Also, if what you said were true, isn't that whole point? To stop people from dying? We can't stop people from getting sick for eternity. So what would be the solution? Lockdown for eternity to prevent corona, flu, plague, cholera, measles, mumps, rubella? Because none of the vaccines (if available) are 100% preventive?

Yes, we need to deal with corona, but let's not make the treatment worse than the cure.

Corona is not a simple virus like measles, mumps etc its a pandemic

last pandemic came in 13th century bubonic plague in which 10 to 20 crore or more lost life

after that next big pandemic is corona in 2020 which has affected 220 countries

stop comparing it to small pox, measles, mumps they all never came in full world only small clusters and are not so deadly or infectious as a corona

I am not saying stop life for ever i said till vaccine is given to all stop unnecessary activity as it will endanger life of those around

film viewing is not an essential activity people can live without theatres, malls, tv, radio, sports, serials etc if you ask any doctor they will say same thing

Yes vaccine has 90% effectiveness they are claiming

but research not done to prove it its released in urgency

research on impact of vaccine takes 10 to 12 years who and major scientist told this only

till than we cannot assume vaccine has 90% effectiveness at all

on aged and co morbid it may not work even 90% research must for years to know that which has not be done

in israel people who took 2-3 doses vaccine got corona google it

Thats why scientist has told take vaccine still wear mask, gloves and keep 6 feet distance and avoid going out other than urgent things

There is no cure for corona even those who survive will have long term issues lung damage, nerve damage, kidney damage in various proportions whether you are 35 years or 80 years old

So lets stop assuming that 20,30, 40 year olds are ok and can roam around only those above 60 have to bother or care for their safety

This attitude gives false sense of nothing will happen and make people behave careless like not wearing mask, full occupancy in theatres etc and endanger lives

people will roam around and may not die but they will kill others in neighbourhood or office place or college etc

other virus vacine may not be 100% effective only 95 or98% but no other virus is as deadly and infectious as corona for past 700 years after plague

also when we finally count number dead etc after 20-30 years the nos may be in crores (like they did for plague) only unlike 20-30 lakh that uno saying now. Because not all countries are USA that keeps count of sick and dead and records it. Even USA has failed to count properly the dead in corona with such great medical system. UN only saying this is records not real nos

So better be safe

Dear God. What are you suggesting? Lock up for 10-12 years until we know vaccine efficacy in the long term? Humans will die of mental illness in the time. Not to mention crashing economy, lost jobs, starvation.

Germs are going to continue to exist as long as there is life on the planet. You're likely not going to get rid of corona. EVER. If the vaccine prevents deaths, that is enough to lift lockdowns. Even the WHO has recommended it.

More than 700 plus doctors died due to Corona in India since it began. All the healthcare workers are overworked and are succumbing in large numbers fast due to the sheer numbers of patients. There will be more medical slip ups and heaven forbid we run out of hospital beds. There is no cure for Corona and even those who survive have to suffer long-term damage. Against all this, a little social distancing, wearing a mask and avoiding large crowds(such as theatres) doesn't seem to be asking much. Nobody wants another lockdown. And yes, it's going to be a long war with the virus mutating every year and having to be vaccinated annually. We'll all have to adjust to the new normal. No use complaining.

Cynical, fatalistic attitude will not help. People who depend upon theatres for their livelihoods are also human-beings, just like healthcare workers are.

Entertainment is maybe entertainment to us but for some, it's a form of employment. If one wears masks and practices safe hygiene, theatres are as safe as restaurants, malls etc.

There is a difference between healthcare workers who have to bear the consequences of risks taken by other people and the theatre going public who willingly take risks. Wearing a mask or gloves, sanitisation  is not 100% protection. Social distancing, avoiding  restaurents, malls, theatres, weddings or any other optional recreational actitvity where large crowds are assembled adds another layer of protection. Wherever the air is circulated and closed off is at risk.

This is factually incorrect. Corona death rates have actually been falling. WHO and CDC numbers prove it.

https://covid19.who.int/

The whole point is to prevent death and disability, not cases. Germs are never going to disappear for anyone to be 100% safe from ever catching any. The idea was only to flatten the curve which means same number of cses spread over time. this has been achieved. The idea was never to crush the curve.

Will there be spikes? Possibly. Then there will be brief lockdowns again. There is such a thing as balance between paranoid isolation and careless, callous free-for-all.

And yes, closing down all contained spaces *is* too much to ask (not talking about masks or staying clean). Because people who depend on such spaces have to eat, kids have to be educated, etc. etc. Elitist blinkers make people imagine stringent lockdowns are a good answer. As long as of course the *essential* workers continue working: the domestic help, the babysitters, the delivery people, the restaurant workers, the truck drivers, the healthcare workers. The people who take risk on behalf of the lockdown virtue signallers. Can't afford all this and have to do it yourself? Let them eat cake!
