Happy for him but I just don't get it. He's not that funny . His writing is average and predictable. The delivery is stilted or just bad.
Call My Agent was actually funny. The first three seasons were pretty good so I'm glad they won. Too bad the desi version was butchered.

Humour is very cultural I think. The things Indians find funny- they never will.

I think heβs token in this case π
Vir however, in the west.. his jokes are keeping in mind the audience.
I find stuff like friends so unfunny.

The jokes in my family WhatsApp group - I roll my eyes at. Kapil Sharma, makes me gag.
But Vir Das, I like. TVF sketches, I like.
I do love friends though. It is comfort food for me. I see you don't care for it.
----
Of the two Indias one must be proud of Vir and the other is confused whether to be proud of international recognition or angry for international shame.
Of course.
The west only awards things which show india only in a poor light.
Another slumdog millionaire situation.
They want to keep on believing india is a 3rd world country drowned in issues.
Why is focus not on Indias tremendous growth and achievements.
But of course that they won't focus on, because it doesn't fit their agenda.
And honestly Vir Das is one of the most boring and unfunny person there is.
