Chapter 4: Everything has an end!

It was acomplicated week. The house was split in two and Akriti was enjoying being a victim and this was up setting Anubav, but the lawyer asked him to stay calm and wait.

Today on his way home from work he saw a car in front of the house, he knew that trouble had come to his door.

He saw Akriti's father shouting at his family and this made him angry.

"Mr Saxena! shouted Anubav."

The latter turned towards him red with anger. But Anubav's family knew the boy, so they breathed a sigh of relief and resignation.

"So don't lecture my family, think about educating your daughter. If you taught her what is right and wrong, I don't think things would have come to this."

"Wha tdo you mean? Besides having no remorse, you think you're smart, Akriti's father replied."

"Your believes that she can get anything she wants because she has decided to."

Anubav turned to the drama queen, and gave a wry smile.

"Shall I explain to my family how we ended up married?"

Akriti's gaze turned wary, she believed Anubav was unaware of what she did.

"That party where my family was humiliated by Dr. Maya, should I tell them that you were a part of that?"

Anubav's mother put her hand over her mouth and Badi Maa let out a scream. Finally, the whole family began to look at Akriti with a different set of eyes.

"So it's true Bahu? asked BP, did I feed a snake thinking that she was so devoted to my family when she is wearing a mask!"

"No BP, began Akriti."

"Cut the crap Akriti! You don't love me, what you love is to have what Gungun has! You think you love me, but you are interested in possessing me. I am a person not an object, so I am asking you one last time! Sign the marriage annulment or I will have to file a complaint!"

"It is I who should file a complaint against your family, shouted Akriti's father."

"What's your motive? I have plenty of reasons, and I'm not sure you'd like your daughter's name to be sullied!"

The two men glared at each other, at which point Garima arrived and sighed.

"It's time to stop this circus, she said, walking towards her husband. You know very well that Akriti doesn't like Anubav, and I wouldn't want to say what happened at the wedding, so do as he asks."

"What happened Garima-ji, asked BP."

"My daughter doesn't like Anubav, she just wants to have what Gungun has. She thinks Gungun is taking everything that is supposedly hers. I am really sorry that things have come to this."

BP dropped down on the sofa, several family members surrounding him. Anubav did not feel sorry. He was the only one who believed that Akriti was the perfect daughter-in-law she liked to show off.

"Anubav, said BP in a small voice. You have my support..."

Anubav doesn't say anything, it's not like he's expecting her support, but if it calmed things down in the house it's already a good thing. Anubav's mother handed the papers to Akriti with a pen.

"Free my son! she said in a cold voice. It's time to stop all this!"

Akriti sought her father's support, but Anubav stepped forward.

"I'm telling you again Akriti, you can either do it nicely or I can help you do the drama you love so much! And you know what kind of society we live in! I could live my life the way I want to, but I doubt it for you!"

Akriti's ego was eating away at her, she wanted to get even, but the father calmed down when he saw Anubav's resolve.

"Akriti sign, he finally said."

"But Daddy..."

"One thing at a time, sign, we'll see what happens next."

"There's nothing next. You think you can control others, but you've got the wrong idea. Don't force me to show you who I really am!"

Anubav's mother and his gang stood aside and behind him was the whole Kulshreshth family against them.

Akriti signed the paper and sent it to Anubav, she went upstairs to collect herthings, she stopped at the door.

"You think you can be happy with Gungun? Don't count on it!"

"I don't care what you think, please get out of my house."

Anubav sighed as she finally left. There was still Garima standing in front of him.

"I'm sorry, she said. My daughter..."

"You don't have to apologize. This is all our fault. My family for believing that you can replace a person and me for not taking courage to refuse.

"I hope you will be happy with Gungun."

"Thank you so much for everything."

Garima gave him a smile and left.

Anubav hugged his mother, he finally felt free. Of course, too much had happened so he couldn't ask his family to accept Gungun yet, but he would work on it in the days to come.

His uncle patted him on the back, and he laughed softly. His team was always there for him. Now he had to tell Gungun the good news and the first thing tomorrow bring the documents to the lawyer.

"Anu."

