Honestly... I don't know if to recommend it or not, Ishqi. I haven't been into Marathi shows almost all my life. I happened to stumble upon this one, Yeu Kashi Tashi Mi Nandayala one day. Watched for two minutes, changed the channel and forgot about it.
After several days, the three-minute long clips of the show appeared in my YouTube feed and I loved them. I ended up watching all the short clips available in YouTube which I found so calming before heading to Zee5.
The show has flaws, there is no denying there but the duo was worth watching for me because the emotions were extremely honest. It was their emotional honesty that attracted me.
The male protagonist is 💜. Absolute love. He stays the only fictional man who did not disappoint me. Not even once. He was the one who suffered the most in the show in my opinion. He made promises and stayed true to them from the very beginning till the very end. He stayed loyal to his people throughout.
His mum's character was my equally favorite one.
The female protagonist gets married to someone else though. The whole episode was lame. I think, I could watch and enjoy because I did not go through that frustrating process of daily episodes. I binge watched. I knew what I was signing up for.
First 300 episodes absolutely worked for me but there are scenes that defy logic though. #ITV 😆
But yes, Om made sure that I never regretted getting into YKTMN. ❤️

It sounds interesting...let me see if I can try it...
My problem is that my Zee5 App/website don't work well..I've tried to watch JYRG and Yahan Main ghar ghar kheli from Chinmayi's recommendation but the videos keep getting stuck about 5 mins in so I just canceled the Zee subscription too. And unfortunately the ones on youtube are not available in my region or something.
But if I can find it somewhere else, will def try. Thanks for the suggestion! 🤗
But yes, YKTMN was the first Marathi show that I watched after ages and it is because of that one, why I am watching Thipkyanchi Rangoli today. It basically got me into Marathi shows. Otherwise I don't recall stopping at a Marathi daily soap channel. I would have never known about Thipkyanchi Rangoli's existence. 😆❤️
The last one that I watched was Jivlaga. That one is definitely worth watching. Unfortunately, I couldn't watch till the end back then. Now that I remembered, I will go back to watch but I can still safely recommend that to you.
The conflicts were serious. An extramarital affair. A husband who cheats on his wife. A husband who knows that his wife is cheating on him. It's a mess but worth watching mess, I guess.
I am someone who thoroughly enjoys Swapnil Joshi as an actor. He is also one of the reasons why I watched Jivlaga. Biased me. 😆
So basically both the partners are cheating on each other? 😲

Is this a sign from the universe for me not to watch more shows and focus on my work? 😆 But will I listen to this sign? 😛

The wife ( couple A ) and the husband ( couple B ) fall in love. B's wife is unaware but A's husband knows it all. Messy mess. 😆
Finally, here’s the story. So sorry about the delay but I was struggling to balance Khadus with the idiotic side of him that we are seeing without making him too bad, which was much harder to write than I expected. Plus I had to make plot changes to fit the rest of the story since my original plan of picnic and cooking competition just got stolen by the show. 😆 Anyway, enjoy the first part now! Will post remaining 2 parts much sooner since I have it figured out now! All criticism welcome!
Setting: Starting from Netra falling down the steps on purpose but a small change that the convo between Appu & Netra wasn’t recorded and all three Vartaks were also present at that second wedding and reception. Consider this my substitute for the whole Netra track.
A Trip to Remember
Part 1
Shashank didn’t know how he was going to confess his feelings yet but he wanted to make sure that Appu was in a good mood at least to start the conversation, especially after her line of doubts earlier and Netra’s presence. He was arranging all the pani puri in the kitchen when he hears a scream. He runs out to see that Netra had fallen down the stairs and Appu was also standing at the top of the stairs looking surprised. Before anyone can say anything, they were joined by the whole family and they take Netra into the living room.
Netra was crying dramatically and tried to insinuate to everyone that she felt that someone had pushed her down the stairs. The family looked around confused at each other but Shashank was watching Appu who looked angry. Appu was annoyed because she knew that her Netra Tai was just acting once again to gain sympathy especially from her Khadus. Unfortunately, Shashank couldn’t understand the reasons behind Appu’s expressions and was wondering how a girl that cares for everyone, can seem so unaffected by her own cousin’s pain. Of course, Netra’s continued cries and her looking pointedly at Appu when saying that someone pushed her were also clouding his brain. Thankfully, before the situation could worsen, Sarika Atya and Dr. Kaushik stepped into the picture.
Sarika: Esa kuch nahin hai Netra, meine khud dekha jab tum stairs se giri thi, koi nahin tha vaha par. I think tumhari foot slip hogayi hogi.
Netra, angry at her mother once again spoiling her happiness: Aapko tho kabhi meri baat sahi nahin lagti na Sarika Vartak!
