Why Sridevi could make a successful comeback but not Madhuri?

Because Madhuri's USP was her sex appeal. Even the dancing appealed to masses because of the sensuality.

Unfortunately, not something accepted in senior actresses.

Sridevi was a fantastic actress on top of her own sex appeal and dancing skills. Hence she could pull off EV and Mom even after she crossed into middle age.

Because Madhuri converted herself to a mandir ka ghanta. Kabhi bhi Baja doh. Easily accessible on every reality show imaginable 

she waited for the right script ! 👍🏼

when she came back, she focused on this:

that's why she is regular in JDJ instead of movies.

that time, more content-specific movies were popular

she was not able to adapt with non-glamourous looks. 

Sridevi concentrated on content and acting post her come back 

Madhuri concentrated on becoming the “dhak dhak” girl again for the millennials who were kids when they first saw her…and the genz who didn’t see much of her at all 

Because Sridevi evolved with her acting and adjusted herself to the current style of acting which is more subtle while Madhuri is still stuck in the 90s acting.

As others said here, Sridevi focused on content and good scripts more. Madhuri is also a good actress but she chose terrible scripts and confined herself to just reality shows. 

Because Sri is Sri.. Nobody like her. Simple.😳

This. She wasn't selective. But then she had been out of the country n industry for so long..wasn't even married into BW like Sridevi. So her work at least gave her visibility on return. So can't say her choices were entirely wrong. Moreover dance was her USP..so they may have felt 'Aaja Nachle' as a better comeback option. It's like how my NRI uncles tell stories about India they grew up in ..and when their families visit India with a certain image in mind ..they r caught unawares😆

I loved Sridevi so much as a kid that was unhappy with Madhuri when she rose to fame. But grown up me realized both were good. Though still can't comprehend Sridevi's diction fully

You people will be saying anything at this point, just to prove a dubious assumption. Madhuri's first post-US film was Dedh Ishqiya. How can anyone claim her choice of the script was  terrible? The film was awesome. It didn't do wonders at the box office and Madhuri got the message: Indian audiences are not into films that experiment with genres and female characters. So she got her coin elsewhere. Big deal.

Meanwhile, Sridevi had literally one big cb hit and got that script thanks to being Boney's wife. But you'll be praising her to heavens while c*apping on Madhuri, as is the norm on this forum. LMAO