Anubav turned to his BP, and he didn't like the look in his eyes. What was he going to tell him?

Chapter 5: Is this a start?

Anubav waited until the whole house hold was asleep before going out. He had tried to reach Gungun, but she was not answering her phone. He realised that Garima must have told him what had happened, so out of guilt or whatever, she preferred to brood.

He walked towards Gungun's villa with a heavy heart and fear in his stomach. She wants to be with him, but she doesn't want to hurt others, he never knows how to satisfy her. He parked and walked quickly to the door. He rang the bell, Garima opened the door.

"I've been waiting for you, was all she said."

"Sorry to come so late."

"She didn't eat, she spent the evening crying in front of her father's picture."

Anubav passed through the kitchen before heading to Gungun's room.

"Gungun."

She raised her head slowly, as if she were diving from a world he could not see and cross.

"You skipped your dinner again."

"I'm not hungry."

"You have to eat to live and especially to face life."

"I don't want to live! shouted Gungun."

Anubav put the plate on the dressing table and walked towards her. He forced her to her feet and shook her.

"Why are you always so dramatic? I asked you to be strong, to wait for me to fix things..."

"But what about Akriti..."

Anubav sighed in irritation and released her. He ran his hand through his hair, looked again at Gungun who was silently crying. He felt like breaking something, but he had to remain calm to make her understand.

"Gungun, there is a limit to being nice. You have a good heart, that's good, but Akriti didn't love me, and you didn't take it, besides if I don't recognize her as my wife and I didn't want this marriage how is it your fault. It's a matter of logic and maturity."

Gungun dropped onto the bed and wiped away his tears.

"Maturity...she murmured? What is mature about hurting others."

Anubav glanced at her.

"Gungun, you can't make everyone happy. So if I understand, you would have wanted me to stay married to Akriti so as not to make her and us suffer, in the mean time?"

"We would have found a solution."

"I think it's because you're on an empty stomach that you're spouting so much bullshit. Eat and you'll regain your mental faculties.

Anubav spent the next few minutes feeding Gungun, at first she refused, but with a little blackmail she ended up eating the whole meal. Then he helped her to sleep. On his way out, he ran into Garima again.

"Gungun didn't live in a close family, so she wouldn't want you to lose yours."

"I don't think that's all there is to it," Anubav pointed out. She may suffer, but she doesn't want others to suffer, but that's not how life works. I couldn't stay with Akriti just to make her suffer. I didn't like Akriti and she didn't like me, so why?"

"I know you didn't, but you have to make her understand things patiently, otherwise her insecurities will eat away at her."

"I will do it right, promised Anubav. Our wedding will take place with everyone's blessings as soon as the marriage annulment is confirmed."

"I wish you nothing but happiness. But you know her mother will be back soon, I hope she won't be between you."

"Dr Maya doesn't scare me. It will just take courage for Gungun..."

Anubav turned his gaze towards his wife's room. He would have to find a solution forall her woes. Perhaps some counselling will do him good.

With that,he went home.

The next day, the first thing he did was to go to the lawyer, who informed him that he would need a week to sort everything out. This took a weight off his heart, he would just have to wait for the mail to finally feel like a free man.

His day atwork was quiet, but many of his colleagues were watching him. When he came across Akriti, he realised that she had made her victim. He sighed and went to Mrs Dean's office. She told him that Akriti had come crying into her office this morning, when he was busy dealing with colleagues from another city, and that her entire department knew about their situation.

Anubav was angry, but he took it upon himself, as usual, not to care what others thought. He went home, thinking about how he was going to handle the whole thing. Akriti didn't seem to want to stay in his place, and he didn't want Gungun to know what was going on, so he decided to wait before acting.

He found his family gathered in their living room. They were talking and some even seemed angry. He didn't want to know what was bothering them so he went straight up to his room.

He wondered if he should go straight to the wedding without rehashing the whole sangeet and mendhi thing, but would Gungun want to rehash things as they should be or not?

He would want to make her happy, but she should think a little about herself and not about others, that wouldn't mean she was selfish, but being happy is what makes others happy.
