Punjab Kings have their task cut out as they take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 60th game of the Indian Premier League today at 7:30 pm in Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, India.

The Kings come here with a loss against the Rajasthan Royals where the bowling attack let them down. The Royal Challengers Bangalore are looking in good form after their comprehensive win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last game.

The Punjab Kings have the last chance to keep their hopes alive for a berth in the next round.

The side would be under immense pressure playing this game after their heartbreaking loss in the last game.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have shaped up well in the last two games and have nearly booked a berth in the next playoffs round.

It was a clinical performance from the Royal Challengers Bangalore against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last game where they won by 67 runs.

Their batters and bowlers are looking in good form.

They had lost to the Punjab Kings earlier, and Faf du Plessis would aim to even it out with a good show here and secure a spot in the playoffs.

Both sides have strong batting line-ups and this game is expected to go down the wire.

The five S’s of sports success are: stamina, speed, strength, skill, and spirit; but the greatest of these is spirit.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan have been dismissed four times each against spin while Bairstow has fallen twice to spin in IPL 2022.

Hasaranga did dismiss Mayank, albeit via a dragged down delivery at the start of the tournament.

It would also be interesting to see the battle between Hasaranga and Livingstone plus Jitesh.

Livingstone has a habit of taking on the spinners with shots over midwicket. But he would be up against Hasaranga's scrambled seam varieties - googly and leg-break.

Probable XI: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis (c), Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Mahipal Lomror, Shahbaz Ahmed, Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Josh Hazlewood

Punjab Kings

Chahar has dislodged the dangerous Karthik twice in T20s.

One of the occasions was in IPL 2020 when Karthik employed a premeditated paddle sweep only to be tricked by a slow-turning leg-break.

Karthik perhaps would remember that dismissal and not try the shot again versus Chahar. On the other hand, Kagiso Rabada has dismissed his former South African skipper, Du Plessis, thrice in the shortest format.

Even though a couple of those dismissals came on the back of Du Plessis looking to press the accelerator. Rabada has also accounted for the scalp of Glenn Maxwell thrice in T20s.

Sandeep Sharma has struggled for form this season, but he has picked up Kohli's scalp seven times.

Probable XI: Jonny Bairstow, Shikhar Dhawan, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Mayank Agarwal (c), Jitesh Sharma (wk), Liam Livingstone, Rishi Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh, Sandeep Sharma

Rajat Patidar looks in good form and the side would like to see him build partnerships with Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik in the middle order. Shahbaz Ahmed, Wanindu Hasaranga and Mahipal Lomror bring firepower to this line-up down the order.

The Australia duo of spinner Glenn Maxwell and pacer Josh Hazlewood did well in the last game opening the bowling and early strikes would be needed from them. Pacer Mohammad Siraj and Wanindu Hasaranga have been the most consistent bowlers for the side and they would fancy their chances here. In Harshal Patel, Mahipal Lomror, and Shahbaz Ahmed the side has good variety in its bowling attack and this will add to their confidence.

Pitch Report

The last game that was played at the Brabourne stadium - Mumbai Indians versus Gujarat Titans - offered a bit of grip for the bowlers. However, that game was played on May 6 and one expects a fresh pitch for tomorrow's match. So it could turn out to be good conditions for batting. The humidity is expected to be around 70 per cent tomorrow, and there could be chances of some dew.

Head to head: RCB 13 - 16 PBKS. 2020 onwards, PBKS have emerged triumphant in four out of five matches.

Did You Know:

- Karthik, Livingstone, Rajapaksa and Jitesh occupy the first four slots in relation to highest strike rates - first 10 balls faced - in IPL 2022. Minimum qualification - 20 balls faced this season.

- The Brabourne Stadium has seen the highest run-rate (9.17) this season.

Shikhar Dhawan has looked in excellent form and he will need to set up a strong opening wicket stand with Jonny Bairstow.

Mayank Agarwal must steer the middle order with Jitesh Sharma and Bhanuka Rajapaksa and push the score up in the middle overs.

Liam Livingstone is a big hitter of the ball, and the side would expect quick runs from him and Rishi Dhawan down the order.

Punjab Kings’ bowling attack would face the heat heading into this game and good spells would be needed from pacers Sandeep Sharma and Kagiso Rabada with the new ball.

Pacer Arshdeep Singh has been a consistent performer for the team and he will have an important role in this game.

It is high time spinner Rahul Chahar delivers in the middle overs. Rishi Dhawan and Liam Livingstone have to support the main bowlers in this game.

Punjab Kings don’t have the liberty of losing the game.

They have their backs to the wall and the side will have to win this one to reach the playoffs.

There would be pressure on their bowlers and it will be interesting to see how they perform.

Royal Challengers Bangalore can play with more freedom.

They have won the last two games and have momentum on their side.

This would make them favorites to win here. Royal Challengers Bangalore are expected to win this match.

Rooting for RCB for the win.

Kohli can relax and play as usual.. do not want to overburden him with my expectations.😃

Virat Kohli who is in the middle of his worst IPL season, is due for an impact knock and that could come against Punjab.

A win today would take RCB to 16 points to be a safe number for a play-off berth.

Being an evening game, dew will play a pivotal role. The Pitch at the venue has shown that any target below 180 is not safe.

I wish, RCB to bat first, without any tension.
