like that- depends on how low one can start without the whole thing sounding off pitch. The most difficult part was getting the right feel and that involved a lot of tiny things that one has to do right that I keep learning and have a lot more work ahead. Hindi songs also require a lot more clarity in terms of enunciation than the english numbers, and that is something too where one needs to make a transition. Listening to them again very critically... I think I might be able to improve on them next time.

Again, many thanks for listening... and for the feedback. Am so happy that you liked it!!!😳

@bold: yeah, it sounds effortless cuz your voice is pretty deep to start off with. you weren't kidding when you said "rich baritone." πŸ˜† thanks and wish you all the best for the rest of that singing contest too.
