I dedicate this SS to Revu who wanted me to write a short story on the movie Tum bin which was remade into telugu as Ela Cheppanu.Thanks to Revu for suggesting the actors for the 4 main characters of Tum Bin.
Sorry for posting it late Revu.Actually I had written this story when you told me about it.But since the cover page delayed,I became late in posting it.
A couple's engagement ceremony.....
The boy took the ring in his hand.
He:I know that you will permit me to put this ring on your finger.But I need your permission for something else.I don't know whether you will give me the permission.
She:Omkara,what is this?Just before our ring ceremony you are talking like this?
Omkara:Aastha,I have to go to Bangalore for an important meeting.Please don't say 'no'.
Aastha:Omkara,it is true that I can't live without seeing you.But I can't interfere in your profession.You can go.Why should I oppose?
Omkara smiled.
Omkara's grandmother Kalyani said:Now you guys exchange rings.What are you both waiting for?
Omkara-Aastha exchanged rings.
The guests congratulated them.
Kalyani blessed them.
Kalyani:I am so happy for both of you.You both are made for each other.
Omkara-Aastha smiled.
Omkara's father Tej:The to be wed couple..go and rock the dance floor.

Omkara-Aastha were sitting in a restaurant.
Aastha:You brought me here for a dinner date so that I can temporally forget my pain caused by your decision to go to Bangalore.Right?
Omkara:Yes.But I know that nothing can erase our pain.But for some time we can forget that and enjoy.Right?
Aastha nodded.
They enjoyed the dinner by feeding each other.
The next day...
Aastha had come to see off Omkara.Suddenly he pulled her closer.
Aastha:Omkara...what is this?Somebody will see us.
Omkara:So what?We are engaged.
She smiled.
They shared a romantic eye lock.
They moved away from each other.
They bid 'good-bye' emotionally.
Omkara:Bye.
Aastha:Bye.
Omkara attended the meeting in Bangalore.
Somebody from there called him for a party and Omkara went for the party.
While walking,he bumped into someone.
Omkara:Sorry.
That person:Sorry.
Omkara:It was not your fault.
He:It was not your fault too.
They both smiled.
Omkara:By the way,I am Omkara Singh Oberoi.
He:Hi,I am Shlok Agnihotri.
They shook their hands.
Shlok's phone rang.
Shlok:Excuse me.
Shlok moved away and attended the call.
It was Aastha.
Aastha:I miss you dear.I really love you.
Shlok was stunned.Slowly he smiled.
He thought:Who is this?Why is she calling me and telling me that she misses me?Is she my secret admirer.
He smiled while Aastha was blushing thinking that she was talking to Omkara.
Shlok:Who is this?
Aastha:I am your Aastha.Did'nt you recognize me Omkara?
Shlok thought:Oh,she mistook me for her lover.
Shlok:You are mistaken.I am not Omkara.
Aastha got embarrassed.
Aastha:Sorry.
She cut the call.
She rang up Omkara.Omkara picked up the call.
Omkara:Hi dear..
Aastha:I tried to call you.But I guess I typed the another number by mistake.The call reached someone else.Mistaking him for you,I said 'i love you' to him.I got embarrassed.
Omkara laughed.
Omkara:I hope he did'nt fall for you hearing you say 'I love you' to him.
Aastha frowned:You find it funny?What if I really say 'i love you' to him?
Omkara joked:What if one day,you will really say 'I love you' to him?
Aastha irritated:Stop joking Omkara.You know that I can never do that.Aastha is only yours.
Omkara:I know that Aastha.I just joked.
Shlok who passed by heard Omkara say 'Aastha'.
Shlok smiled thinking:So the caller girl's lover Omkara is Omkara Singh Oberoi.
Aastha to Omkara:Never joke like this again.
Omkara:Agreed dear.
A peppy dance was going on at the party.Shlok and Omkara were pulled to the stage to dance.Omkara imagined dancing with Aastha while Shlok danced alone.

