maybe I will come off as a thali ka bengan here but I don't dislike Meera, I disliked the storyline surrounding her. I know I m going to sound like a broken here- haseena (no matter how annoying she gets at times), Karishma, my masumiyat, Pushpa Ji, cheetah, billu and Mahila police thana (what it stands for and hopes to achieve) is what matters to me the most. so when Meera came in, her personality (or lack thereof), the complete shift in focus, imbalanced dynamics and the sloppy writing around cases with glaring plotholes irritated the hell out of me. even then, Meera was a breath of fresh air, as one of you put it. the whole Andriod vis-a-vis humans debate was an interesting plot point that I wish was handled properly since that was the entire point of Meera as a character (the crashing and burning of it notwithstanding). along with it being hilarious, her dynamic with Karishma was an opportunity gift-wrapped for them. an android doesn't comprehend and perceive things the way humans do. so Karishma could not go in guns blazing when she was upset (Meera tried to strangle her). this was an opportunity for her to learn a lesson and grow as a person, something haseena couldn't do. to some extent, I think she did learn a thing or two. at the very least, she grew to respect Meera as an officer and comrade- character development. that is why the send off with Karishma saying, "yeh machine nahi thi sir, yeh meera thi." along with the salute and minute of silence was hands down one of the best scenes of the entire show for me as well as perfectly fitting for her character's end. does that mean I like it overall? no. but do I think Meera was a likeable character? yes.
now coming to the promo; i am in two minds about this.
on one hand, this is a good opportunity. aman presents a good challenge for MPT professionally. a healthy competition is good for professional development. a push here and there often promotes changes for the better in us. so I don't mind seeing a clash (respectful interactions and not a battle of ego) between the two stations and their ways of working. on a character level, I personally would like to see their dynamics shaken up a bit(so that they can be strengthened and not come completely crashing down). if written properly, aman can finally make them address the elephant in the room. speaking of which, i agree with anee here that he seems like a steadfast, confident and promising officer (although he is coming off a little arrogant) who won't be a double dholki. id like to see a strong male officer doing his job without any buffoonery. honestly, i won't even mind if he is a villain but he needs to be smart and pose an actual threat to them.
this lowkey reminds me of b99 when the other precient moved into the 99. the difference here is that those people weren't main or even recurring characters like aman is going to be.
on the other hand, I really despise the conversion of MPT into a general station. one, and this is more of early speculation than anything else, MPT has been appreciated and lauded by the whole of Lucknow for their ways of working, canonically. so why in hades' name is it being changed? I want to know what explanation they have for this (please don't be like the one given to introduce Meera). more than that, it's a niche they've used over 500 episodes to establish. why throw that all away? as Komal said, the core concept- 4 women officers running a women police station- is being messed with, which i cannot stand. again, it's always been the story and characters that matter to me the most. if they really wanted to do something like this, have him take over bulbul Pandey and continue whatever they wanted to do.
MS has a notorious reputation for not being able to balance its characters. with the addition of another four, I am a little sceptical of how it's going to work.
BUT, the most important, the one that will really send me rolling in my grave, is the love angel. I've said it before, I don't want to see it (one of the primary reasons I picked up MS). i want the characters to focus on themselves, dealing with their inner demons and working on their existing relationships (those need a lot of work). they can stay single for their entire lives, I don't mind. in fact, I cannot believe that haseena would move on from ehsaas wala pyaar so fast if ever (could be my personal basis based on the way I perceive relationships). I agree with Sainath in that this dude should only be here for a handful of episodes.
in conclusion, the overall concept would make for a good couple of episodes provided it's written well unlike ehsaas wala pyar that was nothing short of a seizure induing dumpster fire.
last thing, my masumiyat talking about her ideal type of guy and proposing Karishma is so that she can gush about this new entry later on. plus to make cheetah jealous and start behaving like a possessive nonexistent ex. it's annoying but that's been her pattern right from the first episode - Karishma, anubhav, chandramukhi chautala and that action hero. Mark my words, she is going to be the most receptive/ accepting of this new entry.