Dr. Kaushik intervenes and stops the discussion. He checks Netra’s foot and says that he believes that it might be fractured but she will need an X-ray to confirm and will also need to be cared for 2-3 weeks while she heals and her foot is in a cast. Sarika Atya says that she will take her to the doctor and take care of Netra as needed but Netra refuses to go anywhere with her mother.
Dr. Kaushik: Ok Netra, tume Sarika ki help nahin leni toh fine. Par mein ek doctor ki tarah tume treat kar sakthi hu right? Toh chalo hum tumhara cast lagwate hai aur phir sochte hai kya karna hai.
Netra: Shashank sir, aap bhi mere saath chal sakthe hai please?
Anjali: Kyu? Ye kyu chayye tume? Kaushik hai, Sarika jo tumhari aai hai voh bhi tumhare saath hogi aur phir mein bhi toh hu…I’m also a doctor in case you forgot!
Kukki: Sachme madam? Hum sab toh bhool gayi ki aap doctor hai. Kya hai na hum log kabhi aapko esi koi kaam karte hue nahin dekthe na.
Anjali: What do you mean? Mein yaha apni beti ki shaadi pe aayi thi aur apni beti ke paas rehna keliye rukhi hu. Issliye meine kuch din practice chod diya. That doesn’t mean-
Dr. Kaushik: Bas! Jo important hai uspe focus kare? Netra tum kya karna chathi ho? Tum akele rehte hu na? Humara saath tho tum aana nahin chathi toh kya karogi phir?
Anjali: Come on Kaushik. Thoda tho modern ho jau. Hum 21st century mein hai. If she needs help, voh ek nurse ko hire karsakthi hai.
Netra: Mein apna khud dekhlungi. Mujhe Sarika Vartak ke saath nahin rehna hai. Main PG hu toh abhi nurse hire karne ki paise nahin desakthi.
She continued acting helpless expecting someone from the family to jump in and offer her to stay here but seeing that no one was reacting, she decided she had to initiate it herself.
Netra: Sir, kya aap mere liye ek favor karsakthe hai? Kya ek do din keliye mein yeha rehsakthi hu? Mujhe thoda time bhi miljayega koi cheap nurse dundne keliye. Aur yeh main sirf apse puch sakthi hu. Aap tho jaante hai na, ki mere aapke alava yeha koi nahin hai.
Shashank awkwardly replies: I’m sorry Netra but yeh possible nahin hoga. I mean to say ki kal se hum log khud ghar pe nahin hongi, toh tum yeha kese rukh sakthi hu.
Sumi: Voh kya hai na Netra, humare parivaar mein shaadi ke baad humare village ki mandir mein jaane ki rivaz hai, issliye hum sab kal hi jaa rahe hai.
Netra: Ha par isme Shashank sir ka kya kaam? Voh rukh sakthe hai right? I mean shaadi toh unki atya ki hui hai na.
Nikhil: Humne kab kaha ki hum sirf Babi Atya keliye jaa rahe hai? Iss ghar mein teen newly married couples hai aur teeno ka yeh rivaz pending hai. Mein aur Sumi, Babi atya aur Bhaskar kaka, and most importantly, iss ghar ka beta Shashank aur iss ghar ki choti bahu Appu!
Netra was burning listening to this but couldn’t let herself lose such a chance to taunt Appu: Ha par inn dono ki shaadi tho contract hai na. Ek saal ke baad tho yeh ladki vapas chale jayegi. Toh ye saari rivaz ka kya matlab?
Kukki: Netra tum phir se bhul gayi mere baatein. Shaadi inn dono ki hai na, toh unhe dekhne do, tum kyu beech me pad rahi ho?
Anjali: Ek minute, kya chal raha hai ye sab? Netra, tumhe apni aai ke saath nahi rehna hai par iss ghar mein rehna ok hai? Aur Shashank ki life mein tume itni interest kyu hai?
Amey: Are Anjali Madam, of course isse interest hai. After all, Shashank ke saath tho iska double rishta hai na?
Shashank: Amey da, kya bol rahi hu aap? Netra sirf meri assistant hai that’s it.
Amey: Voh professionally Shashank, par personal life mein toh yeh Appu ki behen hai na, matlab tumhari saali. Actually Netra, tum aaj se Shashank ko jiju bulana shuru karo! Phir kisiko koi confusion bhi nahin hogi.
DK: Acha bas! Dekho Netra, tumhara apni aai ke saath jaana hi best hai. Doctor, aap isse lekar jao. Amey tum inn logon ke saath jao aur madad karo.
Netra: Arey nahin Amey Dada kyu? I mean main unhe itna jaanti bhi nahin hu na, so thoda uncomfortable hoga.
Amey: Arey Netra, abhi toh Dada kaha na mujhe. Aur baaki sab kal ki preparations mein busy hongi, so mujhe hi chalna hoga tumhare saath.
