Chapter 94

Veer closed his eyes trying to think. There was more he knew about this.

“Veeranshu
” Bani was worried. “Listen, I don’t know ki tumhe yeh sabh kyu pata hai. But yeh kisi aur ko nahi pata ho sakta.”

“Bani, mujhe bhi honestly nahi pata ki mujhe kyu bataya gaya tha yeh sabh. All I know is that I had been told. Mujhe bataya tha ki kaise Garud ne Amrit ko Swarg se liya. Aakesh tha tab bhi bataya tha aur mere taajposhi ke baad bhi bataya tha. Several scrolls were given to him as the secrets of Cheel Rajkumar. The way Adi-Naagin was the secret keeper of Naaglok’s secrets, Cheel Rajkumar was the secret keeper to secret of the cheels. Veer had spent a long time in researching about them.

“I don’t know much but mujhe pata hai ki yahan se un cheezon ko lene ka sirf do hi raasta hai. Jo original raasta hai woh kisi bhi naag naagin ko nahi pata hai. We are told that the secret is only know Sheshnaag and Mata Kadru. Dursa raasta is definitely using blood magic. Because it is the most potent form of magic in Naagvansh. Sabhse asaan tareeka hai. Waise toh yeh saare rituals ban hai but secretly hote hai. Takshak Vansh and Nidhog vansh ke din hi inn saare jaadu se shuru hota hai. It is passed down as heirlooms to them. Isiliye Vanshika ko sabse zyaada pata in rituals ke baare mein. But I doubt even she knows this certain ritual.”

Veer and Bani both looked at each other. Bani pushed herself by the door to keep it from breaking apart. Using all her naagin strength to keep it together.

“Bani, doesn’t make sense. Matlab socho. Kadru had always wanted amrit. Even if she was remorseful ki unhone Garud ke saath galat kiya, isn’t immortality stronger? This is so logical, Bani. Kadru ko amrit chahiye tha kyuki unhone khud shraap diya tha ki kayi saare original naag ek sacrifice mein maare jaayenge. Gussa Thanda hua toh realize hua hoga ki unhone apne hi beton ki maut ka shraap diya hai. Use utla karne ka koi raasta hi nahi mil raha tha unhone. Toh sabse easy raasta unke dimaag mein aaya. Amrit. It is the eternal answer to immortality. Immortality mil jaayegi toh naagon ko kuch nahi hota. That is why she so desperately wanted amrit. Naagon ke liye. Iss sabh ke baad Sheshnaag kaise itni asaani se bata dete ki yahan amrit rakha hai. She used to live here, Bani. Remorse is powerful but motherly instincts are far more powerful than any guilt or remorse. Aur aisi konsi naagon ki shakti hai jo Kadru ke paas nahi hota?”

Bani looked at Veer. It made sense. Why would Sheshnaag risk it by using naagvansh’s magic. She was the progenitor of Naagvansh. Powerful enough that she could easily break even Sheshnaag’s strongest magic. So, if Kadru knew, it was clear that she cannot access it. So the bowl of amrit and the stone would be placed in two different places.

“Veeranshu, ek baar dhyaan se socho. Kuch toh tumhe bataya hoga. The only other way we have to save this ki. Hum yahan jo rakha hai use yahan se nikaale aur bahar jaaye. Nikhil aur Shukla ko dhundhne denge yahan aur khud dursi jagah chale jaayenge. Then once we get that as well, hum dono yahan se nikal jaayenge. Ek baar mandir ke bahar nikle toh Nikhil aur Shukla dono ko khatam kar sakte hai.”

“Bani, tumhe kyu lagta hai ki mujhe pata hoga?”

“Kyuki, Veeranshu, the only assurance that Sheshnaag could have that she would never get to amrit would be ki Sheshnaag ne Garud se kaha ki woh apna jaadu use kare yaha chupane ke liye. Naag Mandir mein rakha tha yeh baat Mata Kadru ko pata hi nahi tha. They used this place kyuki none of the naags would try and move the Shivling. Jab tak Bholenath yeh haq nahi dete kisi ko, tabh tak apni marzi se nahi hila sakte. Aur yahan Garud ke vansh se sirf tum ho.”

Veer took a deep breath and calmed himself down. He had to think. Something. There should be something. He racked through his brains for that. He tried to remember all that he had been told about this. There has to be something.

“Veeranshu, humare paas zyaada time nahi hai. In dono ko zyaada der tak nahi rok paaungi.” Bani told him.

“Haan. Soch raha hun.” Veer told her. “Come on, Veer. You can do this. Main Veeranshu Singhania hun. I can do this. I can definitely do this.”

