Good morning and welcome to the Pallekele International Cricket Ground which will be our venue for the first One Day International between Sri Lanka and India. The visitors clinched the T20I series by 2-1 last month, with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur notching up another Player of the Series accolade. Now, it is time to switch to the longer white ball format, where a few big names like Jemimah Rodrigues and Harleen Deol are back in the fray for the Indian eves. It is a sunny morning in Pallekele and is expected to be that way throughout. These games are part of the Women’s ICC Championship, so both sides wouldn’t want to part away with precious points leading up to the next World Cup.

A 'new' era for India, and much of the same for Sri Lanka. Harmanpreet Kaur leads an Indian side who take the field in an ODI for the first time since Mithali Raj retired. Jhulan Goswami's absence also means this is very much a team with one eye on the future. There are plenty of questions for a much-changed Indian side, as they play their first ODI since the heart-break of the World Cup earlier this year.

The hosts meanwhile, remain as dependent on Chamari Athapaththu's magic as ever. And why not, when she can deliver as well as she did in the last T20I, where her 48-ball 80* inspired Sri Lanka to their first T20I win over India at home. The series might have been lost 2-1, but the final performance came with plenty of positives.

Latest Pitch Report: This was the same track that was used for the Sri Lanka Australia T20 series. Looks dry with no grass on it, the spinners will play a big role today. Fast bowlers will have to rely on variations on pace. No brainer that the team winning the toss should bat first.