Despite her many tries to emotionally blackmail the family and Shashank, Netra was unsuccessful in her attempts and without any other choice, she had to do as everyone was saying to avoid becoming bad in front of Shashank. But as she was leaving, she noticed that during the entire conversation, Shashank’s eyes and concentration were only on Apurva. At first, she believed that her plan had worked and he believed her lie about someone, maybe Apurva, pushing her down the stairs. But as she paid more attention, she didn’t see the anger she was expecting but instead saw sadness and was that guilt? She planned so much, from faking a fall and a sprain to willingly falling down the steps and ending up with a fractured foot, thinking she could be close to her Shashank sir for a while and create differences between them. She knew that he would never back down from taking care of her when she was hurt in his house and especially when he would believe that Apurva is the cause of her pain but all her plans were for naught simply because of a stupid ritual of going to the temple! Now she ended up with a fractured foot, without her Shashank sir near her, and most likely having to bear the presence of her mother and mama to keep up her sanskari pretense in front of the Kanitkars.
As Netra left with the Vartaks and Amey, Shashank barely paid them any attention lost in his own thoughts.
Shashank POV
How could I doubt Apurva like that? It was only for a moment but if Sarika Atya hadn’t said something, would I have believed worse? But how could Apurva act so unaffected when she could see her sister in pain? I really don’t know what to think anymore. Is this the same girl who was ready to make all the adjustments necessary and beyond so that everyone in the family can be happy?
He thought back to the day that the topic of this trip started. Even though it was brought up once before his marriage, the events thereafter especially due to Babi Atya’s wedding put the thought out of everyone’s mind. But with three new couples in the house, it came up again during the second round of planning of Babi Atya’s wedding.
Flashback
Once Babi had agreed to get married again, the atmosphere in the house was the happiest it had been in most of their memories. It was somehow even better than the first time they were planning this whole event just a few days ago. But Deepali’s drastic decision and all the struggles had left it’s own impact on Mai’s mind. So as the whole Kanitkar family sat around planning the marriage again with Bhaskar, Deepali, Ovi, Dr. Kaushik, Sarika, and even Anjali Vartak, Mai brought up her wish.
Mai: Dekho, bahut muskhil se, Babi ki zindagi sahi hone wali hai. Toh main soch rahi thi ki shaadi ke baad, hum Babi aur Bhaskar ko lekar humare gaanv ki mandir pe jaaye pooja keliye.
Sua Aai: Bikhul sahi ha Mai! Hume jaana chayye!
Kukki: Aur sirf Babi Tai keliye nahin. Humare ghar ka hero aur heroine keliye bhi. Appu bhi shaadi ke baad nahin gayi na.
Nikhil: Correct hai Kukki, aur hum log bhi toh nahin gayi! Mere matlab hai ki meri aur Sumi ki shaadi ke baad, hum Shashank ki shaadi mein busy hogayi, vese plan tho tha inn dono ki shaadi ke baad jaane ka par voh bhi postpone hogayi.
Amey: Ye perfect hai. Puri family ki picnic hojayega!
Appu: WOW!!! Family picnic! Bahut mazaa ayega! I’m in!
Shashank: Are ek min. Kya mazaa ayega? Hum koi tourist destination pe nahin jaane wale, gaanv hai. Aur jis ghar mein hum rukne wale hai, waha par AC toh chodo, ek achi fan bhi nahin hogi aur upar se jo power cuts honge voh alag. Tum kese adjust karogi?
Appu: Are bas 2 din ki baat haina…don’t worry main adjust karlungi. Main yaha bhi toh adjust karti hu na AC ke bina aur meri teddy ke bina bhi.
Kukki: Don’t worry Appu, vaha par tumhe sirf AC aur fan ke bina adjust karna hoga, teddy toh tumhare saath hi hoga na!
Ignoring the snickers of the gang around him, an embarrassed Shashank tries to make his naive wife understand the situation.
Shashank: Apurva, vaha jaakar jis ghar mein hum rehne wale hai na, it’s like a community center. Matlab vaha par ek bada kitchen hoga, and 2-3 bathrooms honge but separate rooms nahin hai. Sirf do bade halls hongi aur sari ladies ek kamre mein aur saare gents dusre kamre mein sona hoga…sab ke saath. Tumhe chalega?
Appu: Arey isme problem kya hai? Yeh toh camping ki tarah hoga na…bas nature ke beech ke badle hum ek ghar mein camping karenge…it’s ok, mujhe chalega!
Amey: Kya baath hai Appu! Yeh hui na Kukki gang wali baath!
Kukki: Aur Shashank, tujhe Appu keliye kya badi problem lagti hai? Appu ka vaha sab ke saath sona ya phir Appu ka uski teddy ke bina sona?
Ovi: Wow…Appu Tai, aap abhi bhi teddy ke saath sothi ho? Mujhe bhi chayye esa teddy!