Veer started touching the walls of the carvings. Somewhere around here, there should be something. When he touched the carving of Garud, he felt five grooves under the carving. The grooves were thin and sharp. Not quite for fingers. No humans could have such finger. Talons. The grooves were perfectly created for talons. Veer pulled out his talons and put them in the grooves. Sound of clicks and locks were heard. A sharp pointed stone pierced his palm a bit, drawing blood from it. After that. The wings and gold jewellery carved were filled with a golden light. A part of the carving of Sheshnaag fell revealed a carving like it was a snake skin cast. Part fell out so easily like it was a cover that hid the cast. A snake shed needed to be placed there.

“Bani, we need a snake shed.”

“Veeranshu, abhi kechuli kahan se laayenge. I’m way far from shredding. Saal mein sirf 4-5 baar hi kechuli badalti hai. I’ve shed a month ago. Abhi nahi shed kar sakti. All we can do to remove a patch of my actual snake skin.”

“Bani, pagal ho?”

“Veeranshu, tumhare paas aur koi rasta hai kya? Time nahi hai. I’d rather lose a patch of my skin than let them get hands on amrit or the stone inside there. Jaldi karo. Time waste kar rahe ho.”

“Bani, main
. This is illegal.”

“Right. As if tumne apni zindagi mein kuch illegal nahi kiya hai. Bakwaas mat karo.” Bani hissed at him angrily.

Bani changed into a half naagin and half human form. Veer took a deep breath and with a dagger cut a small patch of the snake skin from the tail. Bani winced in pain but stayed silent so she doesn’t alert Shukla and Nikhil outside.

“Sorry
” Veer apologized.

Veer put the patch of the skin on the cast carving. Every single groove of her skin matched perfectly with the cast as if it was actually her own snake skin’s cast. Blue and black patches on the red skin flashed proving her own descendance from Sheshnaag. As if it was signature to it, it was accepted. The whole carving scene moved. Veer moved back. The carving of the pot of amrit move inside the cave wall and brought out a leaf bowl.

Bani and Veer looked at each other.

The door moved more violently.

“Veeranshu jaldi karo. Time nahi hai humare paas.”

Veer looked at the liquid in the bowl with wide eyes. The infamous amrit. All his life he had only thought of it as a story or a myth. Now, before him it was real.

The hinges of the door began to creak. Bani started to panic. They were badly in trouble if Nikhil and Shukla got in. Bani turned into her Naagin form and blocked the way. There was no time to remove it. The door was already broken. Bani fell back with the force Shukla and Nikhil put. Nikhil jumped up to grab the leaf bowl but Veer was faster.

“Veer, use hume do. Koshish bhi mat karna.”

“Hmmm
what if main isse neeche gira dun? Zameen se chaatoge toh nahi. You need more then a few drops.” Veer threatened to drop. Bani’s eyes went as wide as a saucer.

“Veeranshu, pagal ho gaye ho? AIsa mat karo.” Bani too warned him. This wasn’t a game to her. She wasn’t asked to destroy it. No she was expected to protect it.

Shukla grabbed Bani and put a poisoned knife to her throat.

“Isse tumhari Bani bach nahi paayegi. Pehli hi apni choton ko theek karne mein kaafi energy kharch kar chuki hai. Is khanjar par giddhon ka zeher hai bachegi nahi Bani. Amrit humare hawale karo.” Shukla threatened.

“Bani ko chod do warna tum he bhi Amrit nahi milega. If that knife is pushed even a little closer to her, bhul jaao isse paana.” Veer warned.

“Tum humare hawale karo aur main Bani ko chod dunga.” Shukla brokered a deal.

Veer handed it to Shukla with one hand and Shukla pushed Bani to Veer.

“Yeh kya kiya tumne? Unhe kyu de diya?”

“Bani, shhshh
Ihne kuch pata nahi hai. Kuch nahi hoga.” Veer whispered to her. Bani was aware that the whisper was low but Shukla and Nikhil must have heard it. Bani looked into Veer’s eyes. No, Veer wasn’t someone who let himself be defeated this easy. She could see signs of the Veeranshu Singhania she had first met. The one who will do whatever it takes to win. He’s let the methods and morality go down to hell. Only result mattered to him.

“Kya bol rahe ho?” Bani asked in the same whisper.

“Bani, this is like thousands of years old. Satyug mein yahan rakha tha. Sedimentation occurs. Paani mein bhi sedimentation hota hai. This is Amrit. Not regular liquid. You know Amrit bana tha jab Samudra manthan hua tha, right? They had to churn it to make it potent. Aise hi pi nahi sakte. In dono idiots ko kuch pata hai nahi. Toh agar pi bhi liya toh koi asar nahi hoga.”

“Yahan rakha hua patthar dhundho, Nikhil. Hume uski zaroorat hai.” Shukla told Nikhil.

