Real answer is all the things you posted combined needs to be maintained. Even then its tough. An I'm honestly not saying that to be mean its just the way Bollywood world is 😳 The Change is slow

In general, most actresses rely on the strategic mix of all other options, and which is where the problem begins.

If anything, I think Vidya Balan has proven that you don't have to be a certain "type" of heroine to be successful.

She never had her career curated, never part of any club, worked with different directors, never relied on any particular pairing with a co-star, never relied on off-screen controversies, never relied on just working with Khans, never cared about the number game, never part of any race .... AND all of that purely based on her talent.

Yes. She has played love interests BUT her characters were never 'flowerpots' or just love-interests to prop up the heroes. And that's been her since first film, Parineeta.

Even in films like Lage Raho Munnabhai, Hey Baby etc ... her characters were well layered, and weren't just props.

She also has done A LOT of exciting, re-invention & different stuff with Paa, Kahani, Bobby Jaasoos, The Dirty Picture, Ishqiya, Tumharu Sulu, Misson Mangal, Shakuntala Devi etc.

She is a successful actress in her own right.

Taapsee took a while to understand this, but now she's doing films on her own terms.

Anubhav Sinha could be called her "curator", but I think it's more to do with her being talented and credible than anything else.
