A/N:

This is a drabble (maybe series, depending on whether we have the time) brought to you by myself and @Anon21, because we have a different kind of love and adoration for baby ShiVi and their friendship of the past.

So these are basically small snippets of parallel scenes of their childhood with current scenes that we are served with, sprinkled with a little twist of our own. Hope you like it!

.✧• Drabble 1 •✧.

[Scene inspiration: Raavi insecurity scene - "Le deke kuch acchi cheezein hai meri zindagi mein, itne marr marr ke paas aaye hai."]

--------------------------------‏ههههه----------------------------------

12 year old Shiva got on his bicycle, not finding her in her usual spot, cycling around the streets of Somnath in hopes of finding a certain chipkali. She hadn't talked to him in so long!

Well, 2 days is long, right?

Especially if it was that blabbermouth chokri who would talk to him about everything and anything under the sun, irrespective of whether he was interested or not. It irked him to the point of restlessness and anger.

Which was the whole reason of his latest mission of finding Raavi.

Unable to find his best friend, he decided to seek the last refuge.....his Mami's house. It boiled his blood to even think of that vile woman. He disliked that mami, and the feelings were mutual. Seeing the front door open, he tiptoed inside, like a stealthy ninja. Luck was in his favour, and he thanked Bholenaath and every god above, because mami wasn't at home.

Shiva walked across the aangan, and finally found the bane of his existence.

Chipkali. Or like weird humans called her, Raavi.

She was too immersed in her work to even make note of his presence, so he utilised it to observe her keenly.

Her jacket was tied around her waist, as she sat down on the floor in the middle of the aangan, scribbling away with some pens and crayons in the notebook before her, eyes anywhere but on the book, lost in thought. She seemed to grow up every day, right before his eyes, but Shiva shook his head.

He whistled to draw her attention, and it worked..... Just not in his favour. Raavi looked up, narrowed her eyes at him, and curtly replied "Chala jaa yaha se, bhoothnath. Mujhe pareshaan karne ka sochna bhi mat."

But Shiva was bull-headed, so he sat down beside her, grabbing some pens and crayons to sketch in the page next to hers, yet she wouldn't talk to him. Deciding to break the ice, he started talking, just like she would to eat his head, "Pata hai, mai na, biceps banaaunga. Dev bolta hai, ki kapde nichodne se biceps ekdum raapchik bante hai, isliye mai roz maa ko kapde sukhane mein help karta hu-"

"Dev nalla hai." Raavi declared, in a no-nonsense tone, annoyed, grabbing her book away from Shiva's reach. "Tu pehle mujhse lamba ho jaa, phir biceps ki baat karenge."

Taking this as his cue, he asked her, "Tu mujhse naaraz hai kya, Chipkali?"

Instantly, Raavi threw her book the ground and stood up, her hands on her waist, a scowl on her face. "Uss din tu tiffin break mein, mujhe ditch karke woh Disha ke saath khelne kyu chala gaya?"

Towering over him, her usually soft doe-like eyes now filled with anger, boring holes into his head like a fire breathing dragon.

Albeit, a cute fire breathing dragon.

Shiva shook his head at that shocking passing thought, composing himself and standing up next to her, "Gadhedi, tune hi toh kaha tha, tujhe ye bhaag daud waale games nahi khelne, toh mai chala gaya!" He shrugged his shoulders, because she had shoo-ed him away that day.

"Ab mai badi ho gayi hu, Shiva. Tere jaise bandar waale harkatein nahi kar sakti." Raavi frowned, crossing her arms across her chest, to show him that she was in fact, very angry at him.

Shiva remembered overhearing a conversation between Gaumbi and Dev about girls, periods and how they needed extra care and attention during that time. He put 2 and 2 together, realising she must have been having one of those days, where she felt like ripping everyone's hair off their head.

He gently touched his pinkie with hers, entwining them momentarily, "Tu ab theek hai na?"

Raavi looked deeply into his midnight black eyes, softening at his gesture. He understood her even without her having to spell out the exact words. She knew that he knew why she was annoyed with him that day.

She gave a small smile and nodded her head. The sparkle returning to her eyes, she proceeded with her Somnath famous nautanki and added on with a poutey face, "Tujhe maafi chahiye, toh mujhe 5 free chocolates chahiye. Aur promise kar ki tu mujhe kabhi bhi ignore nahi karega. Kabhi nahi!"