Bani and Veer looked at each other.

After a moment, one of the cave walls moved showing a downward staircase. It was a well. AN underground well which was connected to the underground water. At around 24 feet under, there was a door. Nikhil took the first step on the staircase and suddenly a large canal of water open up, vigorously flowing into the well.

“Sheshnaag ke phan ke patthar tak pohochna asaan nahi hai, Aakesh.” The old man told him. “Uss tak pohochne ke liye swayam ko siddh karna hota hai ki tum mein itni kshamta aur sahas hai. Garud ko bhi bohot saralta se amrit nahi mila. Par apne drid nishchay se kiya. Yeh sabh nidhiya hai, Aakesh. Nidhiyo ko prapt karne ke liye vijay ka sahas hona chahiye. Vijay use hi milti hai jo vijay ki aur agrasar hota hai bina ruk. Jismein yeh shaurya hai ki vijay ki daud mein aakhir tak bhaage. Jo beech mein hi haar kar baith jaaye, use toh vijay kabhi nahi milegi. Bhaagte rehna hota hai jeetne ke liye.”

“Aap keh rahe hai ki bohot saare jaal honge beech mein wahan pohochne ke liye?”

“Haan. Cheelon ki sabse badi kamzori paani hai. Nadi ke bhavar pehli baadha hai. Yeh iss baar ko jaanchne ke liye hai ki tum apni kamzori ko bhi kaise apni takat banate ho. Naag asaani se iss baadha ko paar kar sakte hai. Parantu cheelon ke liye asaan nahi hai. Paani se darte hai.”

“Toh paani mein tair kar hi aage badh sakte hai. Matlab ek ghanta tak cheelon ke shaktiya nahi hogi.”

“Haan. Bhagwaan kabhi kisi ko uss vyakti se sabse takatwar stithi mein uski pareeksha nahi lete. Pareeksha tab kehlaati hai jabh tumhe har kasauti par parkha jaaye.”

Veer started to remember it.

“Tumhara safar khatam.” Veer chuckled. “Iske aage tum jaane se rahe nahi. Maroge.”

Shukla and Nikhil walked back to talk about it. Veer looked at Bani.

“Roop badal sakti ho?” He asked her in such a low voice that it seemed that he was speaking to himself but he knew Bani could hear him. Bani looked at him quizzically. He signalled her to change herself to take his form.

“I’ll jump in first. Unhe lagega ki tum gayi ho.”

Bani was aware that it is almost impossible for Veer to swim in that water typhoon in the well. 24 feet below the water isn’t something Cheels can manage. There an amount of water pressure. Not to mention, the water was twirling as a typhoon. To swim down is almost impossible for a cheel. They’re not equipped to hold their breath for that long. Snakes could inherently manage swimming that deep. She grabbed his hand.

“Bas trust me. I know what I’m doing. Veeranshu Singhania haar jaaye, yeh mujhe bardaash nahi hai. Failure is not an option. It is fight till you succeed. Maut bhi beech mein nahi aa sakti hai mere. Tumhe paana chahta tha. Maut bhi beech mein nahi aa saki. Tumhe paane ke liye phir se janam liya. Haarna possible is nahi hai.”

Bani saw that familiar determination in him. Like slowly, she was getting back her old Veer. His confidence, his determination and his habit of always being the one to win. Bani turned to look at them. They were busy with the amrit. She quickly took his form. Veer jumped in the water. When they heard the splash, they turned around and ran towards the well.

“Naagin
Naagin andar chali gaayi hai!!!” Nikhil shouted.

“Ise paar karna kisi bhi Cheel ke bas ki baat nahi hai. Naagon ke mandir mein cheelon ki kya majal hai. Bani Naagin hai aur pani unki takat hai.” Bani tried to fool them.

“Shit!!!” Nikhil exclaimed.

“Dekho na hi jaao tairne toh better hoga kyuki neeche kuch 24 feet par darwaza hai. Wahan tak tairna cheelon ki bass ki baat nahi.” She added.

“Koi zaroorat nahi hai jaane ki. At some point, she will come back. Tabh dekh lenge. Pehle tum hume yeh bataoge ki amrit ko kaise pina hai.” Nikhil tried to threaten with a dagger.

Veer kept swimming. He could feel the oxygen being used up. His lungs were hurting. He was using the residual oxygen in his lungs. There just a few while before the lungs will collapse from the lack of oxygen and he’d drown. His muscled ached from the lack of oxygen, almost giving up. Typhoon was violently twirling around.

Veer continued swim down.

‘Main Veeranshu Singhania hun, impossible ko bhi possible karna hi Veeranshu Singhania hai. I have to do this. I will do this.’

