It stars Kumail Nanjiani who is a Pakistani-American actor portraying a Bollywood actor in the movie.

In this recent teaser he's shown performing a Bollywood dance number.

His character would most likely represent a glimpse of Bollywood and Indian culture.

A Pakistani representing India in a Hollywood movie would definitely not go well with Indians.

People had problem with an Indian actress playing the role of Kamala Khan because the character is Pakistani.

Shouldn't an Indian actor had played this role then?

Doubt it

Marvel content is not consumed by people who would throw fits over India-Pakistan. There might be minor hue cry - a middling twitter trend. But thats about it

When has Hollywood not been ignorant? Eternals was never a popular comic so I assume not many care just yet. Maybe once more people are paying attention? Marvel has made many changes to the characters as it is. Salma Hayek is playing a character that is actually male in the comics, Kumail is playing a character that is originally a samurai so has Japanese roots - he shouldn't have been a Bollywood star or Indian in the first place. The Eternals are an immortal, alien race so technically Kingo isn't even Indian or any ethnicity or even human really, he is simply an alien who became a Bollywood star to blend in and because he enjoys fame / attention.

Anyways, I will only be watching for Dong-seok/Don Lee and will wait till it's on Disney+.

Are you saying Pakistani actors shouldn't do Indian roles?

Preity Zinta played Zaara in Veer-Zaara.

Abhay Deol played Bilal Ahmed in Happy BHaag Jayegi.

Sushant Singh Rajput played Sarfaraz in PK.

These are all Indians who played Pakistanis on screen, so why would it be any problem?

My only qualm is that Marvel did not stick to the original storyline and seems to be diversifying for the sake of it. And also, there are a bunch of Indian actors who would suit the role much more than Kumail. Even Pakistan has some incredibly handsome and talented men who could've played this role.
