Is Ram Kapoor Self Made Tich Businessman?

I'm but confused as Its show that Ram's dad was well enough and used to treat the family very well. Then how come Ram didn't have money to buy those lilies and how come he became such big shot. 

Is he the one who created this empire or it was his dad who left behind his legacy to follow. I may have missed something...but not able to figure out.

I think the Kapoors always had a pretty good business & were well-off coz

Nandini wldnt have married Snr Kapoor otherwise

Ram’s habits are of the born-rich

Snr Kapoor had a car

But when Snr Kapoor was killed in the accident, he may have left some business difficulties & that may have caused a big temporary downturn in the business (tho never to the extent that the Kapoors came to the streets coz the younger 2 have clearly never seen bad days). Ram took over the business in his early 20s & not only got it out of the downturn but built to even greater heights & emerged as a super successful young businessman in his own right.