Veer continued with the determination. It was a test if her could keep going. Veer had 5 minutes before the lack of oxygen will lead to brain damage. Every cell of his body started to reel from the lack of oxygen. His eyes began to close. His brain flashed him the memory of him playing with his mother, Tapish, Daksh and Sam. Sam was still a little baby then. Veer was 4 years old. Veer climbed up in Sam’s crib and slept next to him because baby Sam wouldn’t stop crying. He was getting scared of the lightning. Veer slept in the crib so his baby brother wouldn’t feel a lot scared. Veer had always felt a powerful surge of happiness every time his baby brother grabbed his finger. Veer’s own hands were small but the baby’s hands were so tiny. Balwant and walked in and started to talk about something loudly.

“Sshhhh
dad, baby so raha hai. Shhhshh
.” Veer told his father. Balwant was confused as to why his four year old son was sleeping in his cousin’s crib but decided not to say anything. “Kuch nahi, baby. Kuch nahi. Main yahin hum. Tumhe kuch nahi hoga.”

A baby Sam slept peacefully why snuggling with Veer in the crib. Veer didn’t care that it was comparatively small for a four year old.

His brain then flashed the first time ever he flew. At 7, he had learnt how to fly. He missed that he never got his mother to see his first flight but was still happy. Then the memory of him flying with Sam. Sam and him would always zoom around the house in their cheel form. At the age of 6 and 8 respectively, the two were the size of a Peregrine Falcon. They’d zoom around the house, often annoying both their fathers.

The next memory was that of the trip they gone together. All the seven brothers together. Tapish, Veer, Teer, Daksh, Sam, Monil and Ponky.

Then the memory of him seeing Bani for the first time. His heart went so fast when his eyes froze at the sight of her. The very reason he had even been born. Their first kiss. The time he and Bani had completed became each other’s. When every boundary between them had fallen. The time she confessed that she was in love with him. When she had given him the ring, asking him to stay with her. Their dance together.

“Veeranshu, khud se zyaada yakeen tum par hai mujhe.” Veer remembered the Bani had told him.

“Veer bhai, aap toh mere hero hai. The point is, I know that even if the situation is dire, you’ll always find a way. Aapke liye toh jaan bhi haazir hai.” He remembered Sam telling.

His will power knocked him in his head hard to wake him up. No, he couldn’t afford to let down Bani and Sam. He could let down the entire world, even Gods themselves but he couldn’t let down the love of his life and his dearest younger brother.

Veer grabbed the staircase and kept using it to help himself down. Finally, he caught the door. Using up the last of his strength, he pulled the door. Veer managed to somehow get himself inside. The pressure of water was high with the typhoon twirling. Veer pushed the door, closing it but the moment he was done, Veer collapsed from exhaustion. His lungs heavily breathing. He felt like there was no energy in him. Every inch of him was screaming from the pain of the lactic acid production in the muscles. His muscles felt numb. Like he couldn’t even move at all.

Before him was a fiery blaze. Like a whole maze of flame throwers releasing a whole blaze of fire at the same time. The flame throwers were set alternatively on the two sides of the tunnel. The tunnel was almost 10 feet in length. They would flame the whole place every 10 seconds. Veer knew it was impossible to cross it like that.

Veer leaned up against the door and watched the scene of blazing fire. Veer noted after several minutes that it wasn’t just simply fire, three balls of fire attached together that would go through the alternate holes. Like that every four holes would have three balls of fire set together. At a mid point, all the balls would be in the same line together. That would be for just a second.

“Aakesh, sansaar mein 4 tatv hote hai. Jal, Agni, Vayu aur Prithvi. In chaaron tatvo ke indrajaal ko paar karna hota hai. Pehli baadha toh jal hai. Jise tum paar karoge tair ke. Dursi baadha agni hai. Har shikari ko 2 baatein bohot pehle hi sikha diya jaata hai. Samay aur antaraal. Pehle cheel apne shikaar ko pehchaanta hai. Kabh uski or badhna hai. Phir kabh apne panje kholne hai aur kabh phir se upar ki or udna hai. Inn teeno mein samay aur antral ka mehetv hota hai. Agar yeh sahi tarah se nahi nirnay kiya toh shikaar chut sakta hai. Isi tarah iss badha ko bhi paar karna hai. Soch ke. Pehli baadha tumhare nishchay ko parakhta hai. Kya itni kshamta hai ki tum haar na maano aura age badhte raho. Dursi baadha tumhare dheeraj ko parakhta hai.”

Veer took a deep breath. There was right water right outside the door. He had to find the exact time at which he has to open the door and let water in. The balls of fire have to be in the same line. Then the water would extinguish the fire. He also had to close the door at the right time so that he doesn’t flood the place entirely.

