I always wonder - why do makers ruin their own show? Even a product company does a market study to identify their target customer base, geography, current trends etc before releasing their product.
All these production houses know what kind of shows rule ITV. When you aim to make something different, you should anticipate the risks that come with it. You are making it for a niche audience and not the mass. The mass will never appreciate a sensible show. Then y can't u stay faithful to your original vision and to the audience who will be faithful to you? Those who associated themselves with your show right from its inception? In a bid to gain more viewers, why do you screw up your own story? The new audience who want to watch it for drama sake will find it hard to connect with the show since they are unfamiliar with it and the loyal viewers who were with the show from day 1 quit. At the end of it, you end up giving it a shabby end ruining whatever little memories the faithful audience had.
Sorry for the rant but this question has haunted me for years now.
Economics!
I can't fathom how they managed to destroy the show. I thought creative people ke liye especially their art, their craft is like their baby. Toh bacche koi aise bada kiya?
They reeled the old audience who loved BALH S1, polished it up, created beautiful promos and made it appealing to the audience that is not as much into ITV, TRP audience was always there. They gave us just enough so we get attached, then back to the age old formula! Once you're hooked, then it's hard to let go..in the time all this is happening, they have 200+ episodes under their belt.
We are the ones fretting, losing sleep while they laugh all the way to the bank.
I felt bad earlier for the leads, even now so many posts saying they deserve better work that matches their talent, but realistically speaking, they are a part of the industry and they know how it works. If they have signed on the dotted line, they know what they are getting into!

Actually the last say is from PH and channel. Writers also have no say in the script. They have to write what is told to them and if they refuse they are fired and new writers/actors who are more melliable are hired.
Honestly this script is getting approved by EK and channel that's why we are seeing this.
And exactly actors know too. At the end it's all about constant and stable money.

I agree the leads deserve better but they don't deserve to be out of work. TV gives them a stable source of income and they don't have a say in creative story telling unless they decide to quit. This is a routine for them. Its us audience who suffer 😭
They riled up even the season 1 fans who became loyal viewers of balh 2😭Originally posted by: DazzlingLight

It's sad, isn't it? EK has shown in the past that she is capable of delivering good content.
But she is also the same who introduced the saas bahu sagas, garish costumes, light flashes, kya kya kya, glorified patriarchy to such an extent on ITV that it became the norm.
In the interview where she announced BALH2, she spoke about how the show was really close to her heart and she was not bringing it back for the sake of TRP.
Had she stuck to the story that was promised and stayed true to her own words, TRPs would have automatically followed. Kya disconnect hai yeh?

@bold: Like me. I watched BALH2 ONLY because I loved S1 (until Pihu's teenager avatar wala leap) and I was just drawn in by the promos.

I saw few scenes with the child actor and she was cuteness personified. She was so adorable. It was a delight to see her and her scenes with Ram were so good. If anything I might look forward to just that post leap. I am sure Nakul will be amazing as a dad to a little Pihu. I am sure S2 won't go to teenage phase coz both NM and DP might not want to play parents to grown ups. NM looks way too younger than his actual age and DP is still young.

Kid Pihu of S1 was adorable ❤️ and so much like Ram 😆
S2 won't and should not survive that long 🤣
