other than the few idiots that India has, most other people are happy with modi for cutting the fatcat middlemen and the phony khalistani type farmers out

Obviously no. Other than some rich farmer cum middlemen from Punjab, Haryana, and some from Western UP and Rajasthan no one else are protesting against the farmers bills. Many states don't have APMC and farmers don't get to sell their crops to the govt at MSP, they have to depend on local markets and middlemen to sell their crops, for them these laws are a boon. Farmers from Punjab and Haryana have benefitted disproportionately from MSP, subsidised fertilisers, and various other govt. subsidies or grants compared to farmers from other states. Many farmers from other states are already doing contract farming for corporate clients, these laws will strengthen their cause.

There is need for much more private investment in agro based industries.

We need that investment to modernise farming, to have better yield.

We also need modern technology to produce various kinds of crop in the same amount of land. Currently farmers benefiting from MSP, produce only rice and wheat which drives the water table lower. As corporate buyers come in and ask for different types of crops at good price, farmers will be motivated to diversify their crops, which will stop over exploitation of water resources.

The combination of above two (of better yield and diversified crops) will also give us power to export more and at the same time cut down on imports of exotic produce.

As our yield increases, it will also ensure that we won't need to clear forest land for farming.

We also need private investment to develop storage facilities and agro processing industries, as currently a lack of adequate storage facility and agro processing units means a lot of crops produced in our country goes to waste.

With proper infrastructure and because of the freedom accorded by these laws, farmers can sell their produce to any part of the country where they are getting best price or they can sell directly to agro processing industries or they can sell to exporters. More options for them means higher earning potential.

Moreover, because of better storage facility and selling across the nation, there can be more uniform distribution of agri products across regions and seasons, and better stability in prices.

Another reason why these protests won't have any impact on the election prospects of the govt., because this is just the beginning of 2021 and elections are more than 3 years away. Even the few regions protesting right now, will mostly forget about it by the time election arrives in 2024.

Ofcourse not. BJP is too strong to be taken down by protests just yet

They might be impacted in Punjab, Haryana though.

The reason we became self sufficient as a nation was because of the farmers of these states. UP, Bihar do not have MSP and the farmers there are the poorest and in the worst state. The states with MSP by far have wealthier farmers.

History has it that corporatization of farming has only impacted the farming and worsened the conditions of farmers. Please google up farmer suicides in US and Europe (Spain recently).

While farming needs to be modernized as you said, leaving the farmers at the behest of corporates is only going to benefit the corporates and not the farmers. Because corporates will focus on profit making and eventually only pay for crops that sell at a higher. Water table, soil quality, etc is of no concern for them.

There are many good points in the bills, no doubt. But disabling APMC and getting rid of MSP (for all practical purposes) is just not going to cut it in the current setup. You can do reforms on a broken system without revamping it. Its like putting a tape on a wound - its not going to heal, but it sure as hell will hide it for some time