Chapter 95

Veer opened the door and his eyes caught the blurry of a figure in the water that rushed inside. When it recognized it as a large red flashy snake, Veer grabbed it. If he didn’t catch her at the right time, she would have had burns from the fire. Water had pushed her in first, gushing in behind her. The snake coiled itself to his hand so she didn’t flow off with the water’s flow. The water clashed with fire and there was a lot of steam that was formed when the fire and water met. The fire made some of the water into steam and rest of the water extinguished it.

Veer pushed the door at the moment, Bani quickly changing to her human form, helped Veer. They closed it successfully. Veer fell down from exhaustion. He was wet, exhausted and almost on the verge of passing out from such low energy.

“Veeranshu
” Bani held him. He took a few deep breaths.

“Tum yahan kaise? Nikhil aur Shukla?”

“Unhe bewakoof bana ke nikal aayi. Unhe kaha ki dusra raasta hai uss patthar tak pohochne ke. Wahan unhe bhej kar, yahan se aa gayi. Jiss raaste se hum aaye, uss raaste se unhe bheja aur jaldi se yahan aayi. Surprising baat hai you even managed to hold your breath for 15 minutes. You’ve outdone yourself with this swimming.” Bani smiled at him. Veer chuckled.

“Ek point pe mujhe bhi laga ki khatam main marne waala hun yahi paani mein. I kept trying but I felt like this was dead end. Itni energy hi nahi mili ki continue kar paau. Phir tumhare baare mein socha. Tumne mujhpe yakeen kiya, couldn’t let you down. Bas. Some how it gave me the strength to reach here.”

Bani smiled at him and kissed his cheek.

“Mujhe na sach mein lagta hai ki hum dono ko aadhi aadhi cheezein batayi hai. Jaise mujhe yeh raaz bataya tha ki yeh amrit aur yeh patthar yahan Lal Tekdi Mandir mein hai aur uska entrance chamber kahan se hai. Mujhe sirf uss pichle chamber tak ka pata tha. Kaise us locker ko kholna hai ya agle chamber tak kaise pohochna hai yeh nahi pata tha. I know there are traps but have no idea what they were supposed to be. Tumhe nahi pata tha ki exactly kahan but traps aur lockers ke baare mein pata. Mujhe yeh pata hai ki exactly next chamber mein kya aur kahan rakha hai but no idea how to cross this.”

Veer smiled.

“Because hum dono ek hi hai, Bani. We were always expected to come together. Shayad destiny thi ki hum dono ek dusre ke bane.” Veer said. “That said, I’m almost done. Mujhe pata nahi main aur kitna aage chal paauga because I’m super exhausted.”

“Veeranshu, suno. The chamber jahan patthar rakha hai, it has the world’s most potent potions. Har ek cheez ki dawa hai. The most potent anti-venoms. Shayad mere zeher ka bhi wahan anti-venom hai. I know ki wahan you’ll get the potion which will help you with energy. Toh bas thoda sa aur.”

Bani offered him her hand. They’d do this together. Veer sighed and took her hand. Bani supported him and they crossed the fire maze. There was a little water on the floor of the tunnel. It came till their ankles.

“My shoes are ruined. So badly ruined. We both look terrible like this. Tumne wahi shaadi ka lehenga pehna hai aur main yahan shaadi ka kurta aur pajama pehna hai.”

“Veeranshu, kapde zyaada important hai kya?”

“Bani, just imagine. Hum dono jeet ke bahar niklenge and then we’ll look like this. Kitna embarrassing hoga. Matlab Veeranshu Singhania kabhi out of form nahi dikhta hai. Hot dikhna mera kaam hai.”

Bani rolled her eyes at her husband but the smile formed on her lips. Her Veeranshu Singhania was back.

They reached the end of the tunnel and saw that the balls of fire worked as a bridge. The water that came in washed in the moat and balls fell into place like bridges. The two crossed it carefully. One they crossed it, there was a powerful surge of wind. Veer was so familiar with that kind of wind. The storm. The air was so powerful. A smile came to his lips. The feel of such strong wind. He almost missed it.

“Veeranshu, what is that supposed to be?” Bani asked. Large birds, the kind that Bani had never seen.

“Their wings are causing this kind of stormy wind. Warna it would be a simple breeze.” Veer answered. His eyes widened in wonder. It was similar to the birds that lived around the temple of Narayan. Only, they were larger than those small songbirds and were stronger and had sharper talons and beaks. Definitely more aggressive. Radiant blue, red and yellow colours on their feathers.

Veer tried to speak to them. They attacked Bani and Veer with talons first.

“Veeranshu!!” Bani exclaimed. Veer pulled her behind him.

