Kohli has set himself up for a big one, but this is a kind of surface where things happen if the bowlers keep at it, like Rabada proved. Pant has batted with determination and application, happy to play on the bowler's patience. Both of them have been a little uncharacteristic in their approach but that's what the situation demanded especially after India lost Pujara and Rahane in quick succession.