His fiesty chipkali was back, Shiva thought, as he caved into her demands. She was the only one who's demands he'd cave for, because she was an annoying chipkali who never stopped chipkoing to him.

"Chal thik hai, Papa se bolke tere liye dilwa dunga chocolates. Papa ki favourite toh tu waise bhi hai." He said grumpily, not liking that his father gave this chipkali so much attention. And why? Because she was a laadli, dulhari ladki, no, CHIPKALI.

"Aur sun, ye kaddu jaisi shakal mat bana ab." Shiva nudged her cheeks, and she swatted his hand away, as he threw another arm around her shoulder. "Disha ya kisi aur ke saath kitna bhi maidaan mei khel lu, meri best friend toh tu hi rahegi. Humesha! Ek baar biceps aane de, sabse pehle tujhe hi uthaaunga!"

And the angan reverberated with the giggles of these two youngsters, as always. But unbeknownst to them fortune had saved some of the toughest tests for this pair of best friends.

.......

Shiva put the stick aside, clearly seeing that his attempts to draw a reaction out of her had failed, holding her arms and gently pulling her closer.

He had been observing her from the moment he entered the house, and she had tension written all over her face. How did he know? Of course he would know. He has known his chipkali wife for many years now, he can read every expression on her face, and she looked like she was thinking hard about something.

As if someone had told her something, that made her mood sour.

So when he tried to get her attention, all she did was shoo him away, and asked him to stay away from her. Which did not sit well with him. She was his chipkali, it was her job to stick to him, no matter how annoying he thought it was.

"Tu mujhse baat kyu nahi kar rahi hai? Kuch kiya kya maine?" Shiva asked, looking into her doe-like hazel orbs.

"Tune kuch nahi kiya, bas door reh mujhse." Raavi struggled weakly in his arms, a second away from confessing all her fears to him. It wasn't his fault, he wasn't the cause of any of her fears, but those nosy aunties and their talks had just settled in her mind, refusing to go away.

"Dekh chipkali," Shiva said softly, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ears, "Le deke kuch acchi cheezein hai mere zindagi mein, aur unme se ek tu hai, jo humesha constant rahi hai. Chahe jo hua ho, tu humesha rahi hai mere saath, mere paas. Bhale hi kitna bhi logo ne jungli, gawar, pata nahi kya kya bola ho. Aur ab, tu bhi mujhse baat nahi karegi?"

Raavi looked into his midnight black eyes, her hands resting on his shoulders. For the world, he may be a gunda, but only his chipkali new how shy he was. No matter how gruff the world called him, only she knew how soft he was. A softness that was for her eyes only, known in the tiny gestures he did; helping her with her saree, adorning her with flowers, tucking her hair behind her ears, entwining their fingers.

Her eyes moistened, from the zooming emotions in her heart, and the love that she had for her husband, reciprocated ever so fondly by her bhoothnath, her best friend.

"Aur ye kya, 'door reh, door reh'  kar rahi hai kabse! Itne marr marr ke toh paas aaye hai," Shiva cupped her face gently, dabbing her tears at the brink of her eyelashes away with the pad of his thumb, resolving to ask her later about what was bothering her, "Thoda tere paas chain se mujhe bhi rehne de."

Raavi looks on, keeping her hands on his biceps, as Shiva reaches for her hands, momentarily entwining their pinkies, before smirking and carrying her in his arms, causing her to yelp.

"Dekh, kuch bhi ho jaaye, mai toh tera peecha kabhi nahi chodunga, laut ke tere paas hi aana hai! Kaha tha na, biceps banane ke baad sabse pehle tujhe utha aunga. Ab toh meri height bhi badh gayi hai, aur biceps bhi. Chal, phoolkumari, tujhe thoda hasata hoon. Jab dekho roti rehti hai."

Once again, the aangan reverberated with giggles and laughter, but this time of bhoothnath and chipkali, now husband and wife, as if written in destiny, carved in stone.

This was just adorable. ❤️

I loved the parallels. The past and the present. The young and the old. The concern, same yet different. An innocent friendship then to the deep love today.

The whole thing was just so sweet to read.

Thanks for tagging me. 😳

P.s. Would love to read more of it. Looking forward to it. ❤️
