Bollywood has spoken, because Modi selfies aren’t really helping - Page 3

Maybe you can campaign to Kareena, Priyanka, Deepika and Sara Ali Khan to make them speak about Dalit murders.

Discrimination of any type shouldn't be a political issue but that is the reality. We don't live in an ideal world. Speaking about Dalit deaths in any state will have the entire political machinery of that state and even the central government gunning for whoever speaks out. Then filthy anchors like Arnab will spend days attacking the celeb and incite boycotts and hatred. Nobody speaks up when their livelihood is threatened. There is no comparison here with HW celebs the way you kept doing.

also who said Hollywood celebs have complete freedom ?? John boyega literally said he knows he will be boycotted for talking about blm but he will do it ..

so no white celebs may be safe but poc celebs ? No .. does that stop them from using their platform? No

bollywood celebs are always caught up in one scandal or another but they can’t speak up about human rights cos they will be targeted by media and they don’t want that ?? Yaa sure

Actors and actresses can have personal opinions like everyone does BUT they should NOT be taken as the maximum authorities on anything that is not their field of expertise, it is wrong of the public to expect them to be everything to everyone, as if the characters they play magically turns them into experts.  Just because they play a doctor in a movie it does not mean you should go to them when you need surgery etc...

YES now they are speaking up on what pertains to them and if what is being done to boycott them and their work is based on a lie or manipulation then they have the right to defend their work and demand a cease and desist order against those who defame them for gain.  I do agree they should have spoken out immediately when the innuendos started, because accusing anyone of murder is a very serious matter, therefore; YES Bollywood should have artist unions and associations that should have spoken and even filed a criminal report against those who accused their members falsely, but they must proceed with caution and I am sure they did not expect the public at large to be so naïve and gullible that a few hate mongers could manipulate them nor that corruption is so rampant that even government agencies are  sold out to the highest bidder and there is no sanctity in death or tragedy.

Also remember it is not just one person under one banner or production house, this group of actor/owners represent hundreds of people who are employed in the industry and hundreds of families that are sustained from the industry, not to mention the economy of the locality, that also benefits from the industry.

The irony is that one hand BW is called a mafia and then they want the mafia to speak on these issues.....decide kar lo ek baar ki BW hai kya??

Just because ModiJi ko actor banne ka itna shauk hai, promotional videos & photo shoots with peacock..doesn't mean every actor should become a politician. 😆

The selfie’s were the suraksha kavach from the IT cell. Industry saw the effect of nationalistic pride on SRK, Aamir and the likes of voices which were of dissent or criticism. This was not the era of mere governance but photoshopped, influencer era of politics. The smarter ones shut up while the wiser ones realized it was bread butter to keep on the good books with praise tweets and photos. Even during this whole drama of BW mafia, they are not moving away to questioning the acche din masters but handout sign for the sold media out to get them. Hope this lesson teaches them to stand up for themselves but I doubt given the reach of the powerful.

Enough with this BLM thing that gets taken out of cold storage at every opportunity. Only the desi attention-seekers posted about that - Priyanka, Kareena, Sara Ali Khan types. That's NOT the cream of the industry. In fact, those are people that nobody listens to anyway. It's also a cause that nobody in India cares about so they know it will be nice virtue-signaling without any risks.

India is not America. There is no true freedom of speech in India, especially if it goes against the government. Nobody is going to take risks that will cause people to throw rocks at their car and protest outside theaters. Nobody speaks up when their own livelihood is threatened.

They know any statement will just be used by dirty politicians and twisted by news anchors and turned into a circus. American celebs have no worries like that. A thousand celebs can post against Trump or about BLM and CNN/Fox won't even cover it. Even if there is some brief mention, it will only be if you're at the Angelina Jolie/Beyonce level. That too only for 10 seconds and not 24/7 like it would be for Indian superstars. It just gets them validation from their followers/fans so there is nothing to lose. Again, not the case in India.

This 👍. Also in India, it’s the goonda raj and mobocracy that’s ruling us right now. When the stars receive the backlash, it’s not just them that’s affected, but the hundreds of other workers that depend on their film , would lose their livelihood.  Theatres are vandalised and the shootings are disrupted and the movies are boycotted, over some stars political remarks.  For SRK or Aamir, they might absorb the losses bcoz they are super rich. But, what about the distributors and the workers who would lose their livelihood? During the Padmavat attack, SLB was physically attacked and the set was vandalised. They had to stop the shooting for several days. I don’t think it’s the Deepikas or the Shahids that suffered, but the low wage workers who’s work was destroyed.

The Hollywood is no better. The moment they receive backlash and threats, they also cower like mice. 99% of the Hollywood is left wing and they  may speak scream and shout about Trump and the leftist causes, but the moment someone in the HW speak anything pro-conservative or pro-republican , they shut them down. Debra messing, who’s a left wing hack, spoke about making a black list for all the republican fund donors in HW. That’s why, some stars like Denzel, Mel Gibson, Chris Pratts , (who are rumoured to be the secret republican/conservatives) refrain from making political statements in order to avoid backlash from their own colleagues.  HW makes propaganda movies mocking Jesus and the Christians, but they wouldn’t dare to show anything aganist the Prophet or the Muslims, for the fear of losing their heads. But atleast, they don’t have to fear the mobs attacking and burning theatres.