Nikhil: Arey beta! Ye teddy sirf Appu ki hai, bahut special hai aur kisi aur ke paas nahin hoga. Special dhadi wala teddy!
The gang starts laughing loudly while the elders laugh shyly looking at an embarassed and blushing Shashank and a clueless Appu.
Shashank: Kya bol rahi ho Nikhil Rao. Topic ko divert mat karo tum log. Aur Apurva, problem sirf vaha rehna nahin hai. Dekho tum yaha dress pehnti ho, isse kisiko problem nahin hai par vaha par ye sab nahin chalega. Voh gaanv hai, vaha par tumhe sarees pehni hogi baki sab ladies ki tarah aur tujhe ache se baat karni hogi sab se, whether you like them or not. Varna sab humare poore parivaar ko bura samjhenge.
Appu: I know. Mujhe pata hai. Mujhe sab pata hai. Baba mujhe apni bachpan ki stories sunate te na, toh mujhe sab pata hai. So what? Humare shaadi ke time meine itni saari saree pehni thi na, aur voh itni heavy heavy sarees with the bhari jewelry. Ab mein do din aur pehn sakthi hu. Aur mai sab ke saath ache se hi baat karti hu, sirf tume bura lagti hu.
Shashank: Acha tike. Par hum vaha par vacation pe nahin, pooja keliye jaane wale hai na. Toh mandir jaane keliye tumhe subah 5 baje utna hoga. Tumhe chalega?
Shocked, Appu asks: 5 baje utna hoga?
Shashank: Ha, 5 baje, Tumhe toh aadat hai na 10 baje tak na utne ki, toh tum itni jaldi utkar, ready hokar, pooja keliye ready ho sakthi ho?
Thinking deeply for a while, Appu answers: Mai ne kaha na yeh pooja karne se sab acha hota hai. Toh sab ki baliyi keliye mein karlungi. Aur tum mujhe utana 5 baje toh mein utt jaungi for sure!
Shashank: Are par voh gaanv—
Appu: Khadus, tumara problem kya hai? Aur ye baar baar gaanv gaanv kyu kar rahi ho? Sach bolo na sab ko, ki tume mere saath voh pooja and all nahin karna hai, issliye ye sab excuses dhund rahi ho.
Shashank: Mujhe kya problem hoga? Mein toh tumhare baare mein soch raha tha!
Mansi: Acha, Appu ke bare mein soch rahe thi aap Bhauji?
Shashank: Mere matlab hai ki agar vaha jaakar yeh Shist kuch gadbad kiya toh hum sab ko bhugatna padega na, issliye.
Appu: Mein kuch nahin karungi. Jese Mansi Vahini aur Sumi mujhe bolenge, vahi karungi, ok? Tumhe aana hai toh aao varna akele ghar mein bhete raho…without your bayko.
After much discussion, Shashank gives in and agrees for the trip which was planned for immediately after the small reception.. Since Bhaskar was going to go, out of formality, family had to invite Deepali and Ovi as well. At first Deepali made a big deal out of it, (Ovi isn’t used to it, how can she adjust, etc…), but fearing that her absence might make B&B closer, she got convinced in the end. DK then invited the Vartaks to join as well and Dr.K and Sarika Atya were immediately ready to do so, but Anjali Vartak had comments to make as usual.
Anjali: Mein nahin aane wali. Appu, tum esi jagah pe kese jaa sakthi ho. You don’t need to do all this. Kese middle class rituals follow karti ho tum log. Kitni backward hai ye sab.
Appu: Excuse me, aap ka nahin aana hi sab keliye best hai Dr.Anjali. Kesa hai na, itni achi kaam mein, hume negativity nahin chayye toh please. Aur mein kaha jau, kaha nahin, ye mein khud decide karti hu. Agar mera ye pooja karne se, Mai aur baaki sab khush honge, toh mein karungi. Please don’t interfere!

Jo ladki sab ki khushi keliye itni adjust karne ko ready thi, usse apni behen ki parvah kese nahin hai? Kya meine Apurva ko galat samjha? Mujhe voh bahut pasand aane lagi, ab shayad pyaar bhi, at least mein yahi samajtha tha. Par kya ye sachme pyaar hai ya sirf attraction? Kyunki agar ye pyaar hai toh mujhe Apurva pe bharosa kyu nahin hai? Nahin nahin, mein Apurva se pyaar karne lagi hu. Mujhe uski mastikhor nature bhi pasand aane lagi hai. Aur jis tarah se voh meri parivaar se pyaar karti hai aur unki fikar karti hai, voh toh sab se best hai. Ha par voh abhi bhi padai nahin karna chathi aur voh one year wala deal bhi toh hai. Lekin phir bhi, mujhe usse pyaar hone laga, toh meine uspe itni asani se doubt kese kiya? Kya karu?