After the party...
Shlok and his cousin brother Varad were driving back home.
Shlok was the one who was driving the car.
Suddenly he saw a puppy being followed by a small child on his way.He drove the car to a side to save the child and the puppy.But shockingly Omkara came that way and got hit by Shlok's car.Shlok was shocked.He stopped the car.Shlok and Varad got out of the car and went near Omkara without knowing that it was him.Shlok was shocked to see his face.
Shlok:Oh no...Omkara!We will take him to the hospital now.
Shlok took him to the hospital with Varad.
Shlok to the hospital staffs:It's an accident case.
Varad lied:We saw him lying on the road injured.
They took Omkara for operation.
The nurse gave Omkara's phone and purse to Shlok.
Omkara's phone rang.Seeing the name 'Aastha' with her photograph on the screen,he picked up the call.
Aastha:Omkara,did you start from there?What time will you reach here?
Shlok could'nt control his tears and switched off the phone.
The doctor came out and said:Sorry,we could not save him.
Shlok was shattered.
Doctor:His family has to be informed.
Varad took Omkara's purse and phone from Shlok and gave it to the doctor.
Varad:We don't know anything about this person.We just saw him on the road.So you can inform his family.This phone may help you.
Shlok was too numb to react.
Varad and Shlok reached their house where they stay.
Shlok was upset.
Varad:Shlok!Atleast talk something.Come on man!
Shlok burst out:What should I say?Today because of me,someone died.His beloved's voice is haunting me.She lost her lover because of me.I can never forgive myself.I feel so guilty.How can I forget everything so easily?
Varad:Listen Shlok.It was not your fault.It was just an accident.You don't blame yourself.
Shlok hugged Varad and cried:I can't forget this horrifying incident.
Varad became upset.
Seeing Omkara's lifeless body at the time of cremation,his family and Aastha could not stop crying.
A police station...
The constable looked at DSP Rashmi Singh and said:You have successfully caught so many wanted criminals.Still you are not satisfied?
Rashmi:No.Because I could'nt catch the person who was behind Omkara Singh Oberoi's accident.
The constable:But his own family did'nt file any case.They are not interested to find that person.
Rashmi:They say that they won't get Omkara back..then what's the use of finding that person?But my conscience is not allowing me to ignore it.At any cost,I will find that person.It's my promise to myself.
After some months....
Shlok went to Oberoi Mansion and introduced himself as Omkara's friend.
Shlok:I just met him at a party.Within some time,we became good friends.I came to know about Omkara's demise.So I felt like coming here.
Kalyani became upset while Tej was silent.
Kalyani:I will bring tea for you.
She went to the kitchen.
Shlok stood before Tej.His eyes were full of tears.
Shlok:Uncle...actually I came here to confess something.The guilt is killing me every moment.Because...actually Omkara died getting hit by my car.I swear...I did'nt do it purposefully.It just happened.
Shlok explained how the accident took place.
Shlok:I took him to the hospital to save his life.But unfortunately he could'nt be saved.I know that you can't forgive me as you lost your son because of me.But you punish me.I am willing to accept any punishment.I deserve it.
Tej stared at him.

Kalyani:I really feel sad for Omkara's fiancee Aastha.After Omkara's demise,his company got destroyed and it is in loss.Aastha took over it's responsibility.The poor girl is struggling hard to save the company.
Shlok felt upset.Suddenly Shlok's eyes fell on a little girl.
She:Are you Omkara Bhaiyya's friend?
Shlok nodded.
Kalyani:Omkara's little sister.
Shlok was surprised:Sister?
Kalyani:Yes.After giving birth to Kavya,their mother Jhanvi passed away.Since she is motherless and very much younger to Omkara,he loved her and pampered her like his own daughter.
Shlok became emotional.
He thought:I snatched your brother from you.I am sorry beta.
Shlok went near her.
Shlok:What's your name beta?
She:Kavya.
Shlok pulled her cheek cutely and said:Such a cute name!
Kavya smiled.
Shlok went to the Oberoi company.He went near Aastha's cabin.He overheard the bank officers telling Aastha to pay a huge amount of money,if not the company will be auctioned. Aastha was begging for more time.But they refused it.Shlok left from there.
The next day Omkara went there and knocked Aastha's door.
Shlok:May I come in Ma'am?
Aastha:Yes.
Shlok went inside.
Aastha and Shlok looked at each other.Shlok remembered seeing her photograph in Omkara's phone screen.
Shlok:I am Omkara's friend Shlok Agnihotri.
Aastha:O..I see.
Shlok:Months back,Omkara had told me to come to his office if I need a job.That's why I come here.
Aastha:Sorry,you have no vacancy here.
Shlok:Please don't say like that.Check my certificates.
Aastha had a quick glance through his achievement certificates.
Aastha:See..this company is in loss.I can't even give you salary.Then how can I appoint you?
Shlok:I am willing to work without salary.
Aastha:What nonsense are you saying?Anyways I am sorry to say that I can't give you job here in this condition.
Shlok held her hand and pleaded:Please don't say like that.
Suddenly he realized that he was holding her hand.He removed his hand from hers.
Shlok:Sorry.
Aastha nodded.
Shlok:Please give me a job.
Aastha:I am helpless.So please...
Shlok:Ok.But I hope that you will change your decision.
Shlok left.
Aastha:He is so strange.How can he say that he is ready to work without salary?
Aastha went to the Oberoi Mansion.There were Shlok and Varad too.
Aastha was stunned.
Aastha:You came here too?
Kalyani:You know him?He is Omkara's friend.
Aastha:He wants a job in our company.
Kalyani:I know.Shlok requested me to convince you to give him a job.
Shlok:Yes Ma'am.Please don't refuse.
Aastha:But how can I?
Kavya:Please Aastha di.He is very sweet.He gave me a gift too.
There was a gift in her hand.
Aastha:But...
Kalyani:Don't forget that he is Omkara's friend and Omkara had told him to come to his company if he needed a job.Please Aastha...