“Why aren’t they listening to me? They should have understood what I’m saying.”

They were about to attack Bani, Veer protected her and the talons gashed his shoulder.

“Aaahhh
” He exclaimed. Veer tried to think. If these birds cannot understand him them what else to calm them down?

Veer then whistled the tune he always whistles. At first the bird flew towards them aggressively but when the tune reached them, the birds calmed down. They were larger than regular Golden eagles. Just a little smaller than Veer’s own eagle form. Veer’s own eagle form was just a few inches larger than crowned eagles. As they grow older, their size can reach to regular Vultures.

Slowly the birds flew down calmly to Veer. They softly nipped on Veer’s nose, carefully. Regardless, they still screeched at Bani.

“Haan, theek hai. Mujhe tum kuch khaas pasand nahi ho.” Bani humped. Veer laughed at that. As if the bird at fallen in love with Veer’s laughter, it flapped it wings happily. The talons scratched him a bit but he didn’t complain. Bani gave him her own dupatta. The flew up, realized what was supposed to happen. She wrapped it around his arm and the bird sat on his arm. There were just two of their kind in there. The other sat on Veer’s shoulder.

A while later, they managed to cross the tunnel proceeded further. The final one. Even the birds looked in confusion. They too wondered how will they manage to cross this one. There was a large maze. The walls of the maze reached till the roof.

The entered the maze. Bani could sense the difference in the temperature. She stopped Veer who was trying to find a way through the maze. She picked up on the temperature difference and moved through the maze. Veer just watched her with surprised. The way she walked through the maze like she had always known the way through the maze. Veer followed her. A few minutes past it and they reached a room.

Pillars in the room had carvings of snakes. Shelves carved out from cave walls held some liquids. Almost the whole room had it. Veer picked up one of the vials. His cheel senses were activated. The scent of snake so strong that his eyes turned golden involuntarily as an animalistic reaction.

“Snake venom?” He asked Bani.

“Duniya ka aisa koi saanp nahi hai jiska kaat yahan nahi hai. Aisa koi naag naagin nahi jiske zeher ka kaat nahi. Mere zeher sabse zyaada khatarnaak hai. Usually, venom can be used as counter to another kind of venoms par mera zeher hi itna complex hai ki uska anti-venom kisi ke paas nahi hai but yaha hai.”

“Pagal hi ho jaayega koi yahan zeher ka kaat dhundhte dhundhte.” Veer commented seeing how many vials and flasks were kept. It would take an expert to find their way through it.

“That is the point. Jise pata hai iske baar mein sirf vahi bata sakta hai.”

Veer and Bani instantly got to work, looking for the stone. Bani touched the pillar looking for the stone. With her touch, the pillars started to light up with some fluorescent light of their own. When each of the pillar was lit up, from the center of the room, a large circular table appeared. It was a small in its radius. The same radius as that of the pillars. In a small holder was a stone.

Bani and Veer looked at each other and then at the stone.

Naagmani was like a diamond, colourless. This stone was beautiful blue and green. It was almost smooth unlike Naagmani and Gandhak Patthar. It had a glow of its own. Naagmani reflected light that entered it but this stone had a light of its own. Bioluminescence. The blue green stone was beautiful. The two colours didn’t mix but made patterns.

“I think the people who had seen Sheshnaag must have mistake this stone for earth. Tabhi aisa kaha hoga ki kehte hai Sheshnaag ke phan par earth hai.” Veer commented.

“Then it should be brownish, na?”

“Haan but there were far more plantations and forests pehle na. Now there are very less of them.”

Bani moved to touch the stone when they heard claps. Nikhil and Shukla showed up. Nikhil has a sharp grin on his face.

“How the hell did they get here?” Bani asked. The amrit was still in their hand in the leaf bowl. Shukla was handling it with such fragile hand so it doesn’t break apart and waste the liquid of immortality.

“Accha bewakoof banaya tumne, naagin, par main bhi Nikhil hun. Nikhil Parikshit.” Nikhil laughed at the couple. “Tum dono ne hume seedha khazane tak ka raasta dikha diya. Saare raaste tumne itni mehnat se paar kiya taaki hume asaani ho.”

Veer laughed. A grin on his face.

“For someone who has known me since my childhood, tumhari yaaddash bohot kharab hai, Parikshit. Jab tak Veer Singhania saans le raha hai tabh tak baazi uske haath se gayi nahi hoti.” Veer reminded him. “Markaat ko hara sakta hun toh tum dono idiots kya cheez ho.”

“Lagta hai sadma laga hai tumhe Veeranshu. Haar gaye ho. Mere paas abh dono hai. Tum dono ko yahi maar ke main saare cheelon ka raja ban jaaunga. Uske baad naag naagin bhi mere pairon ke joote ban sakte hai.”

