Silsila…why does Amit have to marry jaya if he’s in love with someone else ? Just coz Jaya is pregnant and unwed and her fiancé is dead? I know it was the 70s but worst case they could have told everyone Jaya and shashi were secretly married or some shit and empower her to work and raise the child ..and find love again

No….make unnecessary tyaag and “apun bhagwan hai I have to fix everything complex”…ditch ur lover and marry ur almost bhabhi….then stifle ur wife and go after ur lover again and ruin ur marriage and hers too ….talk abt bad decisions 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Also mujhse dosti karoge …no rani ..just coz Tina lost her father dosent mean she’s desperately looking to cling on another man for support …yes it might be insensitive to tell her the truth when she’s grieving her dad but maybe a bit later , tell her the truth and move on in life

But pooja wants to do tyaag coz she’s too chicken to tell Tina the truth (a mess pooja created btw coz she’s too mahaan to take credit for the emails) …and she then emotionally blackmails poor raj to marry Tina (again..apun bhagwan hai I want to sudharofy her bechari life) …like wtf the dude has his choice …and his consent is important too ….

There’s also a scene in yaadein where hrithik , Jackie and that monishka girl are at a table and Jackie is asking her personal questions like will u have kids after marriage , will u leave everything and go live in their house after marriage

First of all, anyone would be pissed being asked these things by a random uncle ….not her husband/fiance, his random uncle …

The girl says “I’ve clarified everything with ronit, I don’t want kids for a few years and I want us to live independently away from the parents…and I’m not answerable to u “

And Jackie legit uses this to get the marriage called off coz she has no sanskar 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️😂

It was regressive on the note that bride was forces into marriage n she even slit her wrist still she was made to go through the process.

Her parents didn't even cared that she can attempt suicide again n it was pure torture to their daughter.

So as per the parents their daughter have to sleep with the man they like n not the man who their daughter likes.

Couldn't agree more. BW has always loved these"tyag ki murat" protagonists and it looks so stupid. Hated Silsila for all the reasons you have mentioned, similar thing happened in Kabhie Kabhie as well, both the lovers Rakhi and Amitabh married other people because "parents,izzat and society" etc etc. MDK is just a nonsensical movie 😆 I also have a problem with some of the movies made in the 70s/80s and early 90s where they showed their female characters to be these extreme pativratas, as if their sole purpose in life was just to serve their husbands, in-laws and nothing else. So yes, BW has been showing some extremely problematic stuff since what, forever?🤔

I think you are talking about HDDCS-Hum dil de chuke sanam and they are talking about HANK- Hum apke hain kaun.

The ones mentioned here and many more..one that comes to.mind is Naseeb apna apna.

Was Biwi no.1 also regressive? Don't remember much of it but didn't like the plot n movie when watched