Shlok became very happy.
Shlok:That means I am appointed.Thank you very much.
Aastha kept silent.
After spending some time there,Shlok and Varad stepped out of their house.
Varad:Finally like you wanted you are going to be in the Oberoi company.
Shlok:Yes.Because of me,this company is in loss now and all those who were closer to Omkara are suffering.I will try my best to sort out their present issues,so that they will get some relief.I can't bring back Omkara.But I can atleast save their company.Thus I can be a little bit guilt free.
After Shlok's entry in the Oberoi company,the company's condition started improving and it started showing the signs of progress.Aastha and the Oberois were very happy.
Aastha to Shlok:I don't have much idea about business.But I took the responsibility of this company for Omkara and his family which is mine too.But you have great knowledge about business and it saved this company which is a sinking ship.I can't thank you enough Shlok.I really thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Shlok:No need of thanking me.It's my duty.Anything for Omkara.
Aastha smiled.
Aastha:Can you please help me to prepare the presentation?
Shlok:Sure,I will.
She smiled.
Aastha:Thank you Shlok and stop calling me Ma'am.Call me Aastha.
Shlok was surprised.He smiled.

Aastha:Why are you looking so upset Kavya?
Kavya:Nothing.I just missed Omkara bhaiyya.
Shlok and Aastha became upset.
Kavya:Omkara bhaiyya used to tell me lots of nice stories.
Shlok:I also know many stories.
Kavya:Really?
Shlok:Yes.
Shlok:Can I tell you stories?
Kavya replied with excitement:Yes.
Shlok started telling her stories.Kavya was deeply engrossed in it.
Shlok even sang and danced as a part of the story narration.He was dancing with funny expressions on his face.Kavya was fascinated by it.Aastha was smiling seeing it.

Kavya to Shlok:I really wished that Omkara bhaiyya should return to me.But now I feel that he has really come back in your form.I really feel that you are exactly like my Omkara bhaiyya.
Shlok became emotional hearing it.
Kavya extended her hand towards him and asked:Can I call you bhaiyya?
Shlok hold her hand tearfully and said:Yes.You call me bhaiyya.I have always considered you as my sister.I am your brother.
Kavya smiled.They hugged each other.Shlok was becoming emotional.
Kalyani,Tej and Aastha became emotional seeing it.
Varad and Shlok were sitting and talking.
Varad:Can I ask you something?
Shlok:Yes.
Varad:You are spending most of your time with Aastha now.Did you start loving her?
Shlok:What are you saying Varad?Just because I stay most of the time with her,that does'nt mean that I am in love with her.Stop talking nonsense Varad.
Varad:Ok fine.But in future you can think of loving Aastha as you both look good together.
Shlok:Varad..stop it yaar.
Varad:Ok ok.
Aastha gave medicine to Kalyani.
Kalyani:Aastha,what do you think of Shlok?
Aastha:Shlok is a nice boy.He helped us a lot.He treats you,Tej uncle and Kavya as his own family members.He has a good heart.
Kalyani:Yes..Shlok is a lovely boy.Why don't you think of moving on with Shlok?
Aastha was shocked.
Aastha:What are you saying Dadi?
Kalyani:How long will you live alone?You also need a life.If you live like this,even Omkara's soul will not be able to be happy.You will not get a better boy than Shlok.He is a pure soul like Omkara.
Aastha became emotional.
