LOL dude, the Indian constitution was literally amended to add in references to socialism. India is considered an economically socialist country by almost all global standards. Plus, even our right-wing political parties fiscally lean towards socialism.
IDK what 'true socialism' you're talking about (may be thinking of communist countries like China, confusing Norway/Denmark's market capitalism with socialism, or are calling no true scotsman to just defend it)
Anyway.. India is far far away from capitalism. We might love an Ambani for his rags to riches story. But businesses are punished at every step by our economic policies & every step towards progress of protested against.
Before Karan Johar started making movies, almost every other movie romanticised poverty & showed the rich in poor light (villain in action-drama movies, dysfunctional comic relief in comic movies). Barjatya's & Yash Chopra have been those very few old-time filmmakers who didn't use wealth & vanity as negative traits. Watch ITV even today.. Every other show has a poorer, morally upright lead whose job is to 'correct' the rich, messed up lead & their family.

Ambani sucks.
Also, I see a ton of ITV shows that show outlandishly rich families. Tons of Bollywood movies too
You might side with farmers or not. Hate Ambani or not. India is still socialist. By every standard of measurement. No economist or sociologist worth his/her salt has ever said that 'India loves capitalism' or that India is a capitalism hybrid. Because it isn't by a far shot.
Indian entertainment industry having major socialism influence has been a popular topic of geopolitical analysis since decades. From Russia to Azerbaijan to Italy, it was socialist messages that drove Hindi movies' popularity in those countries. Only in late 90s & early 2000s, with the rise of Karan Johar, did Hindi movies become as popular in capitalist areas like UK, US, Western Europe, etc. One movie/show not demeaning outlandishly rich families, against 10 that do in favour of romanticised poverty, isn't much.

Ah, perhaps you're right after all and my definitions of the terms are skewed/mixed up. Thanks for the info!
Also, I do support the farmers haha, completely and wholeheartedly. ✊