“Try kar sakte ho but tumhe PETA waale life time imprisonment de denge. Trading snake skin is considered illegal. Uske joote banaoge toh khud bhi jail jaaoge.”

“Veeranshu
.” Bani shoved him. He laughed.

“Kya? Honestly.”

“Bakwaas mat karo aur yeh socho ki inn dono ki chhutti kaise karna hai.” Bani told him.

Both Bani and Veer started fighting Shukla and Nikhil. Shukla placed the bowl next to the stone. Veer and Nikhil were fighting each other. Bani was tied to the rules that she couldn’t kill them inside this temple. Kadru had herself made this rule when she installed the Shivling here. She had made a rule that no naag naagin would ever kill in this temple.

Veer and Nikhil fought. Shukla kicked Bani against the pilled. She got injuries. She was already trying to heal major injuries which was making it difficult for her heal all the injuries. Even with her speed of healing, Nikhil had injured some major organs. Healing them was a task not quickly finished. On top of it, there were more and more injuries. The exit door opened after a moment. They didn’t have to got back the way they came in to leave the temple.

Nikhil threw Veer off. Veer fell on top of Bani.

“Aaahhh
” She winced. Shukla and Nikhil picked up the stone and the bowl and climbed up the stairs.

Bani was instantly about to catch them but Veer stopped her.

“Patient, Bani, patient. Shikaar sahi time pe karna chahiye. Yahan mandir ke andar nahi maar sakte dono ko. But if we wait for them to leave the temple, we can just kill them off and retain the things.”

“Amrit mandir ke andar hi pi liya toh?” Bani asked.

“Do you know devtaon ne amrit ko asuro se kaise bachaya?”

“Of course, pata hai. Sabhko pata hai. Narayan ne Mohini roop liya aur amrit devtao mein baant diya.”

“The important point is Narayan ne asuro ko bewakoof banaya by distracting by something that could distract them. We’ll do the same.”

Veer got up and helped Bani. Veer whistled and the two birds flew. Climbing up that stairs, they reached the Lal Tekdi Mandir. Veer whistled. A whole group of birds flew in. They started chaos around Shukla and Nikhil.

“Veeranshu, inhe nikaalo yahan se warna accha nahi hoga tumhare liye.”

Shukla tried to concentrate of saving amrit. One of the birds they came across inside the tunnel grabbed the stone and started flying off. Nikhil in response turned into his eagle form and followed the birds.

“Veer bhai!!” Sam showed up. He was injured a bit but the Parikshits seemed more beaten up. The Parikshits followed Nikhil.

“Nikhil, pagal mat bano. Tumhare haath Khazana laga hai use abhi pi lo aur khatam karo.” Reyansh shouted at Nikhil.

“Papa, ise peene ka koi ritual hai. Bina uske agar peeyenge toh koi asar nahi hoga.” Nikhil exclaimed.

“Idiot, amrit hai koi cocktail nahi ki mix karna hai aur sirf chakne ke saath peena hai. Isne bewakoof banaya hai. Exactly usi tarah jaise Garud ne Naagon ko bewakoof banaya tha.” Reyansh answered.

Nikhil took the amrit.

“Nahii!!!” Bani tried to dash for it. Nikhil realized the trickery and drank it.

“Hum dono baantne waale the
” Shukla shouted at Nikhil. Nikhil laughed.

“Jo kisi ka wafadar nahi uspar main kaise yakeen kar lun? Singhanias ne itne saal tumhe kitna kuch diya tha uske baad bhi tumne unhe dhoka diya. Main nahi chahta ki mujhe dhoka dene ka mauka kisi ko bhi dun.”

Bani’s temper rose. The whole temple started shaking. Bani kicked Nikhil so hard that he crashed right through the door of the temple. He fell off the stairs of the temple and tumbled down. The Parikshits tried to come in and attack Bani but her rage was so fearing.

Reyansh had only heard of Kali’s rage but right then, in Bani’s eyes, he could feel that chaos and pure energy that resonates the Goddess. Not even the whole group of birds flying around scared Bani. Bani grabbed his throat.

“Bohot shauk hai na naagon se mukabla karne ka? Aao. Main dikhati hun ki Adi-Naagin kya hai.”

Bani turned into a large 26 foot long cobra. Her red scales flashing some stripes of black and blue. She easily kicked the Parikshits off the temple one by one. The moment they fell outside the temple, Bani’s rage overflowed. She constricted her coils tightly around Sahaan and bit Vikram. It took fifteen minutes and Vikram fell dead to the venom. With every breath that Sahaan took, Bani’s coiled tightened around him. The cracking of bones could be heard.

The bird flew down and passed the stone to Veer. Veer caught it.

“Abh accha hoga ki tum use mujhe de do, Veeranshu.” Nikhil told him. “Main amar hun. Abh tum kuch bhi kar lo, main nahi marunga.”

Sam threw Veer a dagger. Veer caught it and stabbed it right through Shukla’s heart.

“Mere bhai ki jaan li hai. Teer bhai ko tune maara aur uske baad Monil ki jaan le li. Uska hisaab bhi tujhe hi dena hai. Veer Singhania ek galti sirf ek baar maaf karta hai. Ek baar dhoka diya use shayad bhul bhi jaata par tune phir se wahi galti ki hai.”

Veer pulled out the knife and Shukla fell down.

“Tu mujhe nahi hara sakta, Veeranshu.” Nikhil told him. Bani felt like she had failed at protecting what she was supposed to protect. Angrily, she kicked on one of the pillars at the end of the stair. It fell down and cracked. The ground shook to her anger.

“Bani
” Veer held her hand to calm her down.

“Meri zimmedari thi, Veeranshu. Aur main nahi rok paayi.” Bani felt so angrily.

“Sweetheart, tumhara pati Veer Singhania. Kabhi suna hai ki Veer haar gaya?”

“Really? Usne abhi abhi humare saane use peeya hai. We’re lost.”

Veer winked at Bani.

“Remember tumse pucha tha ki amrit asuron se kaise bachaya tha?”

“Haan. Pata hai mujhe, Veeranshu, but none of it worked. Hum dono mein se koi bhi Narayan nahi hai.”

“Gharwali, agar har cheez ke liye hume Bhagwaan par nirbhar karna pade toh it is a waste to ever be born human.” Veer passed her the stone and a vial.

“Yeh kya hai?”

Veer grinned.

“Kaha tha. Narayan ne asuro ka dhyaan bhatkaya important cheez se. Usmein amrit tha hi nahi.”

“What?!!” Bani and Nikhil exclaimed together in shock. “Us bowl mein zeher tha. Jo Nikhil ne piya.”

Nikhil fell down. He could feel his lungs giving up. The venom had begun to block respiratory system from working properly. Veer walked up to Nikhil and kneeled before him.

“Main aaj bhi Veer Singhania hun. Saare icchadhari cheel aur giddh ko yeh pata hai ki Veer Singhania ke saamne khade hone ka matlab apni shamat bulana. Main thoda sa acche se bartaav kya karne laga tum sabhne ise open ground samajh liya mujhe challenge karne ke liye? If you’re smart, I can be oversmart. Tum abhi oversmartness dikhaoge then I’ll tear your wits apart from you. Mujhe jo darte hai, uski wajah aaj bhi kaayam hai. I might loose my wings but I have my talons and my strength. Mere pankh mujhse cheen liye tune. Par bhul gaye ki main Veeranshu Singhania hun. Mere ishaare pe asamaan bhi jhukta hai. Tu kya cheez hai. Tu sirf cheel hai but I’m the whole damn sky. Asmaan mein rehne waalon ko asmaan se panga nahi lena chahiye.”

The last face that Nikhil saw while dying from the poison was Veer. Veer grinned.

“Ek minute
 yeh
” Bani was confused. Sam laughed. He almost fell down laughing.

“Veer bhai, welcome back. Humare Veer bhai wapas aa gaye hai.” Sam exclaimed.

“Jab hum uss surang se nikal rahe the tabh usmein se do vial maine nikaale tha. Jab saare panchi aaye mandir mein. Tabh Shukla aur Nikhil dono unhe hataane mein lage the. Nikhil uss patthar ke peeche gaya. Shukla baaki se deal kar raha tha. Tab empty vial mein amrit daala aur bowl mein zeher replace kar diya.” Veer explained to her. They walked back into the temple. Bani put the stone and the vial back in their places. She returned with a smile.

“Mujhe bhi pata nahi chala ki tumne yeh sabh kabh kiya
” Bani was surprised.

“Impossible ko possible karna hi-” Veer stopped in mid-sentence.

After a period of such a long time, Veer felt that his back was heavier than usual. A weight that he would often think of in his dreams. A smile came to his face that was nothing less than the expression of a devotee seeing his beloved God. Veer fell down to his knees. Tears fell down his face.

He felt his wings. The weight of his wings. He closed his eyes and fluttered open his wings. Bani and Sam looked shocked. After a second, it changed to the greatest happiness.

“Veeranshu
 tumhare pankh
” Bani exclaimed.

Veer opened his eyes and saw the wings. He touched them so softly as if he was dreaming about it. When he fingers felt the feathers, he laughed. He moved the wings and they moved. He tried to flutter them. It was as if he had never lost them in the first place.
